  1. I didn't like the long drawn out saga either. We do it to ourselves when we speculate for weeks. FO only said they felt good about their chances. We let that become some kind of already done deal. I especially didn't like some FA's slipping past us while we pursued them.
  2. McCann and Colome would normally be received pretty well.
  3. Oops...I hope the hits and SB's still count.
  4. The other day Jayson and DJ did the Washington broadcast and I thought they were very good together.
  5. BTW Nick Madrigal had his AA debut today with 3 hits and 2 stolen bases. Very nice!
  6. Absolutely no one including Machado or Harper come with guarantees. TJ is no longer a career killer in fact many come back better than ever. I feel confident in the guys we are all counting on. I do think 2020 will probably be getting all of the prospect up and learning to work together along with some rehab time for Kopech. I still expect us to compete next year. Robert, Madrigal, Cease and Kopech are huge addition along with more maturity for Eloy and Madrigal. I'm liking the addition of McCann and perhaps Collins as well.
  7. Right field and two starting pitchers. Of course you can always use as much quality bullpen pieces as you can get your hands on.
  8. When the rebuild is done and we're winning everything in sight I'm sure the negative guys will admit that they were wrong.?
  9. Nova is working much faster than usual. I like.
  10. Well I would say Hawk Harrelson & Kenney Williams would both beat him to that title. I don't know if he would or would not be offered other GM jobs. You don't either.
  11. Abreau, Madrigal, Sale, Q, Moncada, Eloy, McCann, Kopech, Cease, Bummer, Giolito, Marshall, Anderson, Tilson and others that you already have discussed many times.
  12. Jirschele really impressed me the few times I heard him interviewed. I do wonder if we would ever consider Girardi.
  13. I only use his degree and experience to say he is not a dumb bunny. He speaks with other baseball people on an hourly basis. I know I don't have his knowledge of players of the other 29 teams and their availability. Sincerely doubt any member of this forum has his overall knowledge of contracts and what goes into getting the guy you are seeking. In short...I sometime get frustrated with various Sox related moves but I damn sure know I couldn't do his job. I don't know who the best GM in baseball is... but pretty sure he isn't on this forum.
  14. I agree. I've made this point two dozen times. He should act like he's in charge...not the hitter.
  15. Every fan has his own eye test. Why do you want to use the eye test of someone else. I think this is particularly true of framing statistics.
  16. I want no part of trading Madrigal. He's going to be a good one. Moncada is a better third baseman than he was ever going to be a second baseman. If I was going to get one of Machado or Harper...Harper would have been my choice.
  17. I would have taken Brantley / Cain every time with the guys currently in our system.
  18. Leaning 51-49 in favor of a 2 or 3 year extension for Jose if the price is reasonable. I certainly would not give him away with anything other than a fair offer. Same exact feeling I have concerning Colome.
  19. He fits the bill for me. I know some want a lefty. That might be best but I'll settle for best all around player. I want a good defender because you can't have two Eloy's in your outfield. I sometimes wonder if we've given Cordell enough of a chance. He actually is a 5 tool player but none of the tools are elite. He also has no glaring weakness that stands out under such limited play.
  20. I suspect that Estate Law will drive JR's decision concerning selling the team. He's a tax attorney and I'm sure has had his departure worked out years in advance.
  21. Or could have wound up with Joc Pederson. Just depends on team and circumstances.
