  1. Da Sox need to get one these Alex Bregman type guys on their squad soon!
  2. This story doesn't really add up as it was reported that JR was directly involved in the Machado negotiations. It is clear as day that the Sox failed epically with the Machado negotiations. The question is did JR and company finish second on purpose or did they totally misread the market for Machado?
  3. Rick Hahn is a wizard at using a lot of words to say absolutely nothing at all. He also sounds like a broken record every time he opens his mouth. The dude should go work as a sleazy corporate lawyer. He has been in over his head as a baseball general manager since his first day on the job.
  4. People want a perpetual rebuild as much as they want a trip to the dentists office every month. As a fan, it matters jack shit what we want. JR has surrounded himself with yes men who tow the company line in exchange for a guaranteed job for life. Any successful leader will tell you that is a horrible approach to running an organization. We are definitely starting to see signs that this rebuild is not gonna go the way of the Cubs/Astros. Hahn and KW are writing the beginning chapters on how to royally screw up a rebuild and alienate your fanbase.
  5. Hey, that is an important trophy to win. It is one that people will wait in line for hours in order to stand close to and take a picture with. Uncle Jerry's actions this past off-season show that this is all he cares about this point in time. We are in the midst of some dark ages as Sox fans.
  6. Who are the Sox going to trade in order to receive a "young impact player"? The Sox minors have been ravaged with injuries and underperformance. The only prospects really worth anything at the moment are Jimenez and Cease. Madrigal and Robert would have some value but the arrow is pointing down on both guys right now. The Sox do not have the depth in the minors to begin trading away any prospects. The Sox are still in the talent acquisition phase of the rebuild.
  7. The Sox FO has proven time and time that they are not capable of doing something like this. Cleaning house from top to bottom was something that should have happened before the Sox decided to rebuild. Letting dumb and dumber architect this rebuild was an epic blunder by Mr. Reinsdorf.
  8. Outside of Dylan Cease, this list leaves a ton to be desired. It is not very deep and extremely lacking in high upside arms. I suspect the Sox will be looking to buy a TOR arm or two in FA over the next few years.
  9. Sign of the times. The writing has been on the wall for Dunning for quite some time though so this news wasn't unexpected. It's time to hunker down and sit through another 2-3 years of tanking baseball on the South Side. Continuing to the stock farm with high draft picks should be priority #1.
  10. Amen! I don't think there is anyway in hell that Hostetler and company take a high schooler at #3 though. They will do what they have done every year since 2015 and take the best college player available in the first round.
  11. U serious dude? Collins should have no bearing whatsoever on the Sox first round pick this year. The Sox should be taking best player available at #3 no matter what.
  12. This kid has little to no value as a first baseman. Best case scenario he is a beggars version of Adam Dunn. Isn't Hostetler on record saying that the Sox had this dude as the number #1 player on their draft board in 2016?
  13. in the 2018 draft I would have gone Kelenic, Liberatore, or Gorman over Madrigal. In 2017 I would have gone Nick Pratto or Shane Baz over Burger in 2016 Alex Kiriloff, Forrest Whitley, and Gavin Lux all went after Collins. Carter Kieboom went two picks after Burdi. Hostetler has been drafting best college player available in the top rounds since he took over. i don't see that changing anytime soon. Dude is a one trick pony and not good at his job.
  14. My mistake. One high school kid in the first five rounds since he has taken over. Very solid philosophy so far I must say.
  15. Hostetler is taking the best college player available at #3. Dude is absolutely allergic to high school players in the first 5 rounds of the draft.
  16. Is the plan for him to start the season at Winston Salem? If so, he should be able to dominate the competition there as a 24 year old.
  17. This is the only version that would make any sense from the Sox perspective. Giving him 100 million guaranteed with no team options would be insane.
  18. So the Sox weren't willing to set the market for a couple of 26 year old superstars but are willing to set the market for a kid who hasn't had a single at bat in the Show yet? This is either gonna be a genius move, or blow up terribly in their faces if Eloy busts or catches the injury bug that seems to be going around the Sox right now. Why didn't the Cubs do this with Bryant/Baez or the Astros with Bregman/Springer?
  19. This is a rebuild that is still in talent acquisition mode. All players on the roster over the age of 28 should be traded come July. The reality looks like at least another two more years of tanking. This team needs to continue to stockpile high draft picks and hit the amateur market hard.
  20. Was Dunning one of they guys that KW was worried about having to pay in 5-6 years? Him and JR are probably breathing a little easier now.
  21. Yes sir. Anger has turned to apathy for many folks. JR, KW, and Hahn are pretty much writing the textbook on how to run a major league franchise into the ground.
  22. With the way the last decade has gone, I'll just be happy if this team is actually playing meaningful baseball in September sometime within the next 5 to 7 years. I think Rick Hahn would agree with me as well. Winning a division is tough and for the big boys. Finishing second is nothing to sneeze at.
  23. The Cubs made rebuilding look extremely easy. It is not. They were battling the Mets for pennant in year 4 of their rebuild. The Sox will be lucky to be a .500 team next year. The two rebuilds are obviously not following the same path.
  24. Play Palka or Cordell/Tilson/Delmonico every day in Right field until Adolfo, Rutherford, Gonzalez, Walker are ready. Houston lost 100 plus games for three years straight. Do you think any of their fans care about that now? I'd rather lose 115 games and draft first then lose 90 and draft another Carson Fulmer or Zack Collins.
  25. Signing Machado gets you one 5+ WAR player though. The Sox are gonna need 3-4 or those in order to be a contender.
