  1. And Collins is a 24 year old catcher who is not even slugging his weight in the Show and will be back in AAA soon enough. Give me the upside of Huff all day.
  2. A tie? Seriously? Also, is that Carrot Top's kid out there on the NL side?
  3. Padres aren't trading away that dude just for $$$. Speaking of the Padres, did Tatis Junior play in this game last year? Most of the guys playing in the game right now are older than him. That is pretty insane.
  4. Alec Bohm getting to play the whole game it appears.
  5. Sam Huff is only 21 and was a 7th round pick. Who has more current value, Collins or Huff?
  6. Sam Huff kilt that ball. He is another prep guy who was drafted in 2016.
  7. 3 uninspired at bats for Robert. Man, there are like 5 or 6 guys who were drafted after Collins in 2016 playing in this game. The Sox refusal to use first round picks on high end prep talent is still dumfounding to me.
  8. That's not what I meant. I'm saying that the total contracts for all those guys would be north of 200 million dollars. I just don't see JR spending that much in one offseason.
  9. You are looking at like 200 million dollars in total contracts if the Sox follow that plan, even more so if Ozuna and Cole are signed. Do you really think that JR is going to authorize that kind of spending in one offseason?
  10. Just looked up his numbers at AA. Good god, what happened with this dude?
  11. The Sox rebuild is doomed if they cant even sign a guy like Pablo Ozuna.
  12. Aren't the Sox trying to compete next year? No way Walker will be ready anytime soon. I'm gonna cry in my beer if I have to watch stiffs like Tilson, Jay, or Cordell again next year.
  13. Corey Dickerson? Might as well just offer an extension to Jon Jay.
  14. The guy with 10 career minor league homers and 745 OPS?
  15. What is the Sox future plan for right field? Tilson or Cordell are not the long term answer obviously.
  16. It is crystal clear that pitching needs to be the Sox #1 priority in the offseason. Going into 2020 with Giolito as the anchor of your rotation is a recipe for disaster. The Cubbies got Lester, the Astros got Verlander, and the Bo Sox traded the farm for Sale. The Sox need to acquire an ace this offseason by whatever means necessary. Pony up for Cole or make a trade for Grienke. Adding a guy like Dallas Kuechel or Alex Wood as a secondary piece makes a lot of sense as well.
  17. Nico Hoerner and Miguel Amaya are both top 100 prospects and could be flipped for something extremely valuable.
  18. Baseball is an unpredictable game. The Dodgers have had payrolls well north of 200 million dollars for the last 5 years and what do they have to show for it? The Sox have still never made the playoffs in consectutive years. You gotta crawl before you do wind sprints..
  19. Cease didn't pitch great but he got the win. Herrera is a complete gas can and looks like burnt toast. He will be sent out to pasture ala Alonso early next year if he continues to wet the bed every time out.
  20. Seriously? The North Siders have made the playoffs 4 consecutive years and have won a World Series. I won't be complaining if the Sox rebuild equals that. Also, it is only July 3. Still a lot of baseball left to be played and Theo may empty the farm for some impact talent in a few weeks.
  21. I agree on Cole Hamels. I would sign him to a 2 year deal for somewhere around 40 million if they miss out on Cole or Bumgardner. The key is to avoid another situation like this year where the Sox are forced to sign guys off the street like Despaigne and Detwiler. The Sox should sign at least 3 starting pitchers this offseason.
  22. The Sox are going to have to spend some $$$ on pitching in the offseason if they plan to compete in 2020. The Sox can easily afford to outbid everyone for Cole or Bumgardner if they choose to.Like you mention, the problem is that JR seems very risk-averse with pitching contracts and I don't see that changing, especially with all the arm injuries the Sox have encountered recently. I suspect that instead of going for a big fish this offseason they will spread the $ around on 2-3 guys like Alex Wood and Michael Wacha.
  23. Are the Sox totally in the clear on his 9 million option for next year? They will just have to buyout him out for 1 million, correct?
