This is a tough question but in today's society of, what have you done for me lately long wars look very bad.

Very powerful post Jim, but personally I'm not sure what I think of the situation in Iraq right now. I don't think I know enough about the conditions of the Iraqi people before, or how they are now to really understand the situation. And frankly I think this is the case for most of us mere civilians, but we are unwilling to admit it.
