  1. I would let Gio make another 4-5 starts this year and then just shut him down. Save some bullets for next year.
  2. The Sox brass seem afraid that Collins will be utterly exposed if he is out there as the every day DH. What do you do with the guy if he pulls a Palka and averages one hit a month? It's probably better to just hide him in the minors and hope that he can somehow learn how to catch up to 98 mph heaters down in Charlotte.
  3. The correct answer is dfa all of them. I'm gonna be crying in beer if any of these stiffs are playing on the South Side again next year.
  4. Dude is still a negative war player this year and serves little purpose on a tanking team. Bring up Basabe in a month and dfa Jay if you can't trade him.
  5. On could argue that Collins should be the full time DH/Backup catcher&1B. The Sox would just need to DFA Reed when Castillo is ready to return.
  6. No. Why would the Sox sign the guy if they weren't going to give him a serious audition? Reed will likely be here for the rest of the year.
  7. Reed hasn't even been here a week. Let the guy get 300 or 400 at bats before we judge him.
  8. Almost half the Sox 25 man roster is AAAA players. Hahn gonna need to do some serious work this offseason.
  9. Giolito pitched way over his head in the first half. Regression is a mean mother.
  10. How has Yolbert's bat looked in the DSL so far? He is like 4/5 years older than the competition so one would think he should be dominating.
  11. As others have pointed out, it is extremely likely that the Sox no longer think much of the kid and he probably isn't in the rebuild plans.
  12. There is no way Bummer and Colome are bringing back a MLB ready top 50 prospect. That's like trading two slighty above average relievers for a prospect like Nick Madrigal. Those two guys could possibly get a prospect in the 75-100 range. Top 50 prospects in todays baseball is akin to owning a bunch of bitcoin in 2015.
  13. I'm thinking this is pretty much the White Sox plan for 2020. I hope I'm wrong and that Robert is up in a couple weeks though.
  14. These two posts are mostly hyperbole but there are some nuggets of truth sprinkled in there. This should be the last year that the Sox are trying to flip guys. If we are still sellers at the deadline next year then heads need to start rolling over at 35th and Shields.
  15. Financial prudence banners fly forever!
  16. He only has 125 plate appearances in AA. I think the Sox let him finish the year there and start next year in Charlotte. What's the rush?
  17. The next couple weeks should foreshadow the Sox's plan for 2020. Trading Colome and Bummer would decimate the bullpen and likely signal the punting of 2020.
  18. There was a lot of talent in that 2016 draft class, especially on the prep side. Hostetler and company swung hard but missed badly on the first 3 picks from 16.
  19. Castellanos has also put up monster number at Sox Park over his career. He seems to be a defensive liability out in right field though.
  20. How can the Sox know this if they don't give him consistent playing time? Seems a bit premature to write him off after 30 mlb at bats. As my man Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs sings, "if you ain't ready now then baby you ain't ever gonna be". The Sox should be letting Collins play over a washed up cheater like Wellington Castillo. Hiding Collins down in AAA accomplishes nothing for the future of the rebuild. Let's see what the kid has during a tank year.
  21. This cat needs to get up to the Show asap. It took Moncada 1.5 seasons before he became an all star caliber player. I expect the same kind of growing pains with Robert.
  22. Why single out Cordell? He was a near mlb ready prospect that was blocked. These are the guys the Sox should be trying to trade for. Do you mean don't make a trade just to make a trade?
