QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) 48%. Not too bad for a non - American I'd say. Try 88% for this Canadian Political nerd. I kind of guessed on Vilsack being the first declared. -
Obama will win Viriginia.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) About what I expected, a family member of Obamas is here illegally, violates election rules and is living in government assisted housing and whoever leaked the info was at fault. Yah, member of Obama's family... They're about as close as Dick Cheney and Barack Obama. In the meantime here's what other Republicans have been doing. Quality human beings these types. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/worl...icle5063279.ece The Republican party desperately needs some time in the wilderness.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) As someone who's rooting for Obama, how concerned should I be that McCain is leading in the Zogby one day poll? Just get out and work harder. Don't sit around diddling your thumbs worrying. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) I thought about a new thread on this, but decided not to. Mods, fell free to break this into a new thread if you feel necessary. NYT To Publish Explosive Story On McCain Camp Angst (bits and pieces below) Yah, probably not worth a new thread. Sounds pretty ordinary for a campaign that's a ways behind.

What's the deal with the big fuss being made over Biden's "Obama's going to be tested" remarks? Strategically it may be a silly thing for Biden to say. But just because it was recorded behind closed doors doesn't make it particularly interesting. Of course Obama will be tested. Maybe it's just Matt Drudge being a goof. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 19, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) http://thepage.time.com/2008/10/19/limbaugh-wallops-powell/ I kind of understand his point but Obama is far from your average liberal democrat. I think competence probably has a lot to do with it for Powell.

http://news.sympatico.msn.ca/abc/Election_...itemid=67783034 As the "Canadian Guy" on the board I thought I'd remind everyone of our little election up north. Most people assumed the Conservatives and Stephen Harper would win this election and possibly win a majority thus having total control of the Parliament. The Opposition Liberal Party has a leader, Stéphane Dion, perceived as weak, but now because of the economic crisis the Conservatives are tumbling in the polls and the Liberals actually have a chance of winning, a very surprising turn of events. Early in the campaign there was even talk that Liberal Party might actually be replaced as the Official Opposition Party by the New Democrats, a more socialist leaning party, but not anymore. I still think the Conservatives will win a minority government, but it's a strange time. Here's some of the ads the parties are running for a little flavour of Canadian politics. I won't force any of the french Quebec ads on you guys though.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) It comes down to perception. A lot Obama supporters see the Obama attack ads as 'truth' but criticism of Obama = smear. When in reality Obama has run a campaign that is equally as dirty. The truth is Obama did start a political campaign at an admitted terrorists residence. You may not like this fact and I honestly don't care. Now, I could understand a counter with a reasonable explanation such as "Well, Obama barely knows the guy, and if you are a politician in Chicago you are going to have to deal with some complete crack pots to get your foot in the door". I mean, Ok, so... -McCain is too dumb to use a computer (but he actually can't due to physical injuries) -McCain "looked the other way" rather than investigate Jack Abramoff and a Republican "Culture of Corruption." In fact, McCain's investigation led to a prison term for Abramoff - McCain wants to send little babies to Iraq (oh but that wasn't Obama, right? just his surrogates. but it sure is ok to link McCain to attacks he had nothing to do with) - Keating 5, ignore the fact McCain was cleared of charges - The media's insistence that anyone not supporting Obama is racist (but, but, Obama had nothign to do with that! well you sure like to link McCain to Rush Limbaugh) There is more, don't care to go over all the Obama campaign ads. This altruistic view of the Obama campaign is not in touch with reality, but neither is McCain, right? He's old and senile, ok, thanks for the info. The Obama campaign has not been running on issues any more or less than McCain. This whole election is messed up. Have fun with it. My apathy level is so high I don't care if we elect Barney the Dinosaur, Sarah Palin, or the Tooth Fairy. Maybe have Palin debate Barney to see if they can reach a conclusion if he actually ever existed. *end rant* You are right to a large extent. I think the Obama campaign has greatly benefited from staying positive for so many of those early months in the Democratic Primaries. And the Obama campaign seems to have made sure that they were always a little less negative than Hillary's campaign then and John McCain's now. Or that's my perception at least. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/20...n-pulls-ah.html No doubt the Palin pick was a game changer. The media simply can't stop talking about her, and Obama and Biden are being completely drowned out. That being said there's a long bloody way to go. -
Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?

I think that news outlets be they left wing or right wing, and lets be clear there is no in between, makes every single editorial decision based on whether or not they are left wing or right wing. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) Not sure if this was posted yet: You really think the town she was mayor of was a special, entrenched interest? Sounds like she was doing her job well. That being said I couldn't in a million years see this person leading the free world and facing down the likes of Vladimir Putin. There had to be 50 people in the Republican Party more ready to be Vice President. -

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 07:33 PM) meh, the media is in panic mode because Obama hasn't opened a big gap in this race. I would expect them to go into total attack mode soon, so sending in 10 lawyers to help the VP selection out is probably a good move. edit: but this VP pick seems like it is going to open up family members to a complete free for all media attack. really a shame. i think McCain gave the MSM too much credit assuming they wouldn't go totally in the sewers. THAT was a big miscalculation. so i will concede that point to you. I don't give two s***s about Sarah Palin and hate hearing about all this family stuff with her just like I hate all the Obama-Muslim crap. But jeebus, is it just me, or do you try to win every argument with, "the media has a liberal bias." -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) You want to know the scary thing? This is the defense of the McCain camp. Well then I really hope he met her more than once before this occasion.
