I don’t see it. They have 2 position players and 1 pitchers. They have to build an entirely new team. They aren’t just going to shell out $200M per year and get they. They put themselves in a hole with their moves the last few years. Expanded playoffs is a different story, they might make it but I don’t think they will be a good team that quickly.

My dads a doc so it’s similar - just doesn’t phase him. I usually send him the injuries and ask for his diagnosis. Beats having to wait for the official release.

The payroll flexibility they will have over the next two years will he astounding. But they have a mediocre farm system and no big time prospects I know of that will he ready to make contributions immediately. They can try and build a roster with FA veterans, but without a steady stream of young talent coming in it’s a story we’ve seen before. I’m not nearly as bullish on the Cubs as most who think they’ll be back in contention in 2023. Time will tell of course. I think they’re in for a longer rebuild them Jed wants to admit.
