That's bulls*** you can slam the UN all you want but I'm sure they've played a played a large part in the rebuilding process and as a spokesman for the UN Kofi is outlining what they have done. He's not lying about anything here. So basically what you're saying is he has lied about basically everything the UN is doing, f***ing bulls***. And he doesn't say anything about including the terrorists, gosh. I'd like to see the f'n mess Iraq is left in if UN just pulls out of that hole and leaves everything up to the Iraqi government.

Well this would be his first movie since Snatch had he not made Swept Away. Starring Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, André Benjamin and Vincent Pastore. I think Ritchie has said this will be less of a comedy and it looks to me like it will be quite the gritty flick. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365686/plotsummary quicktime trailer http://www.greenroom-press.com/clients/Red...ies/trlr_hi.mov

while I'm debating http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_for_food Why are conservatives mad when their own government, a conservative government, seemed to have done nothing about it.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,161084,00.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...5062001176.html Oh but it's not a direct criticism... shut up! There are so many of these crazy statements being thrown around these days. If you oppose anything about the War you're just helping the terrorists. Puhleeeeeez! How about how no countries intervened, where was the American and British and Canadian militaries then. That's an asanine statement but it's not surprise seeing as the author is a member of the very mainstream Heritage foundation If you read the article it's obvious Kofi is just outlining where the United Nations is contributing. He is supposed to be positive about the organization he runs afterall. Annan may be a completely hateful, corrupt sob but his article doesn't say much... other than he's quite articulate. I do agree he should give credit to the coalition forces, but that's just not really what this article is about. That or he's just so spiteful to them for going over his head. Oh and maybe I missed it but I don't believe he takes credit for the liberation of Iraq.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) Also, her name and status was revealed by Time in 2003, way before this happened. http://online.wsj.com/public/corrections?page=Corrections Not sure what you mean http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_Plame That was published the day before Novak's I believe.

I'm sorry but that doesn't even seem to make sense This article is basically implying that Joe Wilson went completely crazy, and basically absolutely everything he has said has been lies. Sure... lets compare Wilson and Rove's credibility Wilson http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_C._Wilson Rove http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Rove#Ear...cal_experiences Come on, whether you're left or right this guy is scum. Whether he leaked Plame and had any agenda behind it is yet to be seen. EDIT: and those are not all of the scandals he's been involved with

Apparently this isn't the first time Rove's name has come up in discussions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_Plame

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) The fact that you say it that way implies that all muslims are terrorists. They are not. The "Death to America" world is that 1% of Muslims who actually feel that way. Al Jazeera, despite their poor attempt to appear objective, is clearly the mouthpiece for those 1% and as such they are the enemy. They are little different from the Tokyo Rose or Axis Annie of another time. I'm just going to disagree with you on the Al-Jazeera issue. But probably neither of us know enough about Al-Jazeera to make a good judgement.

Rove's lawyer says it wasn't Rove who leaked the CIA's name http://www.drudgereport.com/flash1.htm So it's Luskin's word against O'Donnell's at this point

Where is the saluting Tex smiley?

QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) Lawernce O'Donnell works for MSNBC as a Senior Political Analyst. And dont MSNBC and Newsweek work together on some stories, or something like that? They are tied somehow. Maybe somebody else can explain it http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3080444 but this Rove deal is a real interesting story. from wikipedia.org http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSNBC

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Al-Jazeera isn't an American based "news" organization. They shouldn't be allowed the same freedoms as an American news organization gets under the Constitution. Until they want freedom throughout the world, they get none from America. This seems like the same idea as Gitmo, they're not on US soil so we don't have to treat them as equals. Every person on the face of the earth deserves the same freedoms, whether they like America or not. And to call Al-Jazeera a terrorist network is a cop out and in my opinion wrong and Al-Jazeera certainly isn't against freedom in one bit. check out the trailer for Control Room... PLZ!!!!!!!!! http://www.controlroommovie.com/site/01.html great quote from A.O. Scott on the movie (whether you like Scott or not)

QUOTE(Yoda @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) I thought this thread is already being used for talking movies? Or am I missing the point of this thread? Tex might just be a little curious, considering the miserable slump the movie business is in.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) Al Jazeera does nothing but promote anti-American viewpoints. Why should America co-operate with them? Honestly, have you ever sat down and watched AL-Jazeera for a day? Neither have I.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Wow, you just saw Clerks? Have you seen any of the rest of the Kevin Smith movies? Sadly just the Jay and Silent Bob movie. Needless to say the rest of his movies are on my must seee list.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) I didn't think I had to repeat it. I was being lazy more than anything. cool

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Ok ... Go back to World War II and we broadcast to Germany where are weeknesses are? I guess we would be called racist because we don't like blong haired, blue eyed people. I'll say that showing that is aiding the enemy, so therefore, in your mind I'm stupid. Personally, I think anybody who can't see where giving information to the f***ing enemy is not a smart thing to do .. well, that fits the definition of fool. If you don't think they already know about that, how the hell did manage to hijack a bunch of planes with extreme skill. Insane doesn't mean stupid, and being patriotic doesn't neccesarily mean you're not stupid. Why would America even bother giving them freedom then. :headshake
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Regardless of how you choose to classify Al-Jazeera, the fact remains that they broadcast to the Arab world. Within that Arab world does exist a faction that are, in fact, sworn enemies of the USA. So .... The so called idiots known as the Minutemen were not so f***ing stupid because AJ's target audience is partially comprised of enemies of the USA. Those are the people the minutemen didn't want to broadcast the information to about the gaping security hole known as our southern border. Some "idiots" actually think things through. Others just spout rhetoric. I just can't believe that. It seems more like blatant racism to me, like 99.9% of the middle eastern world really isn't the enemy of America. Stupidity and uninformed racism. If they are stupid enough to say that showing this would be aiding the enemy, these guys are off their rocker.

I just saw Clerks for the first time tonight. It's really incredible how good the writing was when considering how low budget this is. Kevin Smith really is a genius writer.
