  1. He's still tradeable in the off season with his low salary next year. Probably thought they could get a better deal then.
  2. He would've helped us next year too, but obviously there is a fine line in what you're willing to give up for that.
  3. Let's hope its not the Twins
  4. I really would like Lynn but I don't mind standing pat either. If Hahn didn't get a deal he liked I'd rather he didn't push the envelop to get it done.
  5. I don't see how helping drive Clevingers price up would drive Lynn's down.
  6. Rangers only announced Minor deal a few minutes ago. Entirely possible they have a deal in place contingent upon outcome of that trade.
  7. Why in the world would KW do that, though? It would only help Cleveland. He isn't an idiot.
  8. What if he calls up Mercedes??
  9. I don't know, I think it does mean that. There were no ifs, ands or buts about his claim.
  10. I suspect so. Its on page 38. Lynn for Collins and Heuer along with names from Adolfo/Strivers/Thompson is a done deal is the claim. Compared to your prediction of Collins/Heuer/Adolfo/Stiever
  11. This is the post to which I was referring
  12. Probably would have to give up one of Kopech/Dunning/Cease in that case given his longer period of control. Shorter term guy like Lynn makes sense because that gives time for next wave to develop and compete for spot in '22. Who knows maybe a year in the pen and Lopez might get himself together enough to rejoin the rotation. Over the next year, I think Lynn is the better pitcher compared to Woodruff as well. Theoretically, given his paltry salary next year, Sox could use him as trade bait and recoup some of the prospect talent if the Sox are ready to go Gio/Keuchel/Kopech/Cease/Dunning at some point as well. You wouldn't have that option with a woodruff trade.
  13. I would imagine whoever trades for him intends to pick up his option.
  14. And he managed to do it without being the number three starter in a playoff rotation. Playoffs are not the time to work on mechanics. He can do that in spring training and throughout the season.
  15. That does sound suspiciously close to a prediction someone posted here last night. Pretty much exact actually.
  16. That means you win $500 on one dollar?
  17. I don't think anyone is advocating taking him out of the regular rotation. This is pretty much a strawman argument.
  18. It isn't the lack of experience that is Cease's issue here, its his lack of control of his mechanics. I'd rather send Dunning out there and he obviously has less experience
  19. Lesser ilk? Lynn has a 9.6 WAR since the beginning of 2019. If Cease ever gets to that level, it will be a massive success. Add Lynn and the Sox have a good chance of going all the way, and sets them up nicely for '21 at a budget price. Getting bumped out of the playoff rotation isn't going to hurt Cease long term
  20. He'd probably still be used out of the bullpen or get a start or two from the fourth spot if he can out pitch Dunning the rest of the way. I don't see good teams sacrificing in the playoffs to give a young player experience. He can get experience in '21 if he can gain control of his mechanics.
  21. Who knows. All I know is, anything there is you could think of a person could do, there is someone somewhere doing it.
  22. I'm a believer in Cease long term. Just think he'll likely get lit up in 2020 playoffs. I think he's going to be like Garland, probably be at least a couple years before he puts it all together. I think Lynn could be had without giving up those three. Something like the Stiever package someone posted earlier
  23. Lynn is a way better pitcher than you apparently think he is imo. To me, he is close to Giolito at the moment, probably between Giolito and Keuchel..
  24. Yeah. I don't think Cease's tightrope walk is going to hold up in the playoffs.
  25. I think Cantillo is close to a top line talent. IMO he is under ranked due to the conservative nature of most of the ranking systems. For example, Robert and Dunning have recently been underrated imo, in their cases due to health issues. Im sorry, Robert was a top 5 MLB prospect from the moment he signed, but he didnt produce one year so they hedge their bets although the actual potential never changed. Dunning dropped after TJS but obviously the potential didn't actually fade. In Cantillo's case, I believe he is underrated simply due to inertia. They don't want to say a guy is a top 100 prospect when a couple years ago he wasn't on their radar. But IMO, he is a top 100 prospect. Knowing the Indians, he'll probably be another stud in their rotation
