There is still so much dead weight on this Sox team. We will know the rebuild is moving in the right direction when guys like Covey, Rondon, Tilson, Cordell, Castillo, Fry, Marshall, Herrera, Sanchez, Nova, Detwiler, Reed, Jay, are all sent packing.
-
Why are you so certain that this is their last non-contending year? The Sox are going to have a lot of guys learning on the job next year. 2020 could easily be another developmental year.
-
Almost half the Sox 40 man is AAAA type filler. It is why they are still able to add guys like AJ Reed without thinking twice. The Sox should still be in trade mode this year. They need to continue to stock the farm.

Like a Tanner Roark or Michael Wacha type guy? -

Again, the Sox went extremely college heavy in the 2016 draft and have little to nothing to show for it 3 years later. Keep telling yourself it was a good draft class all you want. -

Go look at the 2016 draft. There was a ton of high upside prep talent in that draft. Why would it be crazy to draft a prep guy with the #10 pick? So what if they were all top 100 prospects at one point? Where they are now is all that matters. Also, Zach Burdi was never a top 100 prospect and using a top 30 pick on a college relief pitcher is always a bad idea. Two guys from the 2016 draft class have already made the all-star game. The Sox went totally college heavy in 2016. What do they have to show for it so far? -

Pederson is a free agent after 2020 I believe. The Sox should just sign him then. -

With the #10 pick in that draft I would have gone with a high upside prep talent. The Sox used their first three picks on Zach Collins, Zach Burdi, and Alec Hansen. They basically punted away an entire draft. -
Trade Abreu. Trade Colome. Trade Bummer. Trade Leury Garcia. Trade Yolmer. Trade Herrera. DFA Beef Wellington, Jon Jay, and Jose Rondon if you can't trade them,

You as well. I'm ready to report for reeducation camp. I will only go though if I can bring my brother in law and best friend with me. -

Collins had a big hitch in his swing and still does. It was a bad pick and a reach. There was so much prep talent in the 2016 draft class that the Sox whiffed on. -

No more Tilson, Cordell, or Fulmer next year! Enough is enough. -

These guys are all nobodies. I'm gonna cry in my beer if I have to watch Cordell, Tilson, or Fulmer again next year. -

That is not the Sox current 25 man roster. There is also no guarantee that Robert and Madrigal open next year on the 25 man. Abreu is not under contract for next year either. Also, Yolmer, Herrera, Fry, Marshall, and Lopez are all pretty much replacement level players. So again, the Sox are going to have to fill over 10 spots on the 25 man over the offseason. That is not an easy task. -

Herrera looks like toast. Sox will probably have to pull an Alonso with him next year. -

His catching hasn't looked that terrible actually. It is his bat that looks awful. Playing in the bandbox in Charlotte isn't going to help his bat. This is probably how he will be used next year as well so he should get used to it. -

This times a million. Some people have some real short memories around here. Good starting pitching is expensive and risky. Our current owner doesn't like those two words. -

Good points. Do you think Collins has any future with the Sox? I just don't see the point of playing him in Charlotte during a tank year. -

The Sox are tanking this year. Let Collins take his lumps now. I don't want him up in 2020 striking out 50 percent of the time. -

Another Collins strikeout. Is the plan to send him back down once Wellington is healthy? -

Half the Sox 25 man roster is AAAA filler. Going to be hard to replace half the roster in one offseason.
