  1. Just like you and I... the houses and stocks and bonds, etc. all become part of their net worth. As you know, many people are millionaires who never had a 100 thousand per year job. By my count, the WS club has 22 multi-millionaires who are on the major league roster. If those 22 players are not millionaires they really should cut down on the fast food and high-priced women.
  2. I would hope you are correct but most folks here have some doubts. I actually have spoken of being confident that RH would not have extended him without being very sure he can unload for a decent value. After all...he could have bought himself out of the problem for $1 million. I still will feel better once the deed has been accomplished.
  3. In the case of Kimbrel, I hope you are wrong. If it wasn't a jacked ball or a shortened season we have no story to help sell him.
  4. So what is the explanation for the wild variations in both players' performances?
  5. I was suggesting the first half of the season to the second.
  6. I find it impractical to explore all rosters in baseball when responding to a forum statement. The use of the current WS roster was to refute Tnetennba's point of 75% of players are not millionaires...is just not accurate. These employees vs employer debates are useless since people have preconceived opinions of who is right or wrong. We all have our biases even though many claims to be impartial.
  7. When you consider the 2nd half hitting of Hernandez and the 2nd half pitching of Kimbrel...Holy S**t Batman.
  8. There are 16 multi-millionaires on the WS roster and of the players pre-arb... 6 of those guys had signing bonuses in excess of 1 million.
  9. I probably post 25% of my usual pace but you are correct that it's not at 0% yet.
  10. As I have said before...I'm not going to lose any sleep over the millionaire players or the billionaire owners. I'll watch and play golf and let them worry about their differences. They aren't worried about me and I won't spend any time worrying about them.
  11. Both sides need a work stoppage to prove they are really serious. After a few weeks of not talking they will get together again and agree it looks hopeless. Somewhere in late January, they will announce we are in danger of a delay in Spring games and pushing back the season. When the players realize the paychecks aren't coming and the owners can't sell tickets they will get serious on both sides. Very predictable and aggravating to the fan who just wants to watch his team and dream of titles.
  12. We shouldn't need to kick in anything IMO. To be honest...just like most Sox fans, I would happily kick in a sweetener just to be rid of the Kimbrel problem. There are no available 2nd basemen that get me excited.
  13. Why not make a trade that both teams probably could see as improving their current team?
  14. They love Kimbrel. Seems like a match made in Heaven. A scrub 2nd stringer for the best closer in baseball. No brainer!
  15. It's not too late to offer Kimbrel to the Cubs for Madrigal.
  16. As I understand this Kimbrel situation we could have paid out 1 million and not picked up the 16 million option. That would have left 15 million to do anything the organization would like including keeping it. I think it is obvious the FO is of the opinion they can receive more than 15 million in trade value. They might be wrong but that is the only explanation that makes sense. They could have filled 2nd base with a competent player for less than 15 million so I think a big picture trade must be in the works. I see the Hahn speak of using him ourselves as just posturing.
  17. Gee...and here I thought if the price of payroll goes up the owners might raise the price of their products. Learn something new every day around here.
  18. You seem to be under the impression that whatever the players win in these negotiations will be paid for from the owner's profits. The owners will be happy that fans like yourself don't mind the new higher cost he will be passing on to the fans. Both sides make ridiculous money and it is out of hand and not good for the sport IMO.
  19. To be clear...both sides of this work stoppage are equally to blame IMO. They have had years to work out their differences. Just annoying!
  20. Yeah...when a guy as talented as Leury can only get paid 5.5 million they obviously need a work stoppage.
  21. Cub fans love him. Please work up a trade of Kimbrel for Madrigal. The Cubs don't even need to add a deal sweetener.
