TA to bench. Remilliard in and batting 2 nd. No brainer.
KipWellsFan replied to hankchifan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm as puzzled as anyone. But benching a former batting champion for a guy with a career 700 OPS in the minor leagues is not a no brainer. -
This wasn't as impressive as I thought. The media was making him sound like Willie Mays.

I have heard (or read?) that those sprint speed things on Statcast don't always tell the whole story. For example, when Tim is running full speed there is no way he has below average speed. In terms of Moncada, he usually starts hitting right about the time these posts pop up on Soxtalk. So here's hoping! At the very least it would be nice if he at least added some patience to the lineup.

Did Yas hurt himself? I notice that Seby replaced him late, but I don't think I heard why. -

Can Soxtalk be better than this? -
I'm still mad at Luis Robert for not cutting that ball off...
-
Omg, Frazier has 13 plate appearances and has been given up on by 3 or 4 major league teams and Soxtalk is already ready for him to supplant Vaughn.

Sorry... why? -
Who would you actually pay to watch hit?
KipWellsFan replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
These posts may not be equally relevant to fans who are not residents of the Chicagoland area. I have only been to one game in Chicago, a few others in Minneapolis and Kansas City. I would pay to see ANY White Sox game. It is a rare treat! -

Sir this is a Wendy's

Fair enough. Your anger is certainly justified.

I have no issue with him going down to keep getting regular at-bats.

Promotion of Billy could significantly reduce the likelihood of gong show fielding plays in the late innings perhaps...
-
Colas, may I remind you, has also blown it numerous times in the field recently. Almost twice in one game in fact against the Rays.
-
Was it just me or were the Rays holding the runner at first with the game tied and men on First and Third and 2 outs yesterday in the 9th? Obviously that runner doesn't matter... I just want to point out that other teams do dumb stuff too.
-
Two observations... Andrew Benintendi's statcast numbers are horrible. Yet he's still got a 700 OPS. The optimist in me says his batted ball stats will start returning to his career averages and his numbers will improve alongside. The pessimist in me says his stats could fall off a table if he doesn't start hitting the ball with a bit more oomph. Luis Robert has got to be the biggest disappointment this season. At the start of the season he looked like he had finally put it together. He was a top hitter in the league, and was making it look easy. And the glove was elite. Now it seems like he couldn't hit the ball without a paddle. Grifol is stuck in a tough spot. To succeed we need our best hitter getting the most at-bats. Hence hitting first or second. But he's a total drain right now. Hopefully his near homerun yesterday is a sign of things to come.

Sometimes it's a good thing that Blue Jays games are blacked out in Canada.

As long as I've been on Soxtalk, people have been under this strange delusion that if only the players "gave more effort" or "had passion" (or some similar term) they would be better. Example A: Sox hitter grounds out weakly to the second basemen... Soxtalk Member 1: What a terrible effort. Soxtalk Member 2: What a lazy swing... Sometimes you are just in a slump. And sometimes you just aren't very good... I have a hard time believing that if only we had more passion we would be contenders. Fundamentally the problem is we give up too many walks, and don't take enough ourselves. I don't think passion and effort changes that in a major way.

Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
KipWellsFan replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What is the actual injury he is dealing with? -
Pedro is not the problem.
-
If you were wondering we are 29th in walks allowed, and 25th in walks taken. That is cumulative, not as a percentage of PAs.
