At 10 M per year, Escobar was more than affordable IMO. I assume therefore that they have a better player in mind. Yes...I know what is said about when you assume.
-
If the Sox wanted Escobar we could have had him. They have something better in mind IMO.
-
The owners will be satisfied with what they have. They will not be satisfied to make less money so that the players can have more. The fan will be paying for whatever it is that the players win. This is a no-win situation for the fan IMO.

Sounds like he has some attitude problems but the same could be said about AJ.

There are employees in every profession that feel underpaid. However, not many professions have the salaries of professional baseball players. I don't think many players feel underpaid in reality. I haven't seen any explanation of how any ask from the union would improve the average player's compensation at all. I have used Leury as an example since we all know he signed a three-year contract at 5.5 million per year. He is a nice but average player IMO. My belief is that Leury feels well compensated and is just happy as a clam with his pay envelope. He will not be happy to miss out for let's say 3 months of the largest paychecks of his life for a new deal that will gain him absolutely nothing. Lastly, it seems to me that players being allowed free agency sooner would play into the hands of a few teams who already have a money advantage over the competition. There is no reason why I want to give the Yankees another advantage over my team.

The Northsiders would be just as guilty as the WS. I might try to get interested in minor league baseball (Southbend Cubs). I was a frequent game goer for the Corpus Christi Hooks AA team when I lived in Texas. Good baseball without Major League prices.

"Round and round it goes...where it stops...nobody knows."

You are very impressive. Are you 14 or perhaps a little younger?

If the union position was about a higher minimum wage I would support it as I have said before. This stoppage is more about arbitration than anything else. The issues being discussed like universal DH and minimum wage could be agreed on in a couple of short meetings. You will also note that I used the term rich people rather than rich players. Both sides of this work stoppage are nuts IMO. You sound like you are the sole arbitrator of what people can say and think on this forum. If being obtuse means not being in lockstep with every/any union action because they are always in the right...you have me there.
-
It's not a me-first attitude to know when you and your fellow workers have it good. I know you think all the good makeup guys support the union. When a person doesn't agree with you try explaining why he is wrong rather than using name-calling.
-
What concessions is the union being asked to take? Sometimes you need to be happy with what you have.
-
If I am the average MLB baseball player making 4.17 million per year...I would be asking myself what's in it for me. Not much would be my answer.
-
If all we get is 60 games...they can play them without me. It would be fun watching the whole pack of spoiled rich people cut off their noses to spite their faces.

Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?

Now we have to be careful what we like. The site police will ask you to defend your position on any and all subjects. -

I don't remember being overly happy with the Kimbrel trade or the TL signing. -

Can you imagine Frank or Paulie in the outfield? Vaughn was fantastic under the circumstances. He's a good athlete who can hit. I have every faith that he will be a big bat in a year or two. He is the heir apparent at 1st base. We need a bit of patience until his time comes. -

FYI it is not easy to get a flounder in a net. -
Where do you get that I am bitter about any of it? I have a very strong opinion that the players and owners already make ridiculous money and they will continue to do so. If the players achieve major concessions from the owners it will be the fans that pay those higher costs.
-
Of course, they would honor the picket lines Texsox. The players are the little guys well deserving of our support. The owners are the bad guys deserving of our scorn. This is true of all employees and all owners.

Can't disagree with anything you said here.

You should try not to be intolerant of people with different views than your own. Name-calling is a grade school thing.
-
You should buy a team with a group of friends. You make it sound like anyone can make a small fortune doing it.

Perhaps a disease could sweep across the World and wipe out 2/3rds of a season. I know...unlikely but it could happen.

So he was overpaid and didn't produce...therefore cut. The situations are the same but just don't fit your narrative. -

Jerry is not my boy but I sure don't think he is evil incarnate. Why didn't you bring up JR allowing RH to cut Eaton which was probably a 5 million mistake? Each situation is separate and I think RH has a plan for Kimbrel that is not dumping him for salary relief.
