To all the Posters who think this is such a great move,keep this in mind: . His ERA has gone UP consistently over the last 4 years . His SO's (strikeouts) have gone down . His HPG (hits per game) has gone up as well. It wouldn't hurt to have Greg Maddux in your dugout,but keep in mind he isn't the Maddux of 1995-96.Now THAT would be a great thing. I'd hate to get rid of Magglio,but if you're absolutely,positively,beyond the shadow of a doubt certain he won't re-sign,make the deal.Just make sure Garcia,Soriano and Winn stick around for at least 3 years.But,knowing KW and that asshole Reinsdork,there's no way this trade is made.Nice pipe dream by the Mariners,though.

Read Mike Inrem's column from Sunday,1/25.He also was right on the money,as mentioned earlier.Nothing changes till Reinsdorf sells the team.I truly believe he won't do it just to spite the thinning fan base.

You've finally figured it out.The ownership of this team through its history has resembled the birds (cheap,cheap,cheap).It happened with the Comiskeys,with the Bill Veeck regime,the Arthur Allyn group,the Veeck regime a second time and with the current ownership. I would not put the assclown known as Reinsdork above the Wirtz family.If anything,call it a dead tie.A 58 million dollar payroll is not going to get it done. Yes,baseball needs a salary cap,but it needs ownerships that aren't going to use lack of attendance as a lame ass excuse for not spending money.I agree that the Sox need to spend at least 70-80 mill on the payroll.And as far as the attendance issue goes,people show up when the team is "in the hunt" and competitive.It also helps when ownership doesn't tell the fanbase to "go f*** yourself". That's what Reinsdork and the owners did when the '94 strike hit.And the '97 "white flag" trade didn't help matters any. SELL JERRY SELL!!!!
