Are you saying more conservatives have died than liberals?

Hamilton is a good example of why young guys should think long and hard before turning down a fair extension offer. Bad stuff can happen to anyone.
-
If you watch Tim Anderson and Derek Jeter actually play day after day...Tim will be the Gold Glove winner IMO.
-
As you point out...the depth of our lineup just wears a pitcher out. Even when a pitcher seems to be rolling along he will hit a wall and the roof caves in.

Foodies: Sox/Giolito discussing an extension?????
poppysox replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I suspect it would be of the fair variety. He appears to like the organization and generational wealth means not working the signing table at Sox park in your golden years. Like everyone...he would prefer not sponging off the folks. These are not dumb guys...they know careers can end in an instant. -
It won't bother me if you are there...but it will bother some people. On the other hand, if my being vaccinated, wearing a mask, and social distancing bothers those same people...they are the ones who should stay home. Don't expect everyone to do it their way. Just my opinion.

Given Hahn's MO...I would be more surprised if he wasn't talking to those players about extensions. -
I like your idea of no divisions and a balanced schedule. Make it 4 teams in each league with each playoff round being 7 games. Get back to the best AL team vs best NL team not whoever got lucky in a few shortened series. A 2 out of 3 series allows for pure luck IMO. The World Series should really be for determining the best team in baseball that year.

I share your view. Does that make me smart??

You can add over 75 years old and where I live 65-year-olds. That list is being expanded quickly. In Arizona, the age groups tend to run a little older as well don't you think? Since I meet all criteria they can do anything they want other than shut down for another year. However, since it's obvious they will limit admittance, I suggested allowing vaccinated people who wear a mask and social distance as the most practical solution.

I am referring to the fact that both looked like such sure things...they were virtually untouchable in trade talks.

White Sox adding Jerry Narron as Major League instructor
poppysox replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I still think the idea of Flowers/Lucroy as a backup catcher and Mercedes as the 3rd catcher/DH to start the season is best. If and when Vaughn is ready we have given a fair showcase for those NL teams or if Mercedes is overwhelming we have Vaughn as the super trade chip. Collins gets to catch every day at AAA and further developed. -
Benintendi always reminds me of Gordon Beckham and his rise and fall. Both looked like sure things to become stars. They both will end up with relatively long careers but with very ho-hum results.

The people sitting around you have some right to expect you did everything possible to not be a risk to them. If I vaccinate...wear a mask...and practice safe distancing I have done everything in my power to protect you. If you are still afraid to go to the game...stay home. Depression is a life-threatening disease as well. We really need to let adults make their own choices as long as they don't interfere with the rights of others.
-
No doubt IMO.
-
Yes, I do understand that vaccine is not 100% effective. But most people will take a 90+% as an improvement over doing nothing. Whatever it takes to get this economy up and going. We simply cannot sit home for another year and watch business and people wither away.
-
Seven inning games and a runner on second base are both distortions of the game IMO.
-
Seems obvious.
-
Proof of vaccination...safe distancing & masks...let people stay home that want to...set a reasonable capacity %...play ball.
-
Maybe...I like when games get turned over to the BP. We have a huge advantage much like KC did a few years back.
-
I admit it...I live in the past. I liked it when the American League champ and the National League champ met in the World Series. These playoff series are about the money...not who is the best team. Yes, I know...those days are gone forever.
-
And sometimes for the better.

I hate that the records are being distorted by rule changes to speed up the game. Who are all these people in a big rush to get the games over with? Part of having built a strong bullpen is to handle the workload of nine-inning games. When you put a runner on second...the effectiveness of a Hoyt Wilhelm type pitcher is reduced because of the pasted ball element. The universal DH has some merit IMO. It does speed up the game by eliminating the double switch over managing and equalizes the fairness of interleague play.

Oops.
