  1. For the life of me I cannot understand why a Manager would be calling for a hitter in 15-4 game to be taking on 3-0. That seems far more insulting and unsportsmanlike than whacking the crap out of a lob ball from the 3rd string catcher on the mound. And is that any more disrespectful to the game than putting that clown into pitch? I will just say that in my days as a girls softball coach, in a game that we were up big before the slaughter rule took effect, I told the kids to swing at any pitch - we were not going to prolong the game, and add to the score, by taking walks. If the batter powders it, hats off to them - otherwise it is up to the defense to do their job. Would it be more respectful to the game, if Yermin went up and batted left handed?
  2. I saw that Yermin had been used my mistake on that. I get that Eaton is hurt, but he could have at the very least pinch hit - he is still on the roster. As you said, anyone but Hamilton. What the hell, send Dylan Cease up there, he certainly is a better hitter than Hamilton.
  3. Isn't somebody on the staff responsible for fully knowing and understanding all of the rules? If not, than again I say an indictment on the staff and the organization.
  4. Agree 100% with all of these. 1. Why not double switch Mendick for Madrigal, instead of Lamb for Vaughn. 3. Sounds like LaRussa called for the steal, which is beyond ridiculous. Of course your top closer who probably has not been running bases in a few years, is not going to read that and score on the double steal. If trying to avoid the DP, the IF was playing for the play at home - Hamilton is unlikely to be doubled up - and most of all Hamilton would have to actually make contact with the ball. 5. Hamilton absolutely should not have been allowed to bat in that situation. He is not a major league hitter, no way he could hit a fly ball that would be deep enough to score Hendricks. You have Collins, Mercedes, Mendick, and Eaton available to pinch hit. I get that Eaton is banged up, and needed a day off, but he can PH and play the field for an inning. Chose to not even watch the bottom of the 10th, knowing full well how it would play out. Lastly, I will say that LaRussa not knowing that a pitcher does not have to be the runner is inexcusable. BUT, there are a helluva lot of coaches in the dugout and bullpen, and if none of them knew that rule either then that is quite an indictment on the entire staff and the organization that brought them in. It is time for LaRussa to step away, and I think the Hamilton/Garcia/Lamb days need to be over. You keep veterans who can contribute off the bench, not veterans who bring nothing.
  5. That is actually a great idea! I don't foresee much in the way of contributions from Eloy this season, Robert's injury looks like it could be a come and go type after he is out for awhile, Eaton is also looking creaky. Bryant would give the team incredible flexibility, both IF and OF.
  6. Would they possibly go for a straight up or Ozuna, and either Garcia or a minor league OF? The money would match pretty well. And I know Ozuna is not tearing it up right now, but he is a major league OF, who is far better option than Lamb, Hamilton, William, Gonzalez, or Garcia.
  7. This is probably a very out there thought, but the Braves are hurting big time for a catcher. Is there a serviceable outfielder on the Braves and maybe a reliever, whom they would be willing to trade for Grandal. Then we could re-sign Lucroy, and platoon him with Collins. There is no way that combo can be any worse offensively or defensively than Grandal, who we are on the rope with for a lot of years and money.
  8. THIS 100%!! Encarnacion done. Cordero and Fry done. Gonzalez looks like he just took care of being done. And Mazara is definitely borderline.
  9. IF Garcia is healthy enough for post-season, they MUST make Encarnacion inactive. He is absolutely atrocious, doesn't even hustle (the few times he hits the ball) - and Garcia gives the team so options in the field. That last at bat should be the last one EE ever takes as a member of the White Sox.
  10. Why even take Cordero out. Five batters, three dink hits - no balls hit hard. He was battling back, give him a shot at getting out of it. But, no bring in a non-reliever who hasn't thrown in a MLB game in 45 days to piss away another game. And then have nobody warming up, ultimately getting Ruiz up. That is just horrific managing, and giving a game away.
  11. Do coaches work with players anymore? The slumping hitters have been on a downturn for awhile now, and every at bat is the same thing. Robert specifically seems to have made no adjustments. Swing for the fences, head flying out, no discipline, etc... Sure, they do have a hitting coach, but it sure seems like nothing has changed. Do they look at film and compare the hot streaks with the slumps, and see where the flaw might be? Every night of late seems, to be the same old thing. This group swings and misses at more bad pitches than any I have seen this year, and takes more good ones down the middle than most. And I get that the slumps can be very wearing, but the body language of Robert right now is awful.
  12. IF the forecast is accurate, tonight could be a rain out. That could be beneficial for the Sox, with a 7 inning DH tomorrow, and only having to cover 14 innings on the mound.
  13. Grandal has not been impressive as a catcher most of this season, seems slow and lazy. McCann should be catching most days, and I would sure rather see Grandal at DH over EE. I also think the Mazara experiment needs to be put on hold - I have never seen a player watch more good pitches go by.
  14. The Sox could use an innings eater, who might still have a little left in the tank. In looking at the non-rostered players with the team, I noticed Clayton Richard on there. By no means is he the missing link, and last year he struggled, so he might not even be a possibility at this stage....but, has anyone heard any news as to how he has looked in Schaumburg?
  15. This is exactly why I am struggling watching the White Sox since the all star break. Until last night they have had no life, unlike the first half. Then you see the line-up they put out and and sure doesn't make it must see for me. Yes, guys are hurt. But, call up the young guys. Sure they will struggle, but they will learn. Robert, Madrigal, Mendick, and Collins should be up. No need to see more of Jay, Sanchez, Engel, or Castillo. Thankfully somebody saw the light that Rondon and Reed have no reason to be here. There HAS to be another pitcher to call up and take a look at besides Covey. Assuming the goal in a couple of years is a WS, then let's see players who will be part of that, because Covey won't be. For crying out loud he was pulled a week ago after throwing 14 pitches, and was both the starter and not injured. That is unheard of!
