  1. Madrigal will be a fan favorite for the next 10 years. A guy who really can play small ball and do everything except hit homers.
  2. The qualifying offer will help suppress his interest level a bit. My guess is 4 years at about 75 M gets it done.
  3. Yolmer at 4.5 per year for 2 years would work for me.
  4. Sign one of the two top pitching prospects and Grandal...I would be fine with Calhoun
  5. 3/38 is a realistic offer to a team in need of a thumper and on a budget IMO. It's in the ballpark of what I thought we might offer him.
  6. Great for Yolmer. Him coming back for less than his arb price is probably the plan. Hope to see Sanchez & Engel back in bench roles.
  7. Why shouldn't we have nice things?
  8. Drysdale and Hawk were great! Harry and Jimmy were a clown show IMO. I get that Harry was a thing...but I couldn't stand him.
  9. Rules/rules/rules...it's all so complicated.
  10. If I was the GM of a contending team in need of a productive 1st basemen...I would go after Abreu.
  11. Pence would be a nice under the radar signing IMO.
  12. Makes me think I might not want him after all. Not much of a team guy.
  13. I believe the WS will spend around 160M. That should put us around 10th. I know that others think substantially less...we shall see.
  14. Good post. I would offer Fulmer and perhaps throw in Fry. No way I would give three players all with some hope of making the grade. Calhoun is available for just money. Bummer would be a non starter for me.
  15. Fulmer may have a future as a reliever with these new rules of facing 3 batters.
  16. Haven't removed anyone surprising but what do you guys think is the reasoning behind such deep cuts? Must be clearing space for some reason.
  17. I said #1 position player. The forum has beaten to death the starting pitchers, RF, DH and RP's needs and I have commented numerous times on the various possibilities. My feeling is that Grandal/McCann/Collins handles the DH problem while upgrading the catching. I am not a big fan of one dimensional DH types.
  18. Good philosophy but not how the actual system works.
  19. I am a fan of the Grandal/McCann/Collins sharing Catcher, DH and backup catcher. Two well rested catchers avoids the fatigue that all catchers experience while giving great mentoring to Collins. Martinez has been a great hitter but his back scares me in terms of long term commitments. Just the reverse of your take...if we sign Martinez I will soon be a big fan.
  20. I agree. Grandal is a safer choice to be productive for length of contract. Fits our situation IMO.
  21. I don't care if they got nothing for him...I just want him gone.
