  1. I love what you have done. Was considering doing something with the same format but was much to lazy. It serves as a baseline for what can be done and if posters have a better idea they can suggest an alternative player and associated cost. Hope that posters make suggestions to improve your thoughts rather than take pot shots as many like to do. Good job!
  2. I hope we sign Grandal and bring up Collins. Additionally I would for sure what McCann on an extended basis. That combination gives lots of catching / lineup versatility and in particular solves a glaring DH problem. It might also lead to pitcher / catcher combo relationships much like the Gio / McCann relationship which has developed this season.
  3. I imagine the team is worth more as a championship caliber team. This might be the year Jerry feels the all in mentality would be a worthwhile investment.
  4. I don't mind giving him a shot at left handed DH but I don't want him anywhere near RF.
  5. Obviously none of us know. My guess (desire) would be the 12-14 range. It won't surprise me if the Sox pay him 16-18 because they are very loyal to those they consider loyal to them. It's Jerrys money so I'm fine with whatever they do.
  6. My point of view is he will not go to arbitration but be released (non tendered). Just like Avi. The difference is I expect him to be resigned in the 3-4 million range after he is declared a free agent. The process might take a month or two...or perhaps a day or two. Arbitration would pay Yolmer 6+ million and I'm sure his advisors know that isn't going to happen.
  7. When the all star first basemen says he only wants to play for the White Sox...when the Sox don't have a replacement as of yet...and all indications are he will sign at a discount...THEY WILL RE-SIGN ABREU IMO.
  8. This will be one of the most interesting off season questions to answer.
  9. Machado was only a good signing if we could get him at a good price. Overpays for anyone long-term can lead to calamity. I like where we are.
  10. Lots of errors but he sure covers some ground and has a canon for an arm.
  11. I have never agreed with those who think moving Moncada to 2nd was going to happen. Once the team uses the 4th overall pick in the draft to pick Madrigal he is not being used as a bargaining chip. If Hahn made that move I would surely think him incompetent. GM's stake their reps on drafting and trading for the right guys. Even when they are wrong they stick with their mistakes a long time (see Beckham).
  12. I like Anderson as well as the next guy but "established star" is a stretch. What I am advocating is you need to move Moncada or for that matter Anderson...move them where you have a need which is right field.
  13. Moncada has a natural instinct at third that he doesn't have for second. These posters who keep wanting to move Moncada to second where we have a potential star in Madrigal drive me nuts. If you want to move Anderson to right field I'm all for it, but leave Madrigal out of these inane suggestions.
  14. Arbitration is not an option for Yolmer. Sox will release him much like they did Avi. Unlike Avi...they will resign him in the neighborhood of 3-4 million. Yolmer is not as bad as some here make him out to be. Just got expensive for what he is.
  15. If Leury Garcia was available... he might be the best bet.
  16. Other than Jose...who are the other bad hitters with 100 rbi's?
  17. I didn't read your post carefully. I agree with you.
  18. Jose is batting .279...which NL pitchers are you referring to?
  19. My guess is Yolmer gets 3-4 million from us. We gave Jay 4 million and Yolmer is at least that valuable.
  20. When we actually have a better first baseman than Jose he will become the DH. When we have both a better first baseman and a better DH than Jose we don't need him anymore. We're not there yet. Currently Jose is an all star first baseman. For now lets worry about right field and DH.
  21. Nova would be the best of those picks.
  22. TOR starters cost a fortune in free agency. Positional stars cost a fortune in free agency. I was agreeing with the idea that the Sox tried to get TOR starters and positional stars with the trades that jumpstarted the rebuild. Free agency will in my opinion be used for positional strengthening like RF and two rotation starters rather than paying for TOR people like Cole.
