  1. Sure glad we didn't waste our limited resources on that other guy they were interested in.
  2. With what Moncada and others are doing around him---it seems Abreau is not diving at some of stuff he was chasing in the past.
  3. 3 & 3 sure feels a lot better than 2 & 4. Great game to win.
  4. Fox was a 12 time All Star, 1959 MVP, 3 time Gold Glove and Hall of Fame member. He only hit one or two homers per year. Lots of ways to be of value.
  5. The man knows how to work a walk. Has a very professional approach.
  6. If we could all agree on which player excites us the most we would all have matching jerseys.
  7. I can't remember being this anxious for a future player. This comment is not aimed at Yomer. He will be just fine after he gets the rust off. Madrigal has the qualities of Nellie Fox of bat control and GG defense that makes things happen. I am expecting him to be my favorite player for the next decade. The skills that Madrigal has don't take many days off. Slumps are very rare. I am keen on Robert, Cease, Kopech, Adolfo, Rutherford etc.. My money is on Madrigal being considered our MVP in a few years. Homers are sexy but consistency like Madrigal shows is rare.
  8. Robert is a sure thing. Between Adolfo, Basabe & Rutherford I like our chances. I was very happy to see improvement in Rutherford.
  9. Palka has caught the ball better than I was expecting. Doesn't have much arm. If he was hitting like last year I would be satisfied until reinforcements arrive.
  10. Alonso has been a pleasant surprise for me. Our line-up looks far more hit-er-ish ( my word) since he replaced Davidson types we have used. Hard to explain since he is hitting for little or no BA. He takes walks and every hit seems to be a rope. He passes the eye test. His defense is also a nice plus over previous Abreau backups. Type of veterans to have as we wait for the next wave.
  11. Total agreement! Include Cease & Kopech in this group.
  12. Extensions are here to stay. Really hard for a mid-payroll team to pay for top end free agents. Tie up that kind of money and years on one player instead of extending your control of Kopech, Cease, Robert, Madrigal, Moncada and others makes no sense to me. The Sale, Q, Eaton deals all worked out well. Only Danks extension was a bomb. I would love for the Sox to follow this path in the future. As a matter of fact--guys like C. Rondon should probably be moved a couple years from end of contract if they are not interested in extensions. Just my opinion.
  13. For awhile I would like to see: Palka platooned with Cordell Rondon start at second Covey used in long relief only Jones used for 6th or 7th before any base runners are on Colome & Herrera used to cover 8th & 9th when important game is on the line
  14. Not one of his better games. Although I think he's an all around solid player everyone knows he would be better suited for infield backup. Would really like Rondon to get a chance. He looked pretty clutch in Spring.
  15. Love the move. He's looked great this Spring. When Madrigal comes up our infield will make us all proud. Guys like him just make things happen.
  16. With Jon Jay on the 10 DL--we get a good look at Palka, Garcia and Engle and how Rick uses these guys. Palka's ability to handle right field is a big question mark for me. I like Jay as a role player and predict we're glad to have him before it's over. Although I love what Palka does for the offense he has to catch the ball. He's been passable in the games I've watched but will wait to see him when the bright lights go on. He has slimmed down quite a bit so am hopeful.
  17. Our left side of the infield looks pretty good to me. Look for both guys to make major strides.
  18. 86 plus Much improved bullpen & and line-up. If starters over perform we compete for the division. Can't wait until more of you jump on the bandwagon.
