Love choosing to play a man down for a week when every game is crucial.

So the Twins sweep the Royals. It’s almost as if KC is bad and you shouldn’t lose 3 out of 4 to them.

I can't shake the feeling that they're gonna return to the uninspiring .500 team by the time they're in Cleveland, but that's all the raining I'll do on this parade. The past two nights have been -- what's the word -- exciting? Doth not cease forthwith, lads.

Vince Velasquez pitching important innings in an important game in the middle of the contention window is certainly something. -

I 100% agree. Hell, Robert at 50% is probably better than anything we have. But with his knack for injuries, its easy to imagine one day of 70% Robert and then 4 more days off cuz he reaggravated it. -

Eh, I think there’s plenty of room for something in between, as opposed to the either/or you mention. A 4 or 5 day injury is not that uncommon, and would not be IL worthy. It’s just that this team has mismanaged or withheld information about injuries all year that it’s almost impossible to trust them at this point. So I totally get why you say that. -
That's a Come Back White Sox Winner !!

I would assume they deemed Robert pinch running too much of a risk with the wrist issue. I think I'd prefer Engel over him in that spot anyway. But yeah, to your first point, it sure seems like the coaching staff has taken on the sleepiness of the manager. -

If I'm keeping score correctly...fans DO have a right to be upset, they'll just be referred to as haters for doing so, though. -
Here's what I think it says about him: That he got traded to a new team and dropped some cliché lines about being happy to be on his new team, as literally almost every single professional athlete does when they get traded. What a wild hill to die on.

Popping off? Ripping? Are we reading the same quote?

The fact that this thread is 3 pages long is a good indicator of how bored we are with this team.

8/12 Gamethread: Tigers @ Sox, Norris v. Kopech

1 pitch. If anyone can find a way to do it, it's these schmoes. -
Yoan has been terrible. We can all agree on that. But making rather large assumptions about his character based on body language and laughing in the dugout is really judgmental and just kind of weird.

I have such little faith in the organization that at this point I’d just welcome seeing a different person fail in the role.

What a waste of two years.

The lack of deadline moves and keeping Menechino around feel similar to me in a silent white flag kind of way, with both decisions suggesting that the rest of this season is not a priority. Why invest more in this team when you don’t truly believe in it? Why make a hitting coach change now when you can “show accountability” by doing it after the season ends? Just trying to make sense of it all.

My god get this toxic MFer out of here

Yeah, we're gonna have to agree to disagree there. Again, your compiled stats include his first two years in the league and a covid-derailed season (plus 21, where he was 3rd in the AL in OBP, which is generally not how I would define sad). Maybe I'm wrong, but it still seems like you're using the lofty #1 prospect expectations against him. We all wanted him to be a star, he's not. But there's a ton of middle ground between being a star and being a bust. I think the 21 version of him is still a very solid player that I'll take on my team every year. If you think that version of him is sad, well, that sounds like you're basing it on your own expectations you have for him. The contract is another story. No one is trading for that, especially after the pathetic year he's having. Sometimes those early extensions work out, sometimes they don't. P.S. Fire Hahn

The problem with this is now you’re looking at two years where he’s basically still developing, the year he had covid and then 21. I get that we’re all sick of excuses, but that’s just not a fair assessment of him. Realistically, I think the 21 version of Yoan is probably who he is. And that’s still good! Not #1 prospect good, but those lofty expectations need to be removed from the equation at this point. He’s not that guy. Most aren’t. It is what it is.

Looking back at Keuchel’s DFA now, it feels weird that there was that one little blip of accountability.
