Lol the Democrat won the special election in Mississippi despite the silly advertising tying him to Obama. http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll...ONTPAGECAROUSEL

QUOTE (Mplssoxfan @ May 11, 2008 -> 06:42 AM) FWIW, that Post post was made March 1, 2007. Here's a more recent posting reinforcing the finding. While it's obvious that the McCain camp will try to take advantage of this, most people could probably come to the conclusion that Obama's pretty centrist in real terms. I mean as far as I know he's not in favour of legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana, legalizing prostitution, withdrawing from Afghanistan as well as Iraq, and his health care program doesn't seem as left as Hillary's. And what's the deal with Americans using the word liberal as a negative. It's the only country I know of that uses the word this way, and in the rest of the Western world people often use it to describe what you guys would consider conservativism. What definition are you guys using? Anything that's not conservative is liberal?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 10, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) The only record we know of with Obama is he's the most liberal member of congress, and that won't appeal to independents as much as a lifetime moderate like McCain. The congress is pretty big, you might want to rethink that one.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 10, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) Some anti-Hillary stuff for you Obamaites to enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6Lstkiexhc Totally inappropriate but genius and hilarious at the same time.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 9, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) Obama wants to change the subject from his character and judgement to issues that matter. He should be careful what he asks for. The RNC takes him up on his offer. F'n bring it on!

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 8, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) If i said you lost your bearings, do you think I am calling you old? Well I'm not old so I wouldn't, but the thought did cross my mind about McCain's age when I saw the headline earlier. Of course that doesn't mean the McCain camp is any less stupid for implying that what Hamas thinks should matter.

Obama's spending some time in Washington to rassle up superdelegates. But then he should go to Kentucky and West Virginia, and try to win this thing once and for all. It's not like he doesn't have the kind of money to do it.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 6, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) Clinton sounds defeated... Hillary's Subdued Fundraising Email Is an OFFICIAL end near? That doesn't sound like anything. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 6, 2008 -> 11:02 PM) The hammond mayor comes off looking like a real ass to me. Why does it seem like mayors with a conflict of interest have a controlling influence on the tabulation of the vote itself? Is this actually the system? -

At a glance it looks like Clinton will hang on, but I also said the state would be called 5 hours ago... -
QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) Why is it always different? I just don't understand. When it's "your guy" or "your party" it seems like it gets excused. You guys are such Debbie Downers. Of course Obama won't be that much different from the past but using some random link from a random supporter to make your point? Relax.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) Hillary won Hammond and a few other towns in Lake County, according to the mayor. Yah seriously, I don't care if he's giving us results, but calling a candidate from your own party weak? I hope he gets some calls tomorrow putting his ass in place. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) Brian, I don't know a ton about the process, but this had to be a giant night for Obama. Hillary is going to have a difficult time to realistically spin this any positive way. She's going to have trouble fund raising again after tonight Hell, I'm not watching on tv, but I imagine Clinton doesn't have any clue when to do her speech, and what to say in it. Obama has won the expectations game. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) Most of the time when i say it, I get shouted down. but this could be a REAL republican effort to keep her alive. Like I said earlier, if you facotr out the republicans, the exit polls show Clinton +2.8 rather than almost 5. Yah, but what can anybody do about it? It just sounds like whining. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) The only 2 worth noting are Wayne County and LaPorte County. Wayne County hasn't come in at all yet, and voted 10000 for Kerry in 04. LaPorte I already mentionned. So a big Hillary win in Wayne County means that between those 2 the margin is 6500 coming in favor of her, which I think probably cancels out everything other than Lake County that still has to be counted that would be PrObama. He'd need to win Lake by about 35000 votes then I think, give or take 5000, which means he'd have to win Lake by the same percent margin he won Indy, give or take again. Wayne county is all in I think. You may mean Union County. EDIT: no one lives in Union. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) More importantly...it's down to 32,000 votes with probably enough to bring it down to 25,000 remaining without Lake (Monroe is still hanging out at 23%, Marion still counting, Tippecanoe half counted). A solid showing in Lake drops it down even more. There's still some Clinton areas to come in too. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:43 PM) FYI: If my numbers are right, Obama just passed Clinton in popular vote (primaries AND caucuses) INCLUDING FL and MI. +61,063 Yah, Obama might not win Indiana tonight, and I don't think he will, but there is nothing in these numbers that will change superdelegates minds. Big win for Obama tonight. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) He can pull this off. If not, it might get down to 1 or 2 points. We're assuming Lake County is going to go for Obama in the first place? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2008 -> 05:57 PM) Probably true...but I'd still live with "Closer than expected in IN" being the result, because it's a delegate fight. Yah, I think this is probably a decent night for Obama. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 6, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) I'm looking at CNN's map here, and there is nothing from northwest IN yet which right now is assumed to be pro-Obama, and Indianapolis is also 60-40 Obama right now and it's only 20% counted. They'll call it for Clinton soon enough. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) God it'd be nice to outperform expectations tonight. Somehow I doubt it given the expectation for N.C. will be what Drudge has run all day, but it really would. Last time drudge had a Clinton insider like this is PA it was actually pretty accurate but I still never trust insider comments like this. You never know if they're playing the expectations game, or how they're trying to play it. -
QUOTE (bmags @ May 6, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) Well, he has a legacy in NAFTA and has major props from historians for his huge coalition in Iraq. He got crucified because he made a bargain with Congress (that was a good bargain, btw), but raised taxes when he said he wouldn't. He was a responsible president, I don't look down upon him. But then again, GREAT, I don't think he dealt with enough to be considered Great, especially for one term, he'd need a Polk like term to be considered great. The first part didn't deal with NAFTA, raising taxes, or Iraq but gave him great credit for how he handled the unification of Germany and got them into NATO without rubbing everyone's nose in it or gloating.
