QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) I heard there was a movie coming out called "Gunners Palace" or something like that which was supposedly a no-bs 1st hand account of the action over there as it happened and told by those living it. I totally want to see that one. Sure is, check out the trailer using quicktime http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/...palace-tlr.html

While I don't know if this is a good idea or not I had been under the impression that the government wasn't giving away free heroine but clean needles. I'll have to check it out.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) The only thing that got me was when the "doctor" shot the dog... I wanted to reach through the TV and punch that f***er in the nuts. Yah it wasn't exactly Cujo.

Yup you're right A Company of Soldiers had been on previously but I obviously missed it. I watched it tonight though and it was pretty interesting. What got me most was when at a newly set up checkpoint (2 soldiers and a humvee), a car began approaching down an off ramp towards the checkpoint. When the car got within around I'd say around 300 yards they fired a warning shot. But no more than a second after the warning shot the other soldier gave the order to begin firing. They claimed that in that second after the warning shot the car began to speed up! And the soldier just drilled into the car. You could see it start smoking and then high tailed in backwards up the ramp. I can now see how easy the situation with the Italian reported could have happened. Also a funny quote in the show Soldier #1: Who would bomb a church? Soldier #2: Muslims. I believe I've seen a soldier's heart as well but for some reason my internet doesn't want to open those links up so I can check if I have seen it. Those links work for anyone else?

There's a 1 and a half hour episode tonight about a BBC crew living with coalition forces in last November and December. I believe it's on at 8 central time but I couldn't check because the PBS website pbs.org seems to be down. Anyone else planning on watching?

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) I like Garland. Hes young, he does not make that much money, and at worst he is a .500 sub 5. era pitcher. He also has pitched over 190 innings the last 3 years. Durable young pitchers with good stuff are not something you just give up on. Or atleast thats not what I would do. SB And if bloody Buehrle didn't get injured we'd have one of the best #5 starters in the game.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Agreed. Garland is going to win more games for us than the addition of Willy Mo Pena. Now if we are out of contention at the deadline, then you guys can start the Garland for Pena rumors. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense right now. Even Garland is still only 25 or 26 years old. If we're having a bad season and at the deadline are "building for the future" I'd still like to see Garland in the rotation. His value seems to always be underestimated on here.

Hilarious, and I'm amazed at how people on a terrorist watch list were allowed to purchase guns. Never knew about that one.

You have to have a date if you're a guy? Is this an actual rule? And if you are gay then what? Seems pretty ridiculous to me.

I'm actually really close to Red Lake as well up in Winnipeg. Not going to have any inside information though.

I just watched Something the Lord Made. It was a great movie about the pioneers of heart surgery Alfred Blalock and Vivien Thomas, played by Alan Rickman and Mos Def. The interesting part of the movie is Mos Def's character being a black man without a doctorate, and the things he and Blalock are able to accomplish while battling racial prejudices. Great tearjerker and undeservingly unknown. Thank you HBO Films. P.S. This further proves that some rappers can act. 9/10

Gerhard Schroder also supports the Wolfowitz nomination. http://news.ft.com/cms/s/1f0b6fe0-9a38-11d...000e2511c8.html I've yet to see anything in Canadian media that's more detailed than what you provided southsider but I'm interested to see if further information will come.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) At least I wasn't the only pathetic person to watch Spring Break Shark Attack. Nothing else was on tv and I was exhausted from a busy day. God did it blow, but your right, there were some hot chicks on it. Well a lot of people must have watched it. It actually managed to tie a repeat airing of Desperate Housewives.

I watched The Punisher, 21 Grams and Spring Break Shark Attack this weekend. I didn't mind the Punisher. The acting was lazy and completely boring but the action scenes were very good and fairly entertaining. The fight against "The Russian"(played by wrestler Kevin Nash of all people) was awesome. The last scene on the bridge was very good and I wouldn't mind seeing the sequel which is apparently going to be made. 6/10 21 Grams as I expected was a fantastic non linear tale with fabulous acting from all involved. A 100% must-see. Alejandro González Iñárritu's second film is no less a masterpiece than Amores Perros, but I liked Amorre Perros more. 9/10 Spring Break Shark Attack was obviously bad but nonetheless satisfied me with decent shark effects, hot chicas, and alcohol consumption. 5/10
