This should be interesting...with the signing of Grandal I would still want Collins and McCann and Grandal to get maximum plate appearances (it will be good for the catchers, since they will get good rest.) Seriously, Is there any way Collins can play RF?
-
God Bless, hope he does well with his next team!

Collins to RF? That sounds absolutely horrid from a defense perspective. The video game mentality of X player can just be moved to X position doesnt work in the real world.
My guess is they move Collins.
That would be stupid to move Collins. He is Grandal but only 25 and can improve.

Terrific hitter in Grandal. Just what the Sox need too with a good hitter that can walk and get on base, nice move. Way to jump on him early! McCann can catch, Grandal to DH, Collins to RF.... That's hot baby!!!!!

Bulls beat Pistons. They have some fun players and they have alot of good players. They need to play better defense. Interesting team.

You are an absolutely new surprise to the board. I love these hilarious sarcastic outtakes you have. Your sarcasm sounds so good that it almost can be seen as being real and true. Funny man, funny funny man.
I'm as serious as a heart attack. Go Sox!

Hope Collins gets a full time shot, love the OBP. Also, maybe try him in RF. If he can hit and get on base maybe plug him in at the #2 with Madrigal leading off. This team is looking funner by the minute!

Did you watch the Astro's this year.
Mostly in the playoffs, but looked at their team stat line and they drew alot of walks and their hitters worked pitchers hard.

Bell is a better than above average hitter and is only 26.

Good point. We also should have kept Moncada down for a couple more years because of his rawness and high strikeout rate.
Same with Eloy. It's not like guys can get better while in the big leagues, so I don't know why we ever call these players up.
If we have better options and want to win games, which is what we should be trying to do, then yes, why call up raw players.

You are the only person on the planet who thinks this.
I get it. Many fans like flash and HR's...but that to me is not what makes a good hitter. Hitters that can work counts, move runners over, get on base, make contact, and sacrifice their own at bats for the best of the team are the best hitters. The Astros hitters are a great example of this.

We literally have no hitters like Dickerson. And he cannot play CF. And we have a CF for the next 7 seasons.
Where do you come up with this shit?
I don't think Robert will be ready this season. He is still too raw and strikeouts way too much.

Never ever look at career stats when talking about a player. If you are going to look at K's look at his K percent especially from more recent years . No Dickerson does not walkvery much but became a contact hitter a few years ago so he is not the same hitter he was earlier in his career. Just don't check stat lines. You have the internet so you can make informed decisions on players. All it takes is a little research.
I don't think a single person has a problem with his K rate.
The question with him is injuries and can he play right fielder having had a few throwing shoulder injuries over the years. His bat is really good.Try looking at career OPS+ and his stats for the last 2 years as a hitter since that's when he decided to cut down on his K's and make more contact.
Ok, looking back at his stat line you convinced me he is a better hitter than I thought, still his k to bb is concerning throughout his whole career. I could say in this day and age he is a little better than average hitter. His 28 doubles in 279 plate appearances is impressive. He hits for a decent average. We have so many hitter like Dickerson in our lineup already, but I'm counting on our players to improve immensely on their k to bb rate. If Dickerson can play CF, you have convinced me he is worth the signing instead of my original thought of Billy Hamilton.

The better question if is Hahn and JR stop being penny pinchers and try and win out of the gate
I'm with you here. If Madrigal hits over .300 in the spring and continues to walk and not strikeout then he should play opening day. Forget the money, we want the wins and to show the AL Central we are serious about winning.

My answer is....yes! His numbers show that he is ready for the MLB level already(minors stats show 51 bb, to 21 k's with a .309 average and .377 obp.) He also won a Gold Glove. He can be placed as the leadoff hitter or even better.... the #2 spot. This can open up Danny Mendick to an outfield position. My idea is to sign Billy Hamilton to play CF and leadoff with Madrigal in the 2 hole.

I literally just called him a platoon option against LHP.
Opps, sorry about that!

Both Leury and McCann rake lefties.
McCann can catch against LHP, and Grandal DH.
You could also put Leury in LF (or RF depending on whoever that ends up being) and slide Eloy to DH against LHP.
Not super concerned about filling the DH spot against lefties.
Please no Leury unless a bench player. 139 k's to 21 bb isnt going to help our offense.

1. Is he a catcher?
2. Is he a part of the core moving forward?
3. Is he just a left handed bat with a high OBP?
4. Is he a trade piece?
5. Or do we need more time to figure out what he is and how he fits?
Can he play right field?

Here's an idea, Trade for Haniger AND sign Corey Dickerson. Dickerson is your primary DH, and spells Eloy and Haniger when necessary or take over left if Eloy continues to be a disaster. Leaves plenty of cash to throw at pitching.
No Dickerson, he has a career 620 k's to 168 bb. We surely dont need more strikeouts. Thats why I vouched for Murphy.

And where does Robert fit in this marvelous plan?
Once he cuts back in strikeouts he can be called up, Maybe Moncada can play 1B with Abreu.
-
I'd go after Rendon, put Moncada in RF, and then sign Billy Hamilton to play center and finally get a leadoff hitter. Mendick can play 2B while Madrigal continues to develop.

Although he will be 35, on that list, I like Daniel Murphy.

That was really neat. I never thought of pitch tipping before the pitch. A batter can try to see the release and the fingers of the pitcher from the hand and the release point, but to go even further and look before the pitch is really neat. Hopefully Coop is keeping our own pitchers not tipping.
What about Collins?

In my opinion Collins needs over 500 plate appearances. McCann 500-550 and Grandal 600.
