I could see the Sox adding someone like Yasiel Puig at 3/45. A pitcher like Cole Hamels at 2/40 and someone like Michael Wacha at 3/30. That would be 45 million in AAV and would leave some wiggle room to offer a guy like McCann an extension or sign a mid-range reliever to a one year deal worth 7-8 million.
-
I think the Sox will save some $ for the 2021 FA class. 85 Million next year in payroll. They will push it slightly over 100 million for 2021.
-
So it looks like the Sox payroll next year will be around 28 million. I figure they will bring back Jose in a bridge year to Vaughn at like 12 million and won't trade Colome. That brings the payroll to around $40 million next year. How much do you think the Sox payroll will be on Opening Day 2020? I think they add like 45 million AAV next year and will rock a payroll around 85 million total.

Burger was a terrible pick from day one. Drafting a guy whose absolute ceiling is Billy Butler is never a good idea with a top 15 pick. Jo Adell went one pick before Burger too. What could have been...
-
Yep. Still very early but the 2020 draft class is looking pretty deep. The Sox should go pitching heavy next year.
-
Very nice to see. Let's hope he continues to have a great year. The Sox rebuild is going nowhere if Moncada doesn't become a superstar.
-
Yep. Taking a look at this dude's twitter he seems to spend a lot of time watching movies, eating Dominoes Pizza, and playing video games. He is on the fast track to weighing 300 pounds in 5 years.
-
Another top ten pick would be very nice. Best player available should be the Sox strategy next year but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they take the best college arm available.
-
Any update on this guy? His heel must really be bothering him.
-
Cubs are going to go hard after Cole to replace Lester as the TOR workhorse. Forget Q. The Sox should go after Hamels on a two year deal.
-
We will see. The great thing about rebuilding is that you can always just push the timeline back. This offseason will be very telling on the Sox FO plans for 2020.
-
The Sox will most likely win around 75 games this year. You really think that they will improve 20 games in one year? They better sign both Rendon/Cole and trade Madrigal for Grienke for that to happen.
-
Ha. Rick Hahn is the brilliant mind who traded for Mr. Alonso. If this Sox team is 15 games out of the Division this time next year then it is time for Hahn to be sent packing as well.
-
Yeah man. Next year will be year 4 of the rebuild already. I think the goal for next year is to get back to 500. 2021 should be the real first year of contention and that will be year 5 of the rebuild.
-
Dude, this is only year 3 of a 5-6 year rebuild. Hahn could care less about putting the best 25 on the field. The only thing the Sox are playing for this year is another top 10 draft pick.
-
Front office incompetence is the simple answer here. Some geniuses who cooked up the Machado friends and family plan.
-
Didn't Bauer make some comment that he will only sign one year deals once he becomes a FA? Will be interesting to see if he actually puts his $ where his mouth is.
-
Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

My fear is that we are going to see a trio of signings similar to Robertson/Melky/LaRoche this offseason. A Michael Wacha here, A Yasiel Puig there, and a Alex Wood over there. -
LMAO. No one wants Jon Jay. He is a broken down old man with a bad hip. He is an outfield version of Alcides Escobar. A washed up veteran that should only be playing in AAA for emergency depth.
-
Why haven't they moved on from these guys yet? Neither has any trade value whatsoever and 2019 is a developmental year. Play guys like Cordell, Tilson, or Palka.
-
What happens if Dalquist wants 2.75 million or he goes to school? The Sox pretty much have to give him whatever he asks at this point, no?
-
I think part of the reason that attendance is up is that tickets are pretty much dirt cheap. You can basically buy an upper deck tix off Stubhub the day of game for less than $10 dollars and pretty much sit almost wherever you want on the 100 level. Feels like Summer here today finally. Mid-80s with sunshine.

Fernando Tatis JR: 323/387/571 with a 958 OPS. I hear they are already getting the materials to build his statue in Cooperstown.
-
Tatis cannot even legally walk into a bar and he is already way better than Tim Anderson. In Rick Hahn we trust...

Every GM is killing it during year 3 of a rebuild. Let's see where the Sox are this time next year. The Cubbies started their playoff run during year 4 of their rebuild. No reason the Sox shouldn't be able to do the same.
