  1. Quantrill was never rated close to Cease as a prospect. Basically a B-/B prospect compared to an A-/A. Naylor was rated close to or as a top 100 prospect a year ago so and is still only 23, not sure that is a good comparison either. I guess maybe they'd even each other out, but I don't think the Pads gave up anyone at Cease's level
  2. Cantillo is the sleeper here. The dude is a beast, underrated in the SD system. Probably 1-2 years away though.
  3. I don't think the Sox would have to give up Kopech or Dunning to acquire Lynn considering he's only signed through next year. A package of secondary prospects starting with Steiver might do it
  4. Yeah, normally I'd agree with you and probably will again when I wake up, but at the moment I've been persuaded Kopech is in fact a fruit loop who may have a bunch of horse shit aside from his ability prevent him from contributing as he is capable. In this case a Woodruff in hand may be worth a Kopech in the bush. Dunning looking like an absolute stud probably has swayed me a bit as well. I'd rather keep both of them and get Woodruff, but I doubt that is possible. If Dunning is for real, the Sox could still have an excellent rotation without Kopech. I'd rather just trade for Lynn without giving up either of them, although Woodruff's long term controllability is attractive.
  5. No. I'm extremely high on Vaughn though. Like potential top three hitter in Sox history high on Vaughn.
  6. Aw hell no. I'd give up Kopech and a package for Woodruff but not Vaughn for Hader, which is essentially what you'd be doing here. Vaughn is a can't miss stud, I don't give that up for a reliever I don't care how good he is. This guy is a wizard with a baseball bat. If this guy isn't a top five hitter in all of baseball by 2024, I'll eat my hat.
  7. I do. He looked unbelievable in his one ST appearance, and the extra time off after TJS may actually be beneficial in the long run. The man has a lightning bolt for an arm, that is not going to change unless he suffers another major injury.
  8. That has to be the reason they're shopping him around, no? They got rid of Bauer faster than Robert turns around a fastball after he threw a ball into center field stands, and now shopping Clev after essentially suspending him. Clev and Bauer are basically best pals. If I were an Indians fan I would be so pissed right now.
  9. Four by McCann, three by Grandal. He does have a 2.29 ERA with Grandal compared to 3.04 with McCann, but has lasted longer with McCann: 5.1 innings per start with Grandal compared to 6.2 with McCann. I have to admit that was entirely speculative on my part.
  10. Still doesn't make sense. Even losing steam he still has to be considered viable prospect. Torrens is a decent prospect as well. If this were dynasty league, the trade would be shot down in a NY minute.
  11. Why not? There is a lot of money coming off the books potentially. Don't necessarily need to spend big on a RF either, just need someone solid out there.
  12. Pitcher ERA has to be over 2 runs lower with McCann behind the plate at this point. Last time I checked his ERA was about 3 and that was shortly before he caught 15 consecutive no hit innings. If there is anyone who knows how to pitch on this roster, it is Giolito and Keuchel. Giolito has been clear in his preference for McCann, and I suspect Keuchel does as well. Beyond the actual results, I think Giolito knows what he is talking about.
  13. McCann has clearly out performed him behind the plate though.
  14. Obviously in a vacuum Marte is more valuable, but a weak bullpen could sink the best lineup in the world particularly in the playoffs. Not worth the risk imo when we already have an explosive offense, unless you've got some way of replacing Heuer to follow up.. Can't just rely on the back end of the bullpen in today's game.
  15. Yeah I wouldn't have a problem with that. Having another guy who can go 7-8 innings would in effect deepen the bullpen anyway.
  16. Well, he is probably correct.
  17. Agreed there. Thinning out the bullpen could hurt more than a RF would help considering the lineup is already highly productive. Just stick Engel out there and let the other eight guys do the damage. Its not like he can't hit one 450 feet on occasion himself. I honestly don't get how he isn't the man out there now. Great speed and defense along with good power, that's good enough for this lineup.
  18. You're going to have to give up a major piece to get a Woodruff though. Between Cease, Dunning and Kopech, Cease seems the least refined to me and the most questionable given his erratic mechanics. He has managed to do alright, but he's going to get eaten up against playoff teams if he keeps up the way he has. I'm sure he'll be very good at some point, but I wouldn't call it giving up on him in a trade like that. If you look at the entire chain if this were to happen, you'd have traded Quintana plus any secondary prospects included in Woodruff deal for Eloy and Woodruff. Not too shabby.
  19. Doesn't really matter how old he is when you are already in the window of contention. I wouldn't want Cleveland to have Kopech though, that is for sure.
  20. The only fellas capable of sex for four straight hours will be impotent men with a Viagra prescription and White Sox fans
  21. I wonder if Cease could be a possibility on the major league side. Hard to draw a conclusion from two starts, but it seems like Dunning is actually closer to being fully developed than Cease is. Maybe the Sox wouldn't mind going with Gio/Lynn/Keuchel/Dunning/Kopech in '21.
  22. We already have the core of the next six years on the major league roster, aside from Vaughn. No way you can guarantee any of those prospects will help us win, or the loss of them prevent it either. If we need another starter two years from now, there are other ways of acquiring one.
  23. Take a look at world series team rosters, they are chock full of starting pitchers 34+ years old. #3 pitcher? Maybe if you are the 2019 Nationals. This is definitely the kind of guy you want on a playoff roster.
  24. Lynn would seriously bolster the Sox' chance of winning two world series, when they are otherwise in good position to do that. The Sox could give up the farm without killing the rebuild. Most of the pieces are already in place. If they can do it without giving up Vaughn or Dunning, I say strike while the iron is hot.
