  1. Still...not much to lose other than Jerry's money.
  2. I have been an advocate for Keuchel & Cease for quite a while. No cost in current trade chips and a chance to compete in division and wild card races. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Keuchel on a 3 or 4 year contract or only this year if that's what he wants. He would be worth the 15 million or so in fan interest and marketability.
  3. Some on this board amaze me with their low regard for Abreu & Colome. A top run producer & a top tier closer are worth more than some scraps. The only reason to trade either at this time is for the overpayment received when a contender perceive them to be the missing piece. We can always wait until the offseason if nothing exciting is offered.
  4. My point. They are not trying to help us.
  5. Well I guess that trade won't be happening then.
  6. Some fans here would think he would be 1 win if drafted by us. I suspect when discussing elite players the variances would be minimal. Coaching can only do so much. Great players are driven to be the best.
  7. Trout drafted #22 in his class. All the genius minds in baseball were not in on that one either.
  8. I doubt Cleveland trading with us short of an overpay.
  9. Two teams with identical records. One is going into an historically good period in the franchises life. The other...not so much.
  10. You never know with Jerry. He got us Abreu,Fisk and Belle. Every time people said he was to cheap to get it accomplished.
  11. He's the cheapest pitcher available since it's only money. No Sox players involved in a free agent signing. Top pitchers available for trade cost a kings ransom this time of year. I fear he will have a lot of rust but nothing to lose except Jerry's money.
  12. We need to sweep Cleveland and on to Washington. Minnesota should be listening for our footsteps. We're coming!
  13. We are .500 after tonight. Time to start thinking like this and build from there. We just might surprise a few people.
  14. You and I don't know what the FO is going to do with these two guys. We may have an opinion but we are not the decision makers. I was not making a case for anything but rather pointing out that decisions on Abreu & Colome are near and the team could go in several directions. As so many things in life...it's trying to improve the overall teams while using as few resources as possible. Every player is tradeable and every player is available if the price is right.
  15. I agree that would be a good plan. With Robert getting here soon and both Tilson & Garcia doing well...we have options.
  16. Going to call it a night. It's Eastern time where I live. Goodnight.
  17. He's a beast. That's one guy I would bet on bouncing back to full strength.
  18. IMO you are in a better position to win and have players with trade potential rather than hope a draft choice pans out in 3 or 4 years. I want more instant gratification since we've waited long enough.
  19. The offseason will depend on what the Sox do with Abreu & Colome. If they trade them...we've given up on 2019. If instead they pickup someone like Keuchel and promote Cease they are making a run now. In any event...if things go the offseason route I like some of your ideas. I'm a big fan of McCann so not so much into the idea of Grandal and his cost. We already have a good pen and Gio when he is joined by Kopech, Cease & Lopez is certainly way better than today. My outside the organization additions would be pitching-pitching & more pitching.
  20. I'm not ready to give up on this season yet. Injuries on Minnesota and acquire a few decent pitchers and things change in a heartbeat. This is May 31st.
  21. This ain't over til the Sox FO says its over.
  22. Jose with 50 rbi and 15 HR. Who would have thunk it.
  23. I know. Just saying there are things you can do without trading anyone. Two starters of that caliber would really propel the rebuild.
  24. My immediate goal is to get over .500 and stay over. When your over that level a good month can propel the team. Injuries on the opponents team and acquisitions on ours can happen overnight with ease. Minnesota is no way unstoppable.
