  1. Immoral is a stretch. Deceitful and dishonest, I would agree with. However, keeping Eloy down another year is in the best interest of the Sox as they don't need him in 2019 because they don't plan to be competitive. The Sox should just release Jon Jay at this point and eat the 4 million. Consider it the admission cost to sit at the big boys table. Let Delmonico or Cordell play every day in left field.
  2. I agree with what you are selling, Mr. Anderson. The rebuild as currently constructed is just treading water. There does not appear to be any forward momentum. The depth of the Sox farm will be greatly tested here going forward, even more so as injuries to prospects continue to mount. It's unfortunate but 2019 and most likely 2020 should just be tank years. The Sox need to continue to stock the farm. We are nowhere close to competing for anything worthwhile besides draft pick position.
  3. It is a radical idea but one that I think the Sox should consider. Eloy means absolutely nothing to the major league team in 2019. Bring him up in May 2020 alongside Kopech, Robert, Madrigal, and Cease. Let the kids develop in 2020 and get after winning the division in 2021.
  4. That was my initial thought as well but I changed my tune after the Machado fiasco. The Sox are wasting two roster spots based upon the nepotism of a guy that plays in San Diego! They already look like clowns and have so for quite some time. It's time to think outside the box. Punt away 2019 and keep Eloy down. We won't need him next year. The extra year of control during our "contention window" will be worth a little more egg on the face now.
  5. I don't think they can do that since he was on the 25 man roster when he got hurt. Eloy hasn't been promoted yet so they can keep him down. Eloy won't like it, but JR can just explain to him that it was a business decision and nothing personal.
  6. Why not? Why should they be concerned with a grievance that will just be a slight slap on the wrist? 2019 is another wasted year. I say keep Eloy out and lose 100 plus more games and get the first overall pick in 2020. Hopefully they can draft a can't miss stud like Harper, Machado, or Bryant cause they sure as hell won't pony up for one.
  7. I would ask them why they are out. Hahn spoke of this offseason as being a chance to add major impact talent. There is still impact talent out there to sign. The Sox flew people out to Vegas to meet with him in December. Why were they interested then but not now?
  8. Is anyone in the local media or around the Sox in Arizona even asking Hahn/KW any questions about Harper?
  9. I don't see the point in playing him in 2019 if the goal is just to continue to tank. Eloy is the heart and soul of a rebuild that is stuck in the sand right now. Would you rather burn a year of his service time next year in another meaningless year or have him 7 years from now when Moncada, Robert, Madrigal, and all the other young guys should be studs?
  10. In a perfect world someone other than Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams would be spending that big $$.
  11. Why even bring him up at all in 2019 during another tank year? Securing another top 3 draft pick should be the main priority this year. Why waste a year of Eloy's service time on a team that is tanking? Let him DH a couple times a week down to Charlotte to stay fresh and bring him up in May of 2020.
  12. Man, are we really talking about trading Rodon right now? The dude is a former top 5 pick with three years of cheap control remaining. Are we gonna be saying the same thing about trading Moncada and Jimenez in 3 years? At what point does this rebuild become the snake eating its own tail?
  13. Rebuilds are always a risk, man. The Cubs and Astros both made an extremely difficult process look very easy. There is a very real chance that the Sox jumped on the tanking train a little too late, and that they will rebuild themselves back to a 75 win team just in time to trade away Moncada, Kopech, and Jimenez.
  14. For sure. Merkin and Garfien are already scheduling their tweets. Get excited Sox Fans! Reinforcements are on their way! More AAAA filler like Tilson, Gillespie, Clarkin, and Cordell is coming this July!
  15. Yep. And he now sounds like a broken record with this "we will spend the money when the time is right" bull crap. This offseason was the perfect time to spend $ on a franchise altering player like Machado or Harper. I'm starting to think that the time may never be right for the Sox to spend big in free agency. He can just use his recycled line again next offseason when the Sox pass on big fish like Arenado, Sale, and Cole.
  16. Since the Sox love including incentives in contracts, I would offer Harper the following deal. 10 years at 325 million guaranteed with an opt out after 5 years (gets him higher than Machado) 100K bonus for every home game that is a sell out while he is under contract. 25 million dollar bonus if the Sox win one World Series while he is under contract. 50 million bonus if they win two or more. 100 million if they win 3 or more.
  17. What purpose do bad veteran players serve on a rebuilding team during a developmental year?
  18. The Jay and Alonso acquisitions are horrible deals. They were only brought aboard to entice Manny Machado. Do you see Manny Machado in a White Sox uniform? Jay would still be sitting at home like Cargo or Adam Jones if it wasn't for his connections with Manny. Alonso is redundant on the Sox and should still be sucking up payroll from our division rival in Cleveland.
  19. Yes sir. Aren't we all glad that the Sox didn't bid against themselves back in December or January for Machado? Can you imagine the unspeakable horrors that might have happened if they had been serious about this negotation from day one?
  20. Harper is gonna get somewhere between 325 and 350 million dollars guaranteed. That is almost 1/4 of the total value of the White Sox organization. Never gonna happen with Uncle Jerry holding the purse strings.
  21. It would be quite something if the Padres shocked the world and signed them both. Are the Phillies essentially the only bidder left at this point?
  22. I believe Phil Rogers tweeted something to that extent. If true, that is a pretty textbook case of owner collusion to suppress a players salary. In my humble opinion, the Sox never had any real interest in signing Harper from day one of the offseason. They knew the asking price going in would be 300 million plus due to the Nats offer. He is still sitting out there now and the Sox aren't making a move on him because they never had any interest in signing him in the first place.
  23. Barring a catastrophic injury, Abreu is gonna get extended this year for sure. KW hinted at this in his comments on why they couldn't get to 300 million for Manny. He has been a loyal soldier and textbook example of someone that JR will reward. A three year extension in low 50s sounds about right.
  24. Yep. There will be no A list players purchased via free agency by the Sox. Hopefully some of the young "studs" like Moncada, Jimenez, Kopech, and Robert hit their ceilings and become superstars. The Sox will be going after guys like Donaldson, Grandal, Goldschmit, Alex Wood, and Michael Wacha.
  25. LMAO. That were both found in a dumpster behind the Wings and Rings at 35th and Halsted.
