  1. Maybe why Dombrowski made him available. He was a TJS candidate in waiting.
  2. 2005 was a year Reinsdorf caught lightening in a bottle with the entire roster. I guess that's the only way we'll get there again with him. I thought after that massive parade that would be enough motivation for this ownership to truly transform this organization. I couldn't have been more wrong.
  3. Great Post. The lack of homework comes from the owner being cute and playing off the evaluations outside the organization instead hiring his own competent scouts that could at least raise the awareness level by questioning/countering what these reports say.
  4. Other than Matt Thornton, I've never understood the fascination with Coop
  5. I'd rather lose with 'stars" of the future up here taking their lumps. Of course that'll never happen because of player control
  6. Too bad he can't pitch like The Johan Santana I know
  7. "Plenty of Tank left in the Engine' Brilliantly sums up the state of this Organization
  8. St.Theo would trade for them in a heartbeat. Do the Cubs have anything we want - other than an owner who doesn't care about spending some bucks?
  9. I can't imagine any other major league sports organization trusting their future to the likes of Kenny-Hahn or Gar-Pax.
  10. Best GM of the Reinsdorf era was Himes. Not even close. For all his other flaws, the guy recognized talent.
  11. Should be in legal at a Fortune 500 company.
  12. And of course you missed the point of what I was saying. Doesn't matter, though. I'm use to the hostility on this site. Everyone wants this team to win. The only people that are in a real position to do anything about it don"t give a damn. And until that dynamic changes it is what it is.
  13. Which means the next owner is going to have to spend some bucks to augment the players they have if we plan on contending during the next decade.
  14. Not sure how old you are but if you have been around to have lived through this entire near 40 yr regime, you'd be a tad pissed out too. I was a Sox fan before Reinsdorf and I'll be one when he mercifully is no longer associated with this enterprise.. I want the next owner to be young, aggressive and highly affluent !!!
  15. I wouldn't own a major league sports team if I wasn't in it to win it. And I certainly wouldn't own one (or two) if I wasn't affluent enough to operate them at a competitive level. But that's me.
  16. Present ownership has made it clear they have no intentions of buying their way out of mediocrity. If they are going to lose 85 to 90 games a year then let it be with the talented farmhands getting on the job training at the MAJOR LEAGUE level. Only a handful of the players on this roster will be on the next contender. Heck, even the games-eating manager won't be here. But of course it's about player control so they won't be elevating the minor leaguers any time soon. But it would at least change the perspective. I would love to see flashes of brilliance from a Robert or Cease. Just give me some reason to hope for a better future. Besides turning a profit with low payrolls on both the West and South sides on town, I have no clue what the true mission of this ownership is. He said sells the Sox but keep the Bulls. That's rather telling.
  17. No he's not The decision-makers / talent evaluators are the problem which is of course leads us right back to ownership. I know this site has plenty of loyal apologists but it is what it is.
  18. They can overcome a 4 run deficient
  19. Why is Cooper still the pitching coach ?
