  1. Hopefully...we are not bad at that any longer.
  2. 2.1 War in 2024, all the rest are neg. Wouldn't have a prayer?
  3. Tauchman is who I expect if he can be had in the 3.5-4.5 range. The first couple of months are the need.
  4. I'd take his 2024 production... the rest... not so much.
  5. Releivers who come in and don't walk the first two batters they face are very welcome IMO.
  6. One size does not fit all. Some players will want to come here...some won't. I hope we are getting to the point where we take our best shot at those players we want and let the chips fall where they do. Just don't want to play with one hand tied behind our backs.
  7. You win...everyone wants to live in New York except me.
  8. I'm rebutting the idea that all things being equal...EVERYONE...would pick those other places. If two people made the same amount of money and could live in either Denver or New York, don't tell me most people will pick New York. It's pretty obvious that the Dodgers and Yankees have advantages based on their owners' willingness to spend. Most athletes have large enough egos to think they can turn teams like ours into winners all by themselves.
  9. Didn't say it wasn't. I'll bet I would like Warren more than his ex. Just a guess.
  10. If you think people making big money don't care about taxes, you are more naive than I think. When you get rich and move to New York, I'll be happy for you. Warren Buffett lives in Omaha, Nebraska, even though he could live anywhere in the world. Get it now. Not every baseball player wants to live in NY or LA. Some would prefer to play for the Chicago just because that's how they want to do it. You're insisting that everyone wants to avoid the White Sox is just bull.
  11. Again, you miss the point, but I don't care enough to debate with you.
  12. The fact is, your 170 M would go a long way further in most cities with teams. I wasn't trying to make the point that no one likes New York. Believe it or not, the standard of living on your combined incomes would be much higher in many places around the country. Housing, groceries, taxes, gas etc, all count in the equation just like your "cultural capital" beliefs.
  13. He just might succeed in spite of JR. The future looks a lot brighter after yesterday.
  14. Just because players make lots of money...doesn't mean they all crave $50 hamburgers and high taxes. Many posters think Chicago is not an attractive place for free agents, yet many can't imagine a better place to live and play.
  15. The jury is still out on Getz. He has had some misses, but Shane Smith, Vasil, the Crochett trade, the addition of Fuller and Bannister to the front office, and the hiring of Venible are all positive in my view. Jerry hasn't given him free rain to do as he pleases, would be my guess.
  16. Would you like to live in New York? You would need to pay me a hugh premium. Higher cost of living and taxation in both NY and LA
  17. Pitchers always seem to be the Rule 5 popular targets. Who can't use a bullpen arm? I think Getz has earned the right to pick the best pitcher to call on. The selection of Smith can't be argued with. Pintar is my dark horse selection. We need outfielders, and a 5th outfielder isn't that big of a gamble. Has speed & defense, which I always love.
  18. New York and LA do not equal "attractive standards/conditions of living."
