  1. Nothing to do with Carrier but I watched the first part of the 4 hour special on George H.W. Bush last night. Speaking of liberal bias the documentary not only paints H.W. as a good President but a great one. I believe the second part is on tonight. Very thorough look at Dubya's daddy. PBS rocks my socks.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ May 6, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) If Obama wins both states, is Hillary pretty much done? Yes.
  3. I'm sick of Swisher and his silly facial hair. I mean if you're going to have the most obnoxious facial hair in the league you better hit more than .200.

Saw Iron Man yesterday. Action and superhero people will love it, but I didn't think it was particularly inspired.
  5. I've never understood why Owens doesn't get a little more credit around here. Hitting 270 with 32 stolen bases in limited appearance in the American league last year isn't bad, and he's doing well at Triple A so far this year.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) I tend to agree but why doesn't the MSM lock onto that fact? Because it's not over at all. No one is obliged to vote any which way at the convention, if it gets to that. As for Rev Wright, screw him, the guy has single handedly worsened the reputation of religion, blacks, and Barack Obama with his nonsense.

What is the deal with Southland Tales? What a mess.
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) I dont agree with him doing this, but two can play at this game Ms. Clinton... Will Obama Campaign Start Hitting Hillary Over Whitewater And Cattle Futures? Let's forget about Obama dubious connections that were not illegal (but stupid) and look at how the Clinton's committed several crimes. I have no idea what cattle futures is all about but I doubt Obama will be bringing up Lewinsky or Whitewater anytime soon.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Is Obama going to spin this with how much he closed the gap in the last month or so? Didn't the polls show her about 20 points up at one point? That would be bulls***. The frontrunner should not finish 10 points behind.
  10. If Obama holds at 8 points back it's kind of a status quo night I guess. Not close enough for Obama to run around claiming he exceeded expectations but he's still got a huge delegate lead, and while Clinton is way behind in delegates this was a good victory for her, but not a surprisingly good one.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) What's the point of saying it's too close to call at 8:15 but then calling it when 1% of the votes are in? I guess the computers don't think it was THAT close.
  12. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) CNN reported that 60% of new Dem voters went for Obama. That cheater. MSNBC isn't really a news channel IMO. 10% of voters in the Dem primary were actually Republicans there to mess stuff up? yeaaaaa riiiiiight Kind of agree with genius here, doubt that screwball Republicans are really having much of an effect.

The Spirit - New s*** from Frank Miller and Will Eisner. Definite Potential.
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) How is this not news across the country? Clinton on Iran Attack: 'Obliterate Them' Well maybe the wording is poor but Iran must know that it's own survival is at risk if it threatens that of another.
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) Ok, I'll add a little substance to my observation. Late in the week, he really came across as someone who was crying about his "tough treatment" and his comebacks of Hillary liked getting in the digs (paraphrase but it was exactly the point). Any time a politician plays "victim", they're screwed, and Obama definitely came across as crying and whining about the debate. Now, the polls show it. I haven't been much more than a casual observer in the past week or so but I haven't noticed this line of thought in the media at all.
  16. The polls are officially showing... nothing.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) So, if this isn't a sign that the official party is pretty unhappy about last night...I don't know what is. I would take that as a pretty clear "This can't go on any longer after last night" message, wouldn't you? Meh, I don't see how that debate really hurts the Democrats chances. Dean just wants this thing over and the more superdelegates declare the more obvious this thing becomes.
  18. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) They all pander, they all sway for what lobbyist they need. SS, you saw where I came from. I don't think it was quite the same as you, but it was pretty similar. There ARE people "bitter" with the political process. Hell, I'm one of them. I'm bitter as hell. But, I also think that Obama said it the way he meant it originally, and that is that these people (as Hillary said) "cling" to beliefs that end up creating more of the same for the politicians we keep sending to Washington. Obama did NOT say that originally, but his spin of the subject is now how he's coming across. Again, when you combine it with the company he has kept over the last 20+ years of his life and watch his "rise to power" I don't think Obama gives a damn about my plight more then any other person around here. He's saying what he needs to say to be elected, and that is more my point then anything. I refuse to believe that any of the 3 remaining candidates, Hillary included, put themselves through so much grief simply to serve their own aims and ambitions.
  19. China's number one priority is national unity, ie keeping Taiwan, Tibet, East Turkestan and whoever else may want to separate under Chinese control. It's been that way for quite a long time now, and it's not like it's just came up since they were selected to hold the Games. I believe Chinese reunification is a prominent ethos in the Chinese political culture, and people might want to check out the 2002 movie Hero to see that. I'm not sure what protest is going to do exactly, and I certainly don't support nimrods running and grabbing the flame from innocent young athletes. Protesting the opening ceremonies for some politicians may be a decent option, but frankly, unless you're going to go all the way and really boycott now, and forever, a policy of engagement seems superior. Hmmm, like Russia? Who has an Olympics in 2014? Whose behavior is appropriate enough?
  20. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) What more can you say about these White Sox, except at least theyre not from Canada. What the deuce?
  21. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 01:23 AM) Well, I knew it had to happen eventually. Because I question the character of black man that is a 20 year member of a church whose pastor is on record with hateful and racial opinion, and because that raises a red flag with me when the said black man is running for highest office in the land, then marks me as a racist. Well you people just go ahead and vote your ignorance. I get criticized for linking to and quoting one, mind you "1" column that offers an opinion that you disagree with and you dismiss it as irrelevent and meaningless, yet Athomeboy, whatever his handle is, has for months been posting leftist rhetoric links and not a peep. You know what, I'm just gonna say this ... to hell with you all. You don't want discourse and discussion. You want .... screw it .... it's not worth it. Enjoy the campaign people. I'll stay out of the 'Buster till it's over. Forgive me for not having read all 32 pages of discourse and discussion but I don't see anyone calling you a racist? To me this just appears to be a long winded way of saying you can't win this argument.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) How about Wright and Obama just go away? We don't need their type. Especially in the White House. He should have been taken to task on this issue instead of getting the free pass he has received from the media and his supporters. You are all being conned. Vast left wing conspiracy to make Obama seem like a decent guy!
  23. I'm not really a fan of Stone, but Brolin's great so I'm going to have to see this. I don't think the film is supposed to be about his presidency, so much as it is about his rise to the presidency. Dubya can be a pretty endearing character so it might be pretty interesting.
