Sorry, this isnt your typical big 12 game when 100 points is the usual with no defense to speak of. Big 10 and Big East basketball has always been about defense, but that 1st half was just plain sloppy. Looked like most of the players were nervous, but the last 5 minutes they seemed to slow it down. This zone is really causing some bad passes, im hoping the 2nd half they can open it up more. Go illini!

One thing Illinois has had in the last 5 years is depth.... we seem to always have an 8 to 9 man deep squad... What should be interesting is whether McBride will get eneugh playing time to get comfortable before the big 10 season, because his first game was this past saturday, and the big 10 schedule is coming up, not sure if Weber will have eneugh trust in him to play in bigger games... I dont know about everyone else, but I'm thinking we are going to put on a show for a national crowd that will be watching this game, expecially with everyone waiting for the Arizona/Texas game to be on, there will be a lot of viewers. ESPN says that Providence is the country's best kept secret(http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=katz_andy&id=1681437) ... Hopefully, our defense can hold that secret to a minimum. Deron is playing so awesome right now, and here's hoping that Dee can play better than he did last time he was on ESPN(NC game in the challenge). Providence is 3-1, and their loss came to the hands of a good Rhode Island team... Im thinking we will start off hot, this team is going to start to gel, why not start now before the Memphis + Missouri games. My prediction---> Illinois 78 Providence 64 Go Illini! No, it wasnt much of a game, but that no look pass from Deron to Powell for the dunk on that fast break was worth the 40 bucks.... We do need to get a UCONN in the United Center next december, so we can draw a sellout like we did 3 years ago against Arizona or 4 years ago, against Duke in the Challenge.... Cause we only had about 14-16 thousand there... Go Illini!

Agree? Disagree? Also, i have a QB contreversy... since my qb's have been horrible.... Ok... i have Plummer at home against KC.... Garcia at home against Arizona, and Flutie @ Detroit.... In my opinion it seems like they all will probably get around 2 td's and about 250... but a 2nd opinion couldnt hurt Im in first right now in my league (with guys like Priest, J. Lewis, S. The whole thought of our best offensive player last year being a bench guy backing up crede is rediculus... Carlos played harder than anyone last year, and if it wasnt for Loaiza, he would have been our team mvp.... He's been doing great in LF the last 2 years, except for maybe domes such as minnesota and toronto, basically error free, webgem play every night from the big fella.... soooo anywayyyss... Yeah, i agree.. But i did love those southern suits he wore... that game 2 years ago, he wore an all cream colored suit... It was like he was going to church after the game...

Just curious, im hoping we score a lot of points early to try to get a nice lead b4 the break, because last time we played arkansas, it was our annual december game at the UC and we barely held on when arkansas got called for a charge as the shot went in so they would have won.... i havnt really checked out Arkansas's squad this year, but i know they are 3-0, so it should be a good game... I go to the December U.C. game every year, it always has a great crowd there, and they even announce our lineup with the bulls starting lineup song and the lights off... Anyyyyywayy... Go illini!

Is it safe to say Spiff that you hate the Big 10 and regardless of what they do this year or any other year in the past is ignored? True the big 10 is down this year, but Purdue, Iowa, and Michigan have played much better than expected, Illinois will be solid all year(especially with their tough non-conference schudule to get them ready for the big 10 season) and teams like Mich St and Wisconsin will be in the mix as well... so even in an off year, a solid 6 teams will be in the dance again, and you can never count out a team from the big 10 in the tourney, just look at the results in the last 5 years. go illini!

I dont think we have taken any team lightly, expecially from the ACC, if those 2 games were played in Champaign/or the UC, and at Madison/ or the Bradley Center, i belive the big 10 would be up 3-2... so home court was huge tonight, expecially in some close grueling games. That wisconsin game was heartbreaking, and just watching Roy Williams and Gary Williams makes me want to go into the TV and strangle them for f***ing b****ing and aruging every call like nothing ever goes their way.... Izzo and Coach K are just like that, although it must work fairly well, since all 4 of them will end up being part of the best b-ball coaches of all time... That said... Go illini

No doubt, Weber is a great coach and im so glad he came here. We just need to get stronger... we played like we did in 1999-2000 when frank williams and brian cook were freshman as we are weak when it comes to post moves and aggressive defense. The way Deron and Powell played though is a couple bright spots in the game.... Dee just rushed his shot, he'll get it back next week at the UC againts Arkansas(anyone else going to that game?) And that game will be a test as well... well... i guess heather is happy that Illinois lost, so at least i know one person is happy... but overall this has been one frustrating day, and to be down 4-1 to the ACC makes me sick... Go illini!

They miss Cook for the inside game, because Augustine/Powell is the best post up guys for now, and Smith is just too soft. And he's not hitting his shots, which is even worse...

Not a bad half, except for that s*** at the end when they were careless which caused them to be down 6... Powell and Deron stepped up huge, we need Dee to have a huge 2nd half to win this game. Hopefully we can contain May down low a little better, maybe some double teams, but they have too many 3 point shooters so its tough... Go Illini!
