  1. JR's quote after receiving award for philanthropic excellence "Really I'm sincere when I say the best thing you can do when you own a sports team is do things in the community" "It's so much more important than winning a baseball game, which is good because we don't win that many" This my friends is what we have to look forward to, an owner that really doesn't want to win.....great!
  2. As we wait for our future to materialize into parades and multiple championships, we are left with this thought.... "With Machado we extended ourselves as far as we could without jeopardizing what we’re going to need to do in the future.” Williams added about Machado, “People are lost on the fact that on a yearly basis our offer was more than San Diego’s. The average annual value was 31 [million] and change. So it was about years guaranteed.” NO it wasn't Kenny, Machado was asking for an opt out regardless of what the final offer in years was so adding a year was a no brainer if you really wanted an impact player. Instead we got Grandal and Keuchel and a bagful of promises about multiple championships
  3. I agree, and he actually brings a glove to the outfield.
  4. Jansen value was because he's a free agent. It's easy for clubs that spend to throw millions at these signings, but when you have to give up players or prospects in return the value diminishes.
  5. Of all the teams looking for a SS, I don't think TA is too high on their list. We think highly to TA, it's the rest of the league that see's no value in his glove. Another example of falling in love with a player we signed to a team friendly contract.
  6. Double talk...."Not looking to move any player...blah, blah, blah "open to significant change" Well how ya gonna do that Rick?
  7. Meanwhile Hahn is having trouble finding the table, let alone a seat at the table.
  8. BINGO, no reason that I can think of. I believe I said not signing Machado or Harper was the reason the Sox rebuild took a turn for the worse. Hell I bought into their rebuild (20 game plan, that I didn't renew this year) in 2019 when Machado and Harper were just rumored to be targets of the Sox. Silly me, fooled by JR and company again since I last bought the 13 game plan in 2006. Exactly what happened with the attendance spike in Philly would have happened here and we wouldn't have to trot out DH/1B to cover right field. If the front office would just "Show Me" by signing a top free agent for once, White Sox fans hungry for a winner will respond and the place would be filled.
  9. I agree, the one thing I've always said is the Sox fanbase has a "show me" mentality as opposed to our North side team fans who attend games for the "Wrigley experience". There's nothing wrong with asking the Sox to "prove it", I just wish our front office would make wiser decisions to get us there. I remember the crowds we attracted in 2006 after winning the WS and had they sustained that success or close to it we wouldn't be talking about attendance. I try to forget the "all in" Adam Dunn, Ken Griffey JR signings.
  10. You are correct, but the blame needs to go to the GM's (Hahn and Kenny) even tho KW is not the GM I don't think Hahn does anything without his blessing.
  11. Call me JR's burner account if you must, but I couldn't agree more on the attendance and TV revenue streams other teams like the Cubs, Yankees, and Dodgers have that the Sox don't. To be in the top 10 with a fanbase that doesn't attend games or have their own TV network is pretty good in my book. Other teams do better with less, which is why we need to look at the GM. Of course the GM is chosen by JR so that's probably the biggest reason for our lack of success.
  12. Spending in the top 5 is not the answer, how long has it been since the Yankee's won, or the Dodgers before their recent WS? Choosing and developing players is the answer, with a mixture of one or two big name free agents. The Cubs had the formula unfortunately their Lester/Ross turned out to be our Keuchel/Grandal which is where the difference was.
  13. White Sox active players payroll in 2022 was 212M https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/payroll/2022/
  14. I would put the blame on the GM's who constructed the line-up with a payroll that justified a better record. Sox have never been at the bottom of the league in payroll with nothing except 2005 to show for it. Look what Cleveland, KC, and Oakland have done with their owners money which was far less than JR gave his GM's.
  15. Do you realize that Scott Boras is Manaea agent?
  16. Couldn't agree with you anymore than I already do. Look what Harper and Machado did in the playoffs, besides being leaders they performed in the clutch. If you had to name one leader on the Sox it would of been Abreu, however he's more a leader by example, not saying that's bad, but we need a leader that can push the team with words. Not signing Harper or Machado when we had the chance was the turning point in our rebuild. Instead we signed former stars who were past their prime. Keuchel, Kelly, Grandal. Not to mention the scrubs we thru out in the outfield, Eaton, Goodwin, Hamilton, Yermin, Gonzalez, Williams, and of course Leury.
  17. Eloy needs to be the DH period, trotting him out to LF only increases the chances when he injures himself or the possibility that he will injure our SS or CF when he tries to make a play he shouldn't. We could have gotten by with Vaughn and Abreu splitting time at DH-1B if we didn't have so many DH's to begin with. I don't think Grandal will hold up behind the plate and if he get's his stroke back we need his Left handed bat in the line-up with the only other place for him being DH. In a nutshell this team is poorly constructed with injury prone (Robert included) players or players that should ONLY be DH'ing, but we've know this for awhile.
  18. In fairness, the Sox spent more money on payroll than any of the teams listed above, so it's a stretch to say they act like a small market club. Granted they don't act like the Yankee's, Dodger's or even the Cubs, but all those clubs have their own TV revenue streams and fan's that fill their stadiums.
  19. I think it was more about Abreu having to DH or split time with Vaughn at 1B, and the plan was to move Vaughn back to his natural position. Jose wants to play on the field, and he will play 162 games at 1B for the Astro's which is the reason he didn't consider the Sox 1 year offer. Not saying the Sox didn't offer more than 1 year, I just doubt it strongly.
  20. Careful what you wish for.....next man up in JR's family tree would be Daryl Boston for GM.
  21. I believe the Cubs will sign Swanson or Turner.
  22. I can do without TA's error's and drama. He can hit, but you need a glove at SS and he just doesn't have it. People pounce of Glyber Torres as not being a good defender 8 errors 4.1 WAR in 135 games last year compared to TA's 12 errors 2.1 WAR in only 79 games. I'd trade for Torres, put him at 2B and wait for Colson in 2024-5. I just don't think there are many teams out there looking for a SS with a hole in his glove and I don't think the return if we were to trade him would be what most expect. My guess is they'll pick-up his 2024 option for 14 mil (bargain) and bring Colson up in September of 2024 or in May of 2025.
