  1. Anyone who works for someone else isn't fully in charge. Wherever RH would go... he still has a boss. JR gives as much space as anyone but he does own the team and still, he reports to a board. Life is full of those little irritations.
  2. Hahn might have been the guy who brought up Tony as a couple of year bridge to Jirschele for what any of us know. Anxious to hear about bench coach/3rd base coach/ pitching coach. Tony knows everyone in the game so there should be some interesting names.
  3. I get a kick out of the forum members who think the owner should keep his nose out of WS hiring decisions. However, those of us in the cheap seats think our views are spot on. If I owned my favorite team...I'm pretty sure I would sit in on those think tank sessions and probably feel my ownership gave me a right to speak up.
  4. This is what I am anxious to hear about. Tony has always put good people around him IMO. Although he wouldn't have been my first choice...he is after all a HOF manager.
  5. Give me D) Bochy=quality manager with no baggage
  6. Jirschele is viewed by many as our manager in waiting.
  7. I agree with Jirschele as a bench coach for LaRussa and think it would be smart for Hinch as well. If we hire Hinch and don't show Jirschele some love...he is probably gone.
  8. I am not a fan of the TLR hire and I was an early fan of Bochy for the job. However, TLR has forgotten more about baseball than most of us ever knew. The world will not end if he gets the job.
  9. You are entitled to your opinion...I just don't agree with it.
  10. Nothing to be uncomfortable about. We will get the best available man for the job. RH and the rest of FO aren't kidding any more.
  11. Say anything you want about RH...he runs a tight-lipped FO.
  12. How would you like to use it?
  13. A .376 OBP is not bad for a first-year player. Those home runs look a whole lot better with men on base. Add in some useful defense and a bit of speed and you have a good baseball player. Nelson Fox was an MVP with less power than Madrigal. I just happen to be one of those old-fashioned baseball fans that like to see men on base and scoring on occasion without a blast by some overweight lumberjack.
  14. A manager doesn't need to be Abner Doubleday in order to make out reasonable lineup cards and the percentage in-game moves. He even has a buddy sitting next to him to think it over with. Managers who go against the odds sometimes win a game or two...but the odds finally catch up with them.
  15. Madrigal is the exact player we should all love.
  16. I too believe this decision will ultimately be left to Hahn. JR will be in the discussion along with KW but ultimately RH is the GM.
  17. Agreed! Let's just hope this is a lot of fluff before a much more realistic new manager is named.
  18. If Tony is hired...I sure hope Jirschele is his bench coach or third base coach.
  19. His 2017 season average of .330. The two seasons you refer to are injury driven (shortened) as I'm sure you know. Just goes to show that numbers can say whatever you want them to say.
  20. I wish the FO would have paid a little more attention to Avi's high batting average.
  21. I hope you are right. What makes you say this?
  22. Good read! It sure is true that a watched pot never boils. We are anxious to get on with the new manager news and off-season dealings. Naturally, the WS will go the full 7 games.
