QUOTE (Brian @ May 5, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2142656:date=May 5, 2010 -> 04:49 PM:name=qwerty)-->QUOTE (qwerty @ May 5, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) <!--quotec-->Machete is simply gonna be awesome. I still can't believe they are making this movie but it has a good cast. Too bad Jeff Fahey isn't in it like he was the Grindhouse trailer. edit: Holy crap! He is in it! Thought De Niro was playing his part. The new trailer was just a rehash of the fake trailer. Pretty weak. Seems to me that they may have rushed it to try and capitalize on all the Arizona-related hubub these days. Although that part when the narrator says that they learned that they "f***ed with the wrong Mexican" gets me every time.
  2. I'd rather keep the politics out of sports. And if some players are detained because of this law, it will just prove that it is completely silly anyways.

Brendan Fraser seems to have gone insane.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...039&st=5460 Oh boy, I'm not getting into that farce again. I guess for me it's Obama's steady hand at the wheel of two wars, and foreign affairs generally. The appointment of Sotamayor was well handled, and one more judge will be great a few months from now. Signing nuke deal with Medvedev. I also tend to think health care reform was a step in the right direction. But I'm not convinced it's going to help reduce the deficit, and the U.S. fiscal situation is not sustainable.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 3, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) LOL. great list. Especially a fan of "Returning science to its rightful place," (really?) "Forge [sic] a meaningful statement from the United Nations" criticizing North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile" (oh! never been done before), "Diminishing the role of lobbyists in the White House" (what? really? when?), and "Engaging world leaders in Europe, Turkey, Latin American and the Caribbean with "strength and humility." (hilarious). So far I've liked: credit card legislation timetable on Iraq lifting ban on stem cell research green energy (would prefer more but ANY movement in that direction is better than none) Things I haven't liked: ecomic stimulus auto bailout healthcare "reform" more troops to Afhganistan failure to provide any meaningful financial reform despite promising to do so. 1.5 years later and STILL waiting for something to be done overall tendency that govt is better/more efficient/smarter/etc than individuals (and that awful quote you can make too much money and you have responsibility to give it back) Huh?
  6. Ha! They just went around the city hittin' dingers!
  7. QUOTE (joeynach @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) Most likely go Alexi/Beckham or Beckham/Alexi. I know Alexi isn't hitting worth a lick right now, but getting him in more fastball situations is perfect for him. Ummm, no. Replacing a guy that's struggling, with another guy that is struggling would be silly. Especially with Alexei, because he's not a natural on-base guy. Alexei's got swingawayitis. And lets not pretend Teahen is the solution to take us to the playoffs. While he's been good so far this year, and might keep it up, he's not a natural leadoff hitter. Remember, Juan Pierre's career on-base percentage is still better than Teahan's. Last year Teahen had like 35 walks and 120 Ks. I'd prefer to see if Pierre can get out of this slump. He's the closest thing we've got to a real leadoff hitter. If we give up on him already, we might just be throwing in the towel. Of course I could be wrong. Pierre could continue to be awful and Teahen could continue to take bases like Nick Swisher, but it's unlikely.
  8. Obama's quote: "We’re not, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money. But, you know, part of the American way is, you know, you can just keep on making it if you’re providing a good product or providing good service. We don’t want people to stop, ah, fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy." Are you guys serious? Who out there doesn't think that at some point more riches won't help an individual. Besides he adds, "keep on making it [money] if you’re providing a good product or providing good service." In addition, if you listen to the to the quote he says it in his jokey/casual way. You can complain about his policies or that they unfairly burden the wealthy job creators all you want. But this quote doesn't mean s***. I don't trust someone who doesn't at some point realize that more money doesn't really help you, and make your life better. But as Obama states, if you're creating a good product/service (think jobs), all the power to you!
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Is this a save opportunity now that hes allowed all these runs? no
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 07:50 AM) The remarkable thing about the whole "Socialism!" thing is how the Obama Health Care plan basically took the Republican opposition outline to the Clinton plan (the individual mandate) and used that as the basis for everything. Meh, I'm not going to get worked up about this on here anymore. Obama as President is to the right of Obama as Presidential candidate, and as it was 53% of the electorate voted for the more liberal Obama anyways. In addition, Washington Post's poll from yesterday indicated that 53% of people think Obama's views on the issues are "just about right," while 39% think he's "too liberal," and 5% think he's "too conservative." EDIT: link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/polit...ST2010042800009
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) He is socialist, on our political spectrum. Facist, communist? No. You're at lease socialist. Who cares? It's the truth. Accept it, and move on. But, I understand. We need to lable the tea party as racist so we can disband of this notion that they might have real issues with the government. There's no such thing as socialism "on our political spectrum." There's a political spectrum and everyone fits on it as such. American conservatives don't define political ideologies.
  12. Here are the comments that apparently irked some. Watch the last 3 minutes of the first link, and the rest at the other link. It's his answer to the last question which is of interest. And I think this is the NY Times article in question. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/15/world/mi...ast.html?src=mv
  13. Obama vs. Netanyahu, maybe... Obama vs. Israel, utter nonsense. Does Obama want to negotiate a peace deal? Yes. Does Netanyahu? Probably not. This doesn't mean Obama's against Israel. And the right wing drivel you link to? Also, garbage. For one thing, which friggin' New York Times article is he talking about? If I'm correct, and the "press conference" the author is discussing is the one at the Nuclear Summit I think Obama's comments are totally mischaracterized. Obama was not saying Americans are dying in Iraq and Afganistan because of what Isreal is doing, but that the screwed up nature of middle east relations makes things extremely dicey for Americans there. DuH! David Petraeus and Condi Rice have said the same thing. Reading conservative Jewish commentators opinions on U.S.-Israeli relations is fine, I just hope you mix in other viewpoints as well.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) Kipwells needs to remove "Moon" from his avatar, because from this point foward I'll immediately dismiss all posts of his unless the change is made. Haha, I thought the movie was pretty cool. But I liked the poster a lot. It's getting old now, I'll have to come up with something new. EDIT: And, OMG I've seen a lot of twisted horror movies, but the Human Centipede looks truly disturbing.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) Yup, that's the guy. The same .300 hitter that couldn't get off the bench for the LA Dodgers. The current Juan Pierre is a far cry from what he was for the Marlins 5 years ago. Manny Ramirez, Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) What about when your starting lead off hitter is Juan Pierre? You mean the career .300 hitter?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) And why isn't Quentin or Jones hitting for Pierre here? Cause you don't pinch hit your starting lead off hitter in the 7th.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) Really...the solution is Dye and Podsednik... My thoughts exactly. Weren't Thome and Dye the leaders of the corpse ball parade last year? That being said I wish we had kept Pods around.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) Both Ozzie and KW like Ditka, living off 2005. If the ball doesn't go through Tony G's legs and El Duque actually gives up a couple of runs that year, the two baseball geniuses that people actually shed tears thanking, are nothing more than failures. I just want that "how many championships" has whoever won argument gone. That's in the past. It doesn't take much baseball IQ to figure out the line ups last year and this were lacking. Ozzie can pop off about fans all he wants. The proof is in the pudding. He's losing. OMG the whining on these boards is incredible when we're slumping. 2005 was a fluke now? One of the most dominant playoff performances ever.
  20. Bill O'Reilly is f***ing clownshoes. Can we just leave it at that?
  21. Yawn... From what I watched tonight, Romero was pretty sick.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) Should I read Game Change? It's a really easy read, but I'll go along with what everyone else said. How did they get inside knowledge of all of these private conversations?
  23. QUOTE (Real @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) Jenks looks like someone afraid of losing his job. No he just looks perturbed as usual.
