  1. Bochy is such an obvious potential choice I can't imagine how little his name is brought up. He and John Farrell should be definitely interviewed if we are serious about a true interview process.
  2. I don't want to wager large sums of money on it....but I hope you are right. TLR & Hinch are way down my list of possibilities.
  3. It depends on who gets the managerial job. Bochy for example is known for his excellent handler of his pitching staff. Zaleski would be great working with that type of manager.
  4. Tony is a smart guy who knows how to make out the lineup card. He has a grating personality that will get on this board's collective nerves. He thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and it shows. His age doesn't bother me as much as his personality.
  5. I would like the White Sox interviews to include: Bruce Bochy (age 65).....Joe Espada (age 45).....John Farrell (age 56) These guys are all associated with winning organizations and age-appropriate for the job. None of them are tainted by age or scandal concerns. Would love to see Jirschele be considered to serve as bench coach for any of them.
  6. I don't believe JR would allow TL to be used just for gamesmanship. If they asked for permission to discuss the managerial opening with Tony...the WS organization has at least some interest.
  7. One of the true surprises of the 2020 season was Jose's fine season. Well deserved award.
  8. No matter who the new manager is (Bochy or TLR)...I would like Jirschele to be an understudy. I would have been happy with Jirschele getting the job but I understand that is not in the cards at this time.
  9. My guess is McCann will sign for something less than half of a qualifying offer.
  10. I am surprised that we don't hear Joey Cora mentioned. He was always credited with the well run Spring Training camps and was a solid third base and bench coach. Probably too close to the Ozzie days but a somewhat interesting guy.
  11. Wish we could have had Martin. Billy was the best one-season manager ever. He always wore out his welcome but for that one year, he was the best IMO.
  12. As a 75-year-old WS fan let me just say...you've ruined my whole day.
  13. I too watched LaRussa his entire WS managerial stint and was glad to see him go. Continuous slowing up the game as he stopped the game to have an outfielder move over 2 or 3 yards or go out to discuss some fine point with the umps. The thought I had at the time was he liked to "over manage." In most people's eyes, he became a fine manager but I for one never second-guessed the decision to release him.
  14. Around and around it goes and where it stops...nobody knows.
  15. Are there any .150 hitters who add "big-time value?"
  16. Bauer reminds me of Chris Sale in his cut up the uniform type moments. I loved Chris on the mound but his off-field judgement was not always the best. Some of these so-called stars abuse their celebrity with childish tantrums not tolerated from the average player. I would like seeing Bauer in a WS uniform but I hope he is learning to control himself.
  17. Yeah...there are really lots of .330 hitters who are lousy hitters.?
  18. Bochy is perfect for our team. Comes with a ton of credibility and would attract top-tier coaches as well.
  19. Bochy said he was ready to listen. Hope they give him a long look. Very well respected with more managerial experience than just about anybody. At 65 he's not a kid but I'll bet he would listen to a 3-year plan. Let Jirschele be his bench coach and learn from a pro. Old school sitting next to analytics. Sign me up.
