The heat is up dramatically in the last two days. I understand the FO was aware of the DUI before now...but probably thought it would go unnoticed. It a different today as it has become big-time news. My question to Dick Allen was has the FO made comments in the last two days.
Every day that this carries on...good coaches are potentially signed elsewhere. Management needs to dump TL or say he's the man. To say nothing should not be an option.
I would trust TL to make the lineup and in-game decisions. Acquiring players is far removed from his strong suit. TL should not be given cart blanc with personnel moves outside of some coaching input.
I think JR underestimated the blowback he is getting. If this was a more normal hire...I doubt this would have become such a big deal. TL was such a controversial hire that this pushes it over the edge for many of us who were at first accepting.
Some forum members think Madrigal's .340 BA is nothing to write home about. I will take it every day over the power hitters that get 25 HRs with .220 BA guys who are so desirable in some people's opinion. I've seen enough of the EE types to last a lifetime.
No one person is bigger than the Team. I was plenty willing to overlook TL's age but this new info has become a distraction. Hire Bochy and let's get the coaches lined up. JR has a responsibility to the team, it's employees and it's fans to do the right thing.
Sign Bauer and let the new pitching coach fix Cease, Kopech, and Dunning. These trades for our best prospects (Vaughn, Madrigal, Kopech, Cease) make me ill. Use free agency...it's only money.
If willing to go young...Zaleski is a possibility but light on the resume. What does Katz have that our in-house candidates don't? Don't know much about him so just asking. Dotson seems to be old enough at age 61to have something in common with TL. I doubt we are dumping Coop to go with a total unknown.
I knew about Duncan and was happy he turned it down. Duncan was good in the day but really is time to get some new thoughts into the staff. If I had to guess I would say Dotson is the leading candidate. We like our homegrown boys. When they were so fast to fire Cooper... I assumed they knew who they were getting. The TL hire most have changed the thinking.
I am getting anxious to hear news on the new coaches. I presume the pitching coach would be part of the think tank on which pitchers we will be pursuing. Either going to be pleasantly surprised or irrationally bumed.
