  1. If we're in Baltimore's position in '22, something went seriously wrong. I'd think what the Sox would want is a middle order bat and a top of rotation starter, so no point trading them unless the Sox have flopped with this rebuild. '22-23 are lining up to be the prime years of contention.
  2. Just goes to show, Sox are in great position when the guys we're worried about losing still have four years of control. Anything the Sox can do in '20 is just gravy.
  3. Moncada's not eligibile for free agency until 2024.
  4. So 2022 rolls around and you're looking at two years of legit World Series contention, you trade a couple of your best players for prospects? I'd rather just let them walk.
  5. Ok, I should say it wouldn't surprise me if he struggled to put up a .650 OPS and leave Yolmer out of it
  6. I'm not sure Madrigal should even be called up let alone given an extension. He can barely get the ball out of the infield and consistently hits the ball weakly into the ground. Doubt he will get all those weakly hit balls through the infield, and ducksnorts over the infield, that he has relied on in the minors. He's got some of the weakest contact I've ever seen as a mlb prospect. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he put up numbers similar to Yolmer in the future. He's no Eloy or Robert that much is clear. Maybe he develops into a Carew type hitter, but it's going to take a few years of development regardless. Either way I'm not holding my breath.
  7. Anderson has hit RHP a bit better than LHP though. Being a high average, low obp guy with good pop, I'd bat him 4th or 5th. Something the following vs RHP: Robert Moncada Jimenez Anderson Grandal Abreu Encarnacion Mazara Madrigal against lefties, move Abreu and Encarnacion up to 4/5 and insert Engel for Mazara
  8. I don't know about you all, but I've got Jiggs Donahue pencilled in at lead off.
  9. Hopefully the Sox bring on the 162; 162 mil for 8 or 9 years.
  10. I think Kopech has a Sale level ceiling, and I don't see the Sox having five pitchers of a high enough caliber to bump him anytime soon. He could put up 5+ ERAs, he's still going to get at least 60 starts for the Sox to put it together, just like Lopez and Giolito. Same with Cease. Lopez will be the first to be bumped if anyone, and he'll have to fireball for that to happen before the end of next season.
  11. Mazara trade does make sense, though. He's better than any RFer we currently have, won't block Adolfo or Rutherford if they put it together in the next year or two, or prevent the acquisition of a better RFer in the near future, when some who can actually play a legit RF will be available. If he shows any improvement, he should be tradeable as well.
  12. Teheran has only given up 270 hits in his last 350 innings with a decent home run rate, for this day and age anyway, so he's obviously doing something right. Of course, his control has been a problem, but the Sox could do worse.
  13. I don't see how the Bosox can get a deal done with Ryu and Keuchel still on the board. Why would anyone in their right mind trade for Price when they could sign one of these guys. That said, the Sox can afford to overpay Price for three years if necessary given that most of the roster core is already in place at a payroll far below what they could reasonably sustain. At this point, it is obvious it's going to be up to Giolito, Kopech, Cease, Lopez and Dunning to give us the TOR arms we need. Sox just need someone above a bottom rotation arm, I could care less how much he's paid in the next two to three years. The guys we have now are the fall back options.
  14. I was going to say I like mine medium rare anyway, but I never got around to it.
  15. I'm surprised the Tigers haven't already retired Loooouuuu Whitaker's number, on a side note. Great player back in the day. Lou and Trammel were the heart of that team for a long time, with some of the best teams Detroit ever put on the field. I absolutely hated seeing the Sox play the Tigers then.
  16. A career worst "pitch quality" yet a career high strike out rate. Something doesn't add up there.
  17. I don't see how Price fits in with this ball club. Neither are his abs chiseled, nor his eyes tender, loving or dreamy.
