So when the Court strikes down reasonable, bi-partisan, and popular legislation just whom are the activist judges?

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) perhaps it's because they sell out everyone under 30 when they govern. Or perhaps young people are generally ignorant morons who get the government they deserve.

American politics are strange.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) Switching topics. Kinda. One of the recommendations of the 9/11 commission was for Congress to work to streamline the process of handing over between administrations, because the several months it took for the Bush administration to get its people named, confirmed, and briefed on national security issues was one of many contributing factors to why the 9/11 attacks were able to happen. The Dems have even larger Senate majorities than the Republicans did, so getting that right should be easy, right? Sigh. Maybe if they appointed Chan Gailey to some position, that'd get approved. Why can't they get these f***ing positions filled then?

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) This doesn't sound like fear at all.... In Scott Brown we have an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against woman and against politicians with whom he disagrees," MSNBC host Keith Olbermann said I'm bitter about this special election and am left wondering if a left of center President can get much of anything accomplished in the current environment, but these comments by Olbermann are complete nonsense. I haven't paid close attention to Scott Brown but upon glancing over his wikipedia page, the only one of those comments that seem true is the "ex-nude model." Olbermann is just angry and bitter and in this instance the argument that MSNBC is just as bad as Fox News is correct. If Brown is elected, hopefully he will turn out to be an independent and moderate conservative. Not sure he could last if he became a predictable and reliable conservative vote.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) Watched The Devil's Rejects last night. Not as good as 1000 Corpses IMO but solid nonetheless. Whoa, I thought the Devils Rejects was great. Top notch. 1000 Corpses is nowhere near for me, but it's still special in its own way.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) Not in the least. You know as well as I do what the Dems reaction would be, it'd be to shun everyone who tries to stand for anything and go back to following the Republican line on everything. It's really kind of remarkable. The Republicans lose an election, and they lurch even more to the right (Palin, Limbaugh). The Dems look at losing an election, and suddenly they lurch even more to the right (why oh why did we try healthcare? aieee) Does every Republican win or loss, or Democrat win or loss always have to be attributed to whether or not they've swung too far to the right or too far too the left. Ugh...

Saw Daybreakers last night. Not bad, not great. I thought it was kind of like From Dusk Til Dawn, except it's not funny. It gives 30 Days of a Night a run for its money.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Reid should at least have to step down from his leadership role. I recall Trent Lott having to do that for merely showing up at Strom Thurmond's party back in 2002? 2003? And if Reid is saying things like that in a leadership position, how many others below him are saying the same thing? And if they are saying that about Obama behind his back, what do they say about gays behind closed doors? The Republicans are the racist party. And the Democrats are the weak on terrorism party.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) One very most favorite of mine is "The Heart Attack", where George thinks he's having a heart attack. Turns out he needs his tonsils removed. Trying to save money he sees a hollistic healer. The "cure" turns George's skin purple. It's frickin' hilarious. "I'm a mutant!" Seriously I still quote this show daily, and no one knows what I'm talking about. I love the part of the Puerto Rican parade episode where they all try to use the bathroom under their aliases. Pennypacker. Vanderlay. Varnsen. Jerry: If we're all here who's watching the factory? Kramer: What factory? Jerry: The Saab factory... Kramer: Jerry that's in Sweden.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) It's tough to be a Republican, no doubt about it.You would never hear about a Dem saying something like that. The Republicans would never have lost an election in history if they were treated fairly.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) Were you watching wide screen or full screen format? Sometimes in wide screen, you get that "shift" effect. I can't remember what the Perfect Getaway had. But I remember that the Die Hard still had the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. I thought it was weird that a widescreen tv still needed the bars. And someone I was watching with thought that was what might be creating the trippy effect as well.

Haven't gotten the tv yet, but something has me worried by watching large LCD tvs at the homes of friends and family. It's hard to describe but the picture on movies is weird. I'm not sure it's a bad thing, maybe my eyes aren't used to it. But the flow seems weird. It's almost like everything was shot on a handheld camera. Or that it's trying to do everything in 3d or something. The strange effect was evident during a television broadcast of the most recent Die Hard movie and a Blu-Ray copy of The Perfect Getaway starring Milla Jovovich. Both were on large LCD televisions around 46 inches. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Are the settings wrong on the tv? Or are my eyes just not used to it? Other people watching the movies noticed the same thing.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) Did you guys see it in 3D? Yah, I wear glasses so I had to wear the 3d glasses on top of those but it still looked great. And it wasn't too uncomforatlbe. I did notice that the colors looked brighter when I took off the 3d glasses periodically, so that might be one drawback.

I was pretty impressed by Avatar in 3D. It plays better in the theatre than in trailers on tv and the computer. Visuals were great. Story was a little bit hamfisted, but still a great movie experience. 9/10

Only thing I'm worried about with LCD is that I'm hearing the picture gets fugged if you watch on an angle. Does the angle have to be extreme? Who watches tv straight on anyway?

Thanks for the tips guys. Right now I'm looking at 46 inch LCD Sony Bravia KDL46S5100 1080p. Do you really need 1080p for Blu Ray to work? P.S. f u tex. lol
