  1. I think Madden just made awful decisions for the Cub's in 2016, but despite Madden they won mainly because Jason Heyward delivered a motiving speech during a well timed rain delay. Ron Washington I'm not so sure about, he had his chances with Texas in 2010 and 2011 and didn't deliver a World Series so why trust him with the Sox. Besides he look's almost as old as TLR.
  2. Win something?.... Willie Harris scored the winning run for the Chicago White Sox in Game 4 of the 2005 World Series, is from the same hometown as Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson.
  3. By hiring Willie Harris, JR would get to keep Daryl Boston and most of his gang. This would be a typical Sox move and IMO set them back years. I would just prefer someone with no connection what so ever with the Sox. That may limit their choices, but it's what this team needs. Then again I could be totally wrong on Willie, mainly because this team had swag before a certain manager was forced on the team and if they could recapture that this team could be dangerous. If Willie brings swag, it could set this team on fire. Not sure they would be able to play good defense, but they'd be fun to watch.
  4. Same came be said for another Chicago coach to whom I'm thankful for bringing a NFL championship in 1985. Much like Ozzie minus the kids, Ditka certainly wore out his welcome as much as Ozzie. It is a shame.
  5. For the record.....I'll alway's be thankful to Ozzie for making the 2005 Chicago White Sox World Champions in my lifetime before the Cub's won in 2016.
  6. I may be getting old but I have to turn up the TV whenever he's on. One reason is to hear his insight which is usually spot on and the main reason is because I can't understand half of what he's saying.
  7. One thing I read this morning that's enlightening is " While it's believed Katz and Hasler will be back, some from LaRussa's staff were told they can talk to other clubs and are in limbo for 2023 pending the new managers input"
  8. Found this interesting take from a Boston perspective on Moncada-Devers from 5 years ago, before I caught myself fantasizing about offering Moncada back to Boston for Derver's since he's entering his last year of arbitration eligibility. I'm sure Boston would find the offer amusing. https://bosoxinjection.com/2017/08/21/red-sox-rafael-devers-yoan-moncada-forever-linked/
  9. Agree, we need a complete change of culture, and all coaches should be let go. Start fresh with a new approach much like the Bull's, and bring in someone who has a pulse and can motivate this team with no ties to the Sox organization.
  10. It will be hard to find a non-racist Manager who hasn't said the words "MotherF---er.
  11. Since when is calling someone a motherf---er racism?
  12. Much like Eloy, Robert has proven to be injury prone in both the minor and major leagues. Moncada should improve, but in hindsight Machado should be our 3B if we were really serious about a rebuild. When the Sox were rumored for Machado and Harper I signed up for a 20 game package and watched the rebuild up close. TA, IMO is not an elite SS, he's a good hitter to the opposite field but needs to improve his defense. Overall the Sox are slow and have multiple players playing out of position. It should be interesting to see what JR does about Jose, my guess is he's back which will delay the development of others, mainly Vaughn and Sheets. Our pitching staff needs a stud like Wheeler, oops we lost him too and in hindsight we should have offered Rodon 20-25 mil a year for 2 years. Overall there's holes in the rotation after Cueto leaves and we're not sure what Sio will bring next year. We don't develop pitcher's, and we overused Crochet before he was ready. We go out and buy expensive relievers instead of left handed hitters that can also play outfield defense. Our whole front office and some of our coaches have job security for life. If someone see's anything positive about this organization, fill me in please.
  13. BREAKING NEWS.....Sox Talk, it really doesn't matter what our plan, Hahn's plan, KW's plan, or JR's plan is. The Guardian's are for real with 14 players that they developed currently in the playoffs. Cleveland has youth, speed, defense, and pitching and our current line-up with 5-6 DH's (depending on if they sign Jose) is not gonna cut it. Even if we make some earth shattering trades in the offseason, we are not overcoming Cleveland's superior player development. You can add the hated Astro's into that as well as they also have 14 players that they developed in the playoffs. We're doomed to finishing second, third, or worse in our division for the foreseeable future with little chance of reaching the playoffs even as a wild card.
  14. Let's agree to disagree (I like aggressive baseball). I just hope a new Manager is allowed to hire his own coaches so we can finally part ways with Daryl Boston and Super Joe. They've both been around way to long (Joe 10 years? - Boston 7 years?) and have survived 3 managers which is most unusual in MLB.
  15. Don't recall Joe sending the same player twice and getting the same player thrown out twice
  16. Sox finished over 2 million in attendance for the first time since 2011. I believe some Admin. on this site was saying earlier in the year how Sox attendance was down this year. I'll have to check, but out of the 20 games I attended this season I feel like they only won 4 or 5 and left me grumbling about their poor play every game so I won't be renewing.
  17. There's slow and then there's White Sox slow. You have to send them once to actually see how slow they are. Don't recall Joe sending the same player twice and getting the same player thrown out twice. Then again the Sox were told not to run hard so is Joe to blame? Every coach has a bad send now and then, I like aggressive baseball that forces the outfielder to make a throw. I have a feeling we'd all be complaining if Joe didn't send the runners.
  18. I'll say one thing in Joe's defense, it's a hell of a lot easier to look good sending runners who don't run in quicksand. Just about any other third base coach sends his runners on the same plays, the difference being the Sox runners are slow. Joe didn't send too many more after the first 5 or so were thrown out, but heck ya got to believe in your players scoring and force the team to make a throw. I think he learned his lesson because I don't remember too many bad sends after the All Star game. Not defending him sending Grandal tho, he should have known better.
  19. I believe they rely on Daryl Boston to coach the outfielders....enough said.
  20. Thanks, just got around to listening. One takeaway, Do Hahn and Tony go to the same hair salon for dye jobs? Sounds like the same rinse and repeat coming out of Hahn's mouth. Did he really say Eloy isn't a chronic injury worry? He may not be worried but I bet Robert, TA, and Moncada worry about Eloy ending their careers by crashing into them. The man is a DH, he's not Aaron Judge in the outfield, he's more like Gavin Sheets playing the OF. Hahn's day 0 comment was also telling of a GM not prepared for the foreseeable future.
  21. One good thing it stopped the inevitable. This team wasn't going anywhere had they won that game, but damn what a stupid decision and it should have sealed his fate.
  22. Look at them on the bases is all you need to know. They make easy catches look spectacular.
  23. Good point. I believe we draft/sign/trade for players that are injury prone. Trade for Eaton a couple of years ago is an example of signing injury prone players, and there are others. I know Robert and Eloy were both injury prone in the minors, and low and behold that has proved to be true in the Bigs.
  24. Maybe because TLR needs his afternoon nap is all I can think of.
  25. This team is straddled with the players currently on the roster and I don't expect any significant moves. Maybe they see the light and come to a conclusion that putting two 1B/DH in the corner outfield positions is not a good idea and they look for an actual outfielder. But, do you really trust Hahn or KW or whomever is making the decisions with making roster moves that can actually improve this team?
