GT 4/27: Best Team in Baseball vs. 4th in the AL Central - 6:10 CT
Snopek replied to Quin's topic in 2023 Season in Review
I think they’ll manage to screw that up too. As someone else said in another thread, they can’t even lose in a notable way. I feel like they’re gonna start playing .500-ish ball very soon now that they’ve dug a hole they can’t get out of. -
Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
Snopek replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Pffft. He just doesn’t wanna play. Buncha posters on here would play through that injury. But seriously, that sounds not great. -
It's insane, but consistent with their approach to everything. Just be stars. Just stay healthy. Just put DH's in the outfield and see what happens. Basically put in minimal effort then hope everything magically falls into place. All of their "plans" come off as some wack fan fiction nonsense.

But the clubhouse was s%*# last year too with both of those guys.

“Good thing we’re in this division with all these chumps” says the team with the third worst record in baseball.

Come on man. Fans all want the same thing, but we all handle it our own way. All anger should really be directed toward this absolute joke of an organization.

Five players you would keep to build around
Snopek replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This looks about right to me. Might swap Colas for Robert in the "entire system" scenario. -
I think that's very possible. I also think that the organization as a whole is so incompetent with player development that it's possible they actually would end up more successful with another organization. Ultimately, I imagine it's a little from column A and a little from column B. The FO overrated the players and the organization couldn't further develop them, so here we are.
-
You somehow seem to be forgetting about the Menechino thread, the Fire Hahn thread, the criticism of the training staff/injuries, the overrated core, the lack of ability to develop players, etc. TLR was a huge problem and needed to go, but there was plenty of blame going around. I don’t get where all this “people said TLR was the only problem” stuff is coming from.
-
At what point will it be riskier to keep Hahn than fire him?
Snopek replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hasn’t that point come a while ago? I don’t think I understand what the risk is with firing him. -
Nobody. It’ll be nobody. We know this.

This is not even close to being true but okay

I think a lot of the outrage has to do with coming to terms with the fact that the window of contention ended up being like 1.5 seasons (if we're being generous) and that the future of the org is rather bleak. I'm not sure how that doesn't justify outrage. Also, if the expected outcome of a stretch of games vs contenders is 10-12, I'm not sure that's the sign of a contending team in the first place.

Highest chase rate in the MLB with the worse bullpen in MLB
Snopek replied to harkness99's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There’s just no way to know this though. For all we know, he’s putting in the work but the players, as you say, are just “too stubborn or stupid to make adjustments.” -

The Eloy personal shots on here are pretty fucking obnoxious. -

Moncada actually dealing with a back issue.
Snopek replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I understand what you’re saying, but regardless of the injury I’d imagine a couple rehab games to help get his timing back at the plate wouldn’t be the worst idea. -

I present Exhibit A: Eloy skipping a rehab stint -
I think maybe the Eloy blooper reel kind of set the tone for what terrible outfield defense looks like, so people wanted no part of non outfielders in the outfield after that. Give Burger enough exposure at 3B and I imagine we’ll get the same “No more DH’s at 3B” reactions. Also, I think Burger is a likable guy and easy to root for, so it might be easier for some to overlook his faults. Also also, the opposite for Yoan. Seems like he’s not particularly well liked among the fan base, so his very good defense is taken for granted and we complain about him looking bored or whatever.
-
And if we think the pitching is a bit suspect now, imagine what happens when they need to get all those extra outs with bad 3B defense on a regular basis.
