8/3 Wsox vs Royals: Richard vs Grienke 1:10
KipWellsFan replied to GoodAsGould's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) he's shown to be a 2-time through the lineup pitcher, 3rd time he gets lit up, just like what happened to danks last year hopefully ozzie pulls him before that happens, let the kid leave with some confidence I figure Richard deserves more than 2 starts to be defined. -
8/2 Sox-Royals on FOX Saturday Game - 2:50 CT

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 04:26 PM) Your estimate might turn out to be too low. What happened to this staff? It's not so simple as Contreras and Linebrink being out. We were leading the AL in staff ERA about 3-4 weeks ago, and our defense was at least adequate. Oh, by the way, former Sox pitcher MATT GINTER is starting against Liriano tonight in Minnesota. That sure inspires confidence. That's Sunday's game. It's Byrd vs. Slowey tonight. -

Why the hell did we just intentionally walk someone down 5 runs? -
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) No, because this was a story about 1 man f***ing up, almost literally. Not the Democratic party, not politicians, but just John 'Two Americas" Edwards. No need to mention McCain, Newt or Obama. Now if it was a news story about how all politicians are twofaced, then go ahead. Dude it was one article on a left of center blog. Relax.

This hit a little too close to home.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) Another terrible turning point is Danks having a 1-2 count on a gift strike that was awarded after a HBP, so what does he do but WALK HIM. To leadoff the inning! That's just inexcusable. As I said in the game day thread, put the White Sox in that point and you know we're not reaching base. Well in Danks' defense there's not usually a 10 minute break between pitches. Bullpen just didn't bail him out.

Griffey Jr. going to be in the lineup tonight? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) It sounds like this is actually the guy the rumor is about. I don't know if someone screwed up a name early, but Hanrahan's name came up again. It makes much more sense from the perspective of what we have to offer to other teams. And I have no idea why the Nats would give up young starting pitching.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) They are certainly biased in their political contributions. http://www.ibdeditorial.com/IBDArticles.as...301702713742569 So Fox News employees only donate to the Democrats?

Is it just me or is this whole pulling out of the VP race thing really just, "McCain said he won't be picking me, so I'll look like I'm the one making the decision."
-
I've become pretty convinced that more than any ideology, narrative and ratings is what drives media outlets.
-
Now if I was a mindless Republican goon and the situation were reversed with Fox News I might say... "Haha whiny Democrats, I love watching the loonie left, socialist moonbats, frothing at the mouth over this" Besides maybe the New York Times is just making up for publishing Judith Miller and Michael Gordon's pro-War propaganda which came straight from the Bush administration?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 06:19 AM) Obama will have plenty of time during the Olympics. I don't think his getting attention will be a problem. Yah, I don't buy that Olympics things either. p.s. Mark Halperin was on Charlie Rose the other night and thought the frontrunners for Obama are Tim Kaine, Kathleen Sebelius, and Evan Bayh. Romney for McCain.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) Thats something you dont see everyday. A guy scoring on a sac fly from 2nd base. Someone did that earlier this year and it was like the first time since 2003 in the entire ML. -

So does this Jack Reed guy have a legitimate shot?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) What the heck? Gameday called it a HR and then reversed it. Damnit I've been thinking it was tied for the last 15 minutes.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) no he didn't at all. but Obama decided he'd rather "save face" than to have his surrogate's back. spineless. "The Senator says his comments Monday about his opponent were not a reference to Wesley Clark’s comment about McCain. “I think my staff will confirm that was in a draft of that speech that I had written two months ago.” Also says Clark doesn’t owe McCain an apology. " http://thepage.time.com/2008/07/01/mccain-...lark-statement/ I didn't find Clark's comments particularly harsh but I hate to hear the criticism of his military service, and I don't see him being the VP pick. If I had to guess I'd say he'll pick Richardson and think if he's the one who Obama believes would be the best President of the bunch then he should pick him. Otherwise I hope that is the largest factor in his decision.

The article's not really about predicting that the U.S. is going to go to war with Iran. In fact this article seems to argue that it's unclear what the U.S. will be doing. It even says that Robert Gates told Democrats that bombing Iran is the wrong move. The article is more focused on the covert ops in Iran. And it seems pretty convincing that they ARE occuring. Why else would Jack Sheehan say the secrecy of their details was a main reason why William Fallon resigned as Centcom commander?
