  1. The 05 Sox were 5th in baseball in homers. They had 7 guys with 15+ homers. Obviously not a juggernaut offense by any means, but they got decent production up and down the lineup. Definitely not what I would call a “Konerko, Rowand, and Iguchi” offense.
  2. Maybe for a normal organization, but these schmoes have shown they don’t really care about those optics when it comes to hires.
  3. He’s gonna end up getting two centers (basketball), two more centers (football), another center (hockey), and one more center (soccer? Are there centers in soccer?) I don’t know what this post is.
  4. Haven’t we learned that banking on prospect bats to pan out is a bad strategy? Yes, they can definitely use more pitching, but they need SO many more bats to go with Colson and Ramos.
  5. Completely agree that it would be perfect in a world where he wasn’t just mailing it in at this point. But unfortunately he is, so the upfront work required to change is, well, work. And that’s too big of an ask for a dude that just wants to coast.
  6. Because that would require him to meet and talk to new people.
  7. Someone smarter than me tell me if the Glasnow move now likely takes the Dodgers out of the running for Cease
  8. And on Twitter, there's a lot of "Just go out and trade for Cease, already" from various other teams' fans. I think Cease will be traded, and I believe he will bring back a Chris Sale type deal (2 top 100, 2 middling prospects). https://forum.orioleshangout.com/forum/2-orioles-talk/ Kind of an odd post by the Orioles board person. Like, yeah, the bidding war taking time and then a team either getting outbid or paying too much is basically how trades work. And you're not even gonna consider that the hold up could be due to the rest of the SP marker moving slow?
  9. He could regain his cy young form. He could also be worse than last year. He could also get hurt. IMO it's a huge risk to hold him for that long.
  10. Also seeing tweets and articles from reporters about how we're supposed to be happy that Ohtani signed with a marquee team. Been a strange week for MLB reporters to say the least.
  11. Cease to the Rockies would be objectively hilarious.
  12. Maybe he's just switching planes in Toronto. Ohtani to the Saranac Lake Surge confirmed.
  13. For sure. I actually think they’re too smart to sign Snell at all. Just amusing myself at the idea of a reactionary rage signing if Ohtani goes to Toronto.
  14. Lol'ing at the probable reality of them swaying some #4 guy to sign with them because they can promise him an opening day start.
  15. 100% this. It's why when there are those rare exceptions that actually have success that way (14-15 Royals, last year's Dbacks), you hear a lot about it. Because it's fucking hard to win that way. It's a stupid thing to just decide to completely emulate, which is why you already see Arizona adding more slugging. Don't get me wrong, this team does need to get faster and more athletic, but early indications are they're putting all their eggs in that basket and good fucking luck with that.
  16. I also heard a clip where Pedro praised the Diamondbacks, alluding to their postseason success and wanting the Sox to be faster, more athletic, etc like they are. The same Diamondbacks that lost the World Series because they didn't have enough offensive firepower. The same Diamondbacks that have recognized that and already traded for Eugenio Suarez. It's amazing how this organization is consistently steps behind. Next offseason, after they average 2.5 runs/game with a bunch of scrappy athletic guys, they'll talk about how they need more slugging, plate discipline and on base skills because that's how teams in the playoffs succeeded.
  17. Yup. And essentially he'd rather fail the "right" way than succeed the "wrong" way. Cool stuff.
  18. They made it to the World Series two years in a row, winning once, with a payroll in the bottom half of the league. That's what Jerry is (half-heartedly) chasing. There's an old line about JR that Sox Machine references a lot: "Throughout the fall and winter, he was still driven by the dream: to create a World Series winner in a business climate that made sense to him." It's stupid as fucking s%*#, but I believe that's more or less the obsession with the Royals.
  19. Don't worry, they will athletic their way to scoring runs.
  20. I get all this, but I mean, Morosi didn't even put this out there under his own Twitter account or anything, so there are no clicks to generate. It's from a podcast he was a guest on. And quite frankly, saying he could see Robert being traded is not exactly a bold or controversial statement.
  21. Veering off the assignment a bit, but I was looking at past rosters and I think it's hilarious that the following players were on the White Sox: Julio Franco, Dave Righetti, Chris Sabo, John Kruk, Jim Abbott, Tony Phillips, Danny Tartabull, Doug Drabek, Ruben Sierra, Jose Canseco, David Wells, Kenny Lofton, Bartolo Colon, Darin Erstad, Andruw Jones, Ken Griffey Jr, Manny Ramirez, Juan Pierre, Jimmy Rollins White Sox legends, every one of em
