  1. May things play a role. If I sample 10 democrats & 8 republicans results are worthless. If I am a Trump support but tell you I am undecided. If the group doing the polling has a bias in the first place.
  2. I'm referring to undercounted polling.
  3. That remains to be seen, doesn't it?
  4. Yeah...and you wonder why there is a silent majority.
  5. This is always pointless to argue politics. You want the highly populated states to more or less pick the President. I on the other hand look at how Democrats have mismanaged virtually every large city they run into near Bankruptcy. Nancy's district in SanFrancisco has crap in the streets and you what small-town America to follow suit. No thanks! For the record...I voted for Carter (big mistake) and have no bone to pick with JFK or LBJ. I wasn't wild about Bill Clinton or Barack Obama but I managed to not riot in the street. Mayor Richard J. Daley was an excellent mayor IMO. When your party is represented by Nancy Pelosi, AOC, Bernie Sander, Elizabeth Warren, Al Sharpton, and Chuck Schumer... you will not convert many conservatives to your cause.
  6. The argument hasn't changed since the founding fathers initiated it. They didn't want highly populated States having all the power while dictating to smaller states. An example is the $15.00 minimum wage being pushed by the liberals as if there is no difference between New York and Iowa. That shouldn't be a National issue at all. The liberals simply use it in their bag of free stuff to attract voters. Same reason every State gets two Senators. Heavily populated states like California, New York, and Texas get more electoral votes and for that matter more house seats than the smaller states. The big States are given a heavily weighted advantage in national elections and creating laws. However, the founding fathers in their wisdom saw to it that all states have a voice in who leads the country.
  7. Starter depth may indeed be a better investment than one stud. Of course...a Bauer/Stroman stud along with depth is the way to go if RH can pull it off.
  8. Engel as a starting RF with a Dyson type and Leury is far from our biggest problem IMO. Pitching, both starter & late-inning is this team's offseason need. If we can upgrade RF...sure that would be great. This team will score plenty of runs. We need to limit the runs we give up. My goal is a starting pitcher in every game that doesn't make me cringe and a bullpen that doesn't tie up my stomach in knots.
  9. It's all about who controls the Senate. You know that.
  10. People liked the PT Barnum side of BV. The baseball side...not so much.
  11. Elections have consequences!
  12. Free college, $15.00 minimum wage, open borders, free health care for illegal aliens, and late-term abortion. Sure sounds like Bernie.
  13. "I am not voting for a man. I am voting for the principles for which this country has stood since its founding. A am voting for a Constitutional government. I am voting for a strong and viable military. I am voting for a vibrant economy. I am voting for the right to keep and bear arms. I am voting for the freedom to worship. I am voting for national recognition of the founding of our nation on Biblical principles. I am voting for the ability for anyone to rise above their circumstances and become successful. I am voting for my children and grandchildren to be able to choose their own path in life, including how and where their children are educated. I am voting for our borders to be open to everyone who enters under our law and closed to everyone who would circumvent or ignore the law. I am voting for the Electoral College to remain in place so that a few heavily populated liberal centers do not control the elections. I am voting for a Supreme Court that interprets the Constitution rather than rewrites it. I am voting to teach history, with all its warts. not erase it or revise it. I am voting for the sanctity of life from conception to birth and after." Author unknown but agreed with.
  14. Kopech, Lopez, Rodon, Cease, Dunning, Lambert, and Crochet all have the potential long-term. Need to start winning now. Guys the caliber of Charlie Morton, Q, and others are available until some of our young guys can develop. I have a philosophy of when you think you have plenty of pitching...get some more.
  15. I want depth in starters...the need for 7 or 8 starters is just a normal year. Mostly I want a decent starter for every game and I know it's unrealistic to have 5 top tier starters. The day of 200 inning starters is gone for the most part. Current Starters: Giolito Next Year: Giolito Keuchel Keuchel Cease New #3/4 Dunning New #3/4 Lopez Lopez/Cease/Dunning/#5 type
  16. Of course, Bauer is tantalizing but two #3 types + a #5 for depth would work for me.
  17. Two or three championships would greatly enhance that reputation and the value of the franchise.
  18. They obviously don't watch him every day and every play like we do. Maybe we can keep him at a lower price than some of us think. Hope so!
  19. I wasn't making the point that owners getting involved in hiring decisions works or doesn't. Just saying you or I have opinions and would probably act on them if we owned the team.
  20. Jerry Reinsdorf has been around baseball and it's people longer than most of us. I'm sure he feels well versed in its intricacies since he has watched literally thousands of games. I can't imagine most of us owning this club and sitting quietly while our favorite manager is passed over to hire someone else. I know it sounds reasonable to hire the people to run the team and let them do it. However, most owners take some role in these matters with George Steinbrenner and Charles Finley being extreme examples. I am willing to cut JR some slack since there are bigger crimes than hiring a HOF manager to make on-field decisions. Can't imagine how I would have tolerated some of the lineup and in-game decisions these past 10 years. Pretty sure I would have stuck my nose in before now.
  21. We are getting Tony L whether or not we like it. We should focus on how excited we are to find out how the coaching staff lines up. The players available this offseason at reduced prices should have us in great shape come opening day. Feels good to look at this in a positive light...especially when nothing is improved by b****ing about it.
  22. That announcer turned GM has been tried before. Doesn't always work.
