4/18 12:10 pm - White Sox v. Tigers (Nova v. Ross)
OneDog847 replied to TheTruth05's topic in 2019 Season in Review
The Sox really need to stop trying to make Carson Fulmer happen. Dude is a lost cause. -
Anyone else want to claim Swihart / DFA Castillo
OneDog847 replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Exactly. They all suck and nobody wants them except garbage teams. The real question is who is the White Sox starting catcher on Opening Day 2020. Seby Zavala? Zach Collins? Other? -
I honestly think they are worried about AA pitching and the Birmingham ballpark completely destroying the confidence of Sheets and Rutherford.
-
Makes no sense. You can't hide these guys against LHP.

Neither can Castillo. No one will miss Wellington if he is released. Maybe San Diego will claim him and he can go play with his boy out there. -
Blake Rutherford was a top 100 prospect a the time of the trade I suppose. He is nowhere near the top 200 right now and is trending downward with a bullet.
-
The Sox are really banking on Collins and Zavala to hit as prospects. They are going to have to spend most of their FA budget on pitching it appears.
-
So you just let him completely sink in AA? I'm saying give it another month and if he still has a sub 400 OPS you gotta send him back down. Moral of the story is never trade with Brian Cashman if your name is Rick Hahn.
-
Rutherford is gonna be sent back down to single A soon one would think.

What an idiotic signing Jay was. It seems like the Sox lit 4 million dollars on fire by signing this guy. They could have had a fan promotion where they put 10 dollar bills into one of those air blowing machines that you step into instead. Anyone who buys a full price 100 level ticket for an April afternoon home game gets 10 seconds in the tank to grab as many ten dollar bills as possible. The line for that would have stretched all the way to the Dan Ryan and most fans would just spend the $ on beer and concessions anyways.
-
The Sox farm is simply not that deep. Some guys are gonna get absolutely exposed this year at AA and turn into the next Trey Michalzewski.
-
Dallas Kuechel ain't happening. That ship sailed when they didn't sign Machado. Let youngsters like Banuelos, Covey, Adams, Stephens get a look if/when Santana/Nova fall apart. Also, 2019 is most defintely a tank year. No need to use quotations lol.
-
Ozzie Albies is the same age as Eloy and has already put up 6 WAR in his career. Dude deserves to get paid more than Eloy.
-
The Sox roster is just lacking in talent. The roster is full of replacement level players and AAAA guys. Out of a 25 man roster there are only 7 guys who seem like they truly belong in major league baseball. Carlos Rodon Jose Abreu Tim Anderson Yoan Moncada Eloy Jimenez ( based on minor league numbers and hype) Alex Colome Kelvin Herrera Everyone else is pretty much a waste of time and roster space.

Yep. It's called perpetually rebuilding and the possibility of it happening is all too real unfortuntately. A competent and with it owner should see the cracks in the rebuild foundation starting to show and would fire the Front Office and other responsible parties before the whole thing collapses. Alas, the likely of that happening with JR is zero.
-
There is the way things should be and the way things really are. The rebuild is obviously a bit behind schedule. It doesn't take an advanced degree in sabermetrics to see that. 2019 became another full on tank year once the Sox decided to not pony up for Machado/Harper. 2020 should be better but it is still gonna be a real rough year as the Sox will be relying on a bunch of unproven arms in both the starting rotation and bullpen. Hopefully they pony up some cash or trade a prospect or two for a veteran arm that can anchor the rotation and bullpen.
-
They are tanking this year! Losing 100 plus games and drafting in the top 3 again is preferable to losing 90 games and drafting 8th or 9th. They will probably lose 95 plus games again next year unless they spend big bucks in FA this offseason. What can be done? Continue to tank and stockpile top draft picks. This team needs to continue to stockpile elite young talent if they aren't going to pony up for any big time free agents.
-
Which team is worse?? The O's or the Sox?
OneDog847 replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ervin Santana and Daniel Palka aren't far behind those dudes. -
There is a very real chance that Sheets and Rutherford do not develop any power and never make it out of Birmingham
-
LMAO. Might as well post the 2021 Draft Thread soon too.

This team looks historically bad. They are gonna challenge the 1970 and 2013 teams on the awful scale. -

Yep. The Sox are gonna have to spend some big bucks on pitching here soon. Otherwise, we are looking at another 3-4 years of tanking. -

100 losses this year seems certain. 2020 will be another tank year as well. Maybe they can not lose 100 games come 2021? -

MLB should really think about creating a separate league for the tanking teams like Baltimore, Miami, Sox, KC, Det,. They could sprinkle in some AAA teams as necessary. The talent gap between the tanking teams and the good teams is getting so wide that many games/series are becoming completely unwatchable.
