QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Al Jazerra is nothing more than a mouthpiece for Islamic terrorists across the middle east. That's completely untrue and asinine as you put it earlier. Watch the movie and learn something damnit!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) To an extent? That's like saying Terrell Owens is conceited, to an extent. Just watch the movie, and if you still think that... cool.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) I'm sorry, but Al Jazeera cannot be taken seriously by anyone with half a lick of common sense. Why do you think that? They are obviously to an extent anti-American, but to an extent people in that region are as well. How is that much different from Fox News?

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 12:08 AM) This is how. ( cut from the article ) I dont know how you could have missed that. I'm obviously not a very good skimmer. :headshake

I don't even understand what he is saying? In what way are Victims of the World Trade Center similar to the Nazis?

Well well well I have watched another movie today and I have found the documentary that should have got the most media attention in 2004, and it's not Super Size Me or Farenheit 9/11 it's Control Room. Plot "A chronicle which provides a rare window into the international perception of the Iraq War, courtesy of Al Jazeera, the Arab world's most popular news outlet. Roundly criticized by Cabinet members and Pentagon officials for reporting with a pro-Iraqi bias, and strongly condemned for frequently airing civilian causalities as well as footage of American POWs, the station has revealed (and continues to show the world) everything about the Iraq War that the Bush administration did not want it to see." ---courtesy imdb.com As this plot suggests the film is to an extent anti-Bush but not in the way Michael Moore is. This film takes the opinions of a group of people (3 main characters) and shows them to the audience, and lets the viewer decide what to make of them. Unfortunately 2 of the 3 are employees of Al Jazeera and therefore the film is not perfectly balanced but nonethless the opinions are not forced upon the viewer. This is a must see for anyone interested in what's going on with the Iraq war and sheds some light on some of the very interesting events of the early goings on in Iraq. If anyone has seen this what do they think about the section dedicated to the toppling of the Saddam statue? 9/10 http://www.controlroommovie.com/site/01.html trailer is on official site

QUOTE(danman31 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) If you look at the slomo her color is off. She looks too defined while the basket is clearly blurred. Basically what I'm trying to say is that the lighting in the room she is in when they filmed this for the faking is much different from the lighting of the gym. She is too bright. I was thinking that the basketball net was edited in but the mesh of the net looks too real as she passes throught it.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) Notice her reflection fails to appear off the backboard. Clear indication of a hoax. Although, as many of you pointed out, it's still nicely done. Umm I see a reflection here. http://www.aoox77.dsl.pipex.com/1/b1.gif

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) Fake, her hands would have hung in the net. Looking at the GIF confirms it to me. But excellent work by whomever Umm I'm not sure what you mean about her hands but if you look closely at her hands as she passes through it appears as though it rips some of the mesh off.

Just watched Tell Me Something, a South Korean murder mystery about a killer who cuts up bodies mixes them up and then puts them in garbage bags and drops them off around the city for them to be discovered. Sound fun? It was really cool but I don't think it's very scary and certainly not as scary as say... Se7en. But then again I was much younger when I saw Se7en. Nonetheless Tell Me Something is an absolute must see for Asian horror fans. It also, whether intentional or not, leaves a lot up for interpretation and if you don't like movies that are somewhat confusing don't see it. http://www.nifty.com/kal/ That's an asian site but you can find the trailer there. 7/10

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) I agree....i think there were a few dragging parts....but it was an overall good movie. I watched in theatres....can't find myself to buy it though....don't really have "foreign" movies in my collection....but there may be room for it one day. Awesome avatar! I can't wait for Sin City and I wished they had shown Michael Madsen in the trailer.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) The newer one is the one I saw. Do you know if the Sinatra version is out on DVD? I'd definately check it out if it was. After a day of thinking about it, I like the movie even more. I highly recommend it to all. Sure is and I have it!

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) I just wish you people would stop totally focusing on the negatives of what's going on out there. It seems to me that you people are hoping for bad things to happen so you can gloat about how wrong we are to be there. If you're opposed to the war and our presence there that's fine and I respect your opinions but the fact is that we're there and we're not leaving until they can handle it on their own. Maybe I would respect you guys more if every now and again you would talk about something good that's happening over there instead of zeroing in on the violence. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,145825,00.html 72 percent of registerd voters turned out. That's north of 8 million people. All of this in the face of death threats and bombings. I'm really glad to see that these people appreciate and are taking advantage of the opportunity to vote for the 1st time in 50 some years over there. I only wish that U.S. voters appreciated their freedom to vote this much. A little rain or snow is enough to keep a good many Americans from the polls. I think it turns out that only 60% of voters turned out. both cbc and fox report that

QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) It looks to me like a producer/director/reporter that has a personal problem with Fox News. People rail on Fox News being biased, yet the person who put the CBC story together has personal feelings against FNC, that are also biased. The one who controls the media, controls the information. So, why not affect the information with your personal views? The door swings both ways. It's an eternal pissing contest. Conservatives vs. Liberals. Why would you want to hate someone because of a slanted story? You might not have all the facts. Have you seen the Canadian documentary? No of course you haven't and it's not your fault. But you'd maybe be able to understand my viewpoint if it was possible for you to see this. P.S. Bill O'Reilly swings the door a lot harder!
