  1. It's over, it's all over...voting has been ceased! On a lighter note, the Twins lost today 6-7!
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 06:40 AM) not until the all star break at least, which at that time hopefully El Duque and Marte will be healthy enough to return and walker and jenks prob go back down. El Duque is supposed to be back on the 18th of July.
  3. When the season started, all you heard from the Wizard of Oz was that the Sox would be playing "small/smart" ball. I understand that they aren't necessarily swinging for the fences with every At Bat but the stats they have accumulated don't really reflect "small/smart" ball. As a team, they have hit the 5th most homeruns for the season. They are tied at 9th with 354 RBI's. I love that if they aren't swinging for the fences and are still winning ball games, they still manage to hit HR's. I believe as a team, they lead the majors with the most players with double digit HR's as well (currently 5 players with Frank coming up very quickly on that two digit number).
  4. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) I think its a possibility. Hell we're 27 games above .500 and we've only played 73 games. It all relies if the Sox avoid injury annd that they don't have a let down and start playing without any brains and heart just cause they are 10 games up on the Twins. If they keep their heads on straight, sure there's a chance. But im more interested in winning a wold series and im sure the Sox are too. 3 games over .667 and we have only played 71 games...unless the math that says 49 + 22 = 71 is now 73. Just messin' with ya though...
  5. I heard a caller on the Silvy and Carmen (ESPN Radio 1000, 9-12) show bring up a good point. Why don't we raise the standard and keep track of the wins above .667. Right now, we are two games over .667. .667 will get us 108 wins so currently we are on pace to win 110 games. Just a thought to break up the "boring" aspect of watching the team win all the time.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Interestingly, the 1000 signal is much stronger to the east. Both stations actually reach into certain parts of Canada. Several Canadian acquaintances have told me they often listed to Blackhawk games on both 1000 and 670. But yeah, the 1000 signal to the west is awful, it's very fuzzy in the western suburbs after 6 pm or so. It's not the time that determines the signal strength, it's the daylight. In the winter time, you can actually hear them flip the switch around 4:30 p.m.
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 07:02 AM) http://dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=62181 http://www.suntimes.com/output/feder/cst-fin-feder16.html Does that mean we are going to have to get used to a new radio team or do you think the guys from ESPN will move with the team? This is good news for me though. ESPN 1000 can't be heard after dark where I live and the Score comes in like a champ 24 hours a day! Probably a good move from a marketing standpoint.
  8. 2 out of 3 every series gives you 108 victories. Currently, the Sox are ahead of that curve even with the series they lost to Oakland because they took 3 out of 4 from Cleveland this year and split the series with the Angels. Currently, they are on pace to win between 112-114 games based on their current standing. Realistically, they most likely won't reach that number of victories which means they will probably lose a couple of series between now and the end of the year. It's how they respond when they do lose those series is what will make or break the team. As for the series they have won, am I the only one that notices that Ozzie plays different people for the third game of the series once they have won 2. Kinda like he feels that if he loses the third game it's no big deal but if they win, it's a bonus. Let's see who he plays tomorrow night if they win tonight to see if my observation is correct.
  9. I almost fell out of bed last night when I was watching Sportscenter and for the Top Plays of the Day, Jermaine Dye was number 2 with his catch and number 1 with his HR! Is there a changing of the guard at ESPN? I love the fact that we are getting some respect nationally!
  10. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 10, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) You can take out the tags if you want. Thank you! It appears that I have got it working now. Exactly what I was looking for.
  11. I want to add this code to my sig but it needs to be shortened up a lot. I know this can't be used as is so I was wondering if there is someone out there that can get the code right to work for this board. It's pretty simple. It is just the the Standings of the AL Central and doesn't violate any signature rules, as far as I have read anyway. As the code is written, it will update the standings via MLB's stats. Thanks, Steve <div class="pad5tb"><iframe src='http://gd.mlb.com/components/teams/standings/AL_C.html?club=cws' width='207' height='188' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' border='0'></iframe></div>
  12. Ouch! Bases loaded, no outs and Ojeda at the plate...they couldn't hit into a triple play, could they? Nope, he struck out with Bako at the plate now, still loaded on the bases and 1 out.
  13. Too bad the Sox couldn't figure a way to keep Ring and still get Alomar in that trade....
  14. Interesting that you would say this considering that every line I have ever seen closes at the start of a game...at least in baseball. Football, you can bet on halves and quarters but baseball, the line closes at the start of the game.
  15. I have a question about his gambling. Did he gamble on baseball as in the Astros vs. Cubs (obviously choosing the Astros) or did he bet on the Reds to lose a game against any other team? I think that makes a world of difference on where he should be ranked on the "Banned For Life Tree." If he bet on his own team to win, that only says he had confidence in his team to be better than the team they were playing. Still don't see the harm. If he was betting on other teams, well, athletes since have done the same. Give him a break! That being said, if he did bet on the Reds to lose, let him stay in exile!
  16. I thought I saw that Buehrle had shaved his sideburns off when I watched the game Friday....
  17. Here it is US News article with Daley and the Sox
  18. Great! I can't wait for this trip. I guess we will get our tickets on the 3B side then. Thanks for the information.
  19. A bunch of us are going to a KC/White Sox game in KC on September 25th...leaving Chicago at 12:54 pm, arriving in KC at 2:36...going to the game at 7:05 and coming back the next day at 7 am. We got a hell of deal. $96 on the airfare, $50 per night per room on hotel and renting a car for $30-$60 (not sure on the type of car we are going to get yet)...tickets are so cheap there too! KC cheapest is $5 and most expensive is $22 and that is for the infield box. We are going to get tickets this weekend but I have a question for anyone that has been to Kauffman Stadium. Where is KC's dugout at that field? We want to get our tickets behind the White Sox dugout and it has come to my attention that not every home teams uses the 3B sideline as their dugout. Is this the case with the Royals? Next question, with this series coming at the very end of the season, how likely is this series going to matter to the Sox? Will they be the AL Central Champions by then? Will it be between the White Sox and Royals? Will the White Sox need to win to fend off the Twins? Will the Sox need to win to catch the Twins?
  20. 1) Who will win the series (CHW/ANA/Split) (2 points)? CHW 2) Will Frank Thomas have at least 4 hits (Y/N) (2 points)? Yes 3) How many errors will the Sox make (4 points)? 3 4) Who will lead the Sox in extra-base hits (4 points)? Ordonez 5) How many homeruns will the Sox hit (5 points)? 5 6) How many baserunners will Mark Buehrle allow (5 points)? 6 7) How many games ahead or behind will the Sox be in the AL Central (4 points)? +1.5 8) Will Neal Cotts get a win (Y/N) (2 points)? Yes 9) Will the Sox have any ten-hit games (Y/N)(2 points)? Yes 10) Will Gary Glover allow an earned run (Y/N) (2 points)? No TIEBREAKER: Pitch count for Neal Cotts 85
  21. Am I wrong with the information that because the White Sox invoked the diminished skills clause in his contract, he is eligible to become a free agent at the end of this year again? A friend and I were discussing it and were having trouble verifying it. If, in fact, this is true, would the team that signs him be signing a fresh contract or would they be required to sign him for the almost $40 mil that the Sox owe him?
  22. Thanks...looks like the site I have been looking for all year!
  23. Interleague play in September with Arizona? That is pretty unusual...is it a makeup game from June?
