  1. A team owned by Jerry Reinsdorf is never going to give out a 300 million contract. Jerry is an old school owner, one of the last of his kind. He is an anti-labor guy and these mega-contracts go against many of his core principles. The Sox were never really in on Harper at all. It was all smoke and mirrors.
  2. Good signing. Now let's go get Jose Bautista and Adam Jones and call it an offseason!
  3. Leury Garcia is a poor man's Marwin Gonzalez and much cheaper. Give him at bats in 2019 in another non-competitive season. Marwin does not fit in with the Sox's long term plans.
  4. Houston lost 100 games for 3 straight seasons. The Sox are still in the tanking part of the rebuild. 2019 is another year where losses are more important than wins.
  5. Middling veterans have no purpose on a rebuilding/tanking team. They need to be jettisoned as soon as possible. Let the kids play. Palka should be getting Alonso's at bats. Give Jay's at bats to Engel/Delmonico/Tilson/Cordell
  6. Yep. 2019 is obviously another tank year. 2020 most likely as well. Let Palka and Delmonico get at bats in the outfield. Cargo serves no purpose on a tanking team.
  7. The Sox are going to extend Jose at sometime in 2019. KW foreshadowed this with his comments about not being able to get to 300 million for Machado because they will have to pay their own guys down the line. I expect him to get something like a 3 year 54 million dollar extension. He has been a loyal soldier. JR and KW will reward him.
  8. Yep. Straddling phase 1/2 is correct. I guess you could say that they are at phase 1.5. Gotta keep playing the young kids and see what you have. Sucks to say, but winning games shouldn't be much of a priority yet for the Sox. Still need a couple more top 5 picks to supplement the "core".
  9. Saying what since 2013? The Sox were trying to compete back then. Colome and/or Herrera could net some interesting pieces if they pitch well this year. Rodon too. Castillo, Alonso, and Jay will just be salary dumps.
  10. It was always gonna be Machado/Harper or bust. We got bust with a capital B. 2019 is gonna be another tank, err cough cough, developmental year. Guys like Jay and Alonso have no business on this roster and will hopefully be traded and/or released soon. Herrera and Colome can hopefully be flipped in July for more Cordell, Mederios, Clarkin type prospects.
  11. The Sox seem to be closer to phase 1 than phase 2. They still need to continue to build up the farm. Got the #3 pick this year. Most likely another top 5 pick in 2020 and 2021 as well. Need to hit the international market hard now that the Robert penalty is lifted. Abreu, Alonso, Jay, Castillo, Colome, Herrera, and Jones can all be flipped over the next couple of years as well. I would think about moving Rodon this July if he is pitching lights out as well and sell high on him ala the Eaton trade. Need to continue to stock the farm!
  12. Thanks for the link. The Kansas City Royals have two players on that list. The Sox only have one. That is no bueno.
  13. Bryce Harper is most likely going to sign the biggest contract in MLB history. It is downright delusional to think that a team owned by Jerry Reinsdorf would be a part of that history. These huge mega contracts are anathema to the way JR does business.
  14. Hello! Fresh meat here. So it appears that Tatis is pretty much a top 3 prospect in all of baseball. What does his trade value look like? Does he now have more value alone than the entire package received by the Sox in the Sale trade?
