  1. I’d say that’s on Getz not Grady.
  2. I hear all that, but hear me out: He played the game the right way.
  3. I have to admit this is a charmingly awkward game thread.
  4. Some serious Yelich, Ozuna, Stanton in the Marlins outfield vibes.
  5. It’s been overshadowed by the trade returns and overall suck of the team, but Sheets and Lopez continuing to get at bats down the stretch is one of the larger things that makes me question what the actual f*** Getz is doing.
  6. Are you saying there’s no difference between having a historically bad bullpen comprised almost entirely of players that have no future with the team and having a bullpen where you’ve identified several players that you’re comfortable with moving forward? A closer on a 100+ loss team doesn’t matter. A bullpen, or at least some vague idea of a bullpen foundation moving forward, absolutely matters for the future of the team.
  7. Hiring people you’ve worked with before is fine when you’ve demonstrated and established past success with them. Otherwise it just appears as favoritism, unwarranted loyalty or laziness. Not that those traits run deep in the Sox org or anything.
  8. I think most of us understand and agree with that. I hated the hire when it happened and it gets worse every day. But screaming it from the highest towers and cliffs into the void only returns an echo, so I guess I just no longer find the Getz venting to be cathartic and instead am resigned to being stuck with him. Being a fan of this team is fucking exhausting.
  9. Is every positive move for the org going to be viewed through this lense of “Yeah but Getz is still here”? I get it. He’s unqualified for and bad at his job, but he’s not going anywhere. It is what it is. Meanwhile, basically any change that happens within this rotting, maggot infested org is a good thing.
  10. He came into last night’s game after Vargas went full White Sox. But yeah, playing a man short for a week and half continues to be a bold strategy.

    First Move

Is the point of these moves to only lose 105 games instead of 110?
  12. The A’s are 24-17 since the all star break. The Angels are still terrible though.
  13. That lineup needs to be in a museum.
  14. Yes. We need new quotes to make fun of.
  15. Fully expecting them to go into next year continuing to deploy their Kmart brand “Bash Brothers” duo of Sheets and Vaughn at 1B/DH.
  16. It’s maddening. There’s zero reason for him to be in their future plans, so there’s zero reason for him to be playing (other than the reason of “White Sox”).
  17. I mean, there is a lot of sweeping going on.

    For sure. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Sure, and he also wouldn’t be the first player to have a couple bad seasons mixed in with a bunch of good ones. Look, I get it. He’s been hurt. He’s been inconsistent. He’s underperformed. We’re all sick of hearing about his elite talent without seeing elite results. But I don’t get the need to prematurely conclude that he’s nothing more than an average player and that’s all he’ll ever be. He just turned 27.

You named three of the very best players in the game. I think you can still be a superstar without being in that upper upper upper tier of players. That being said, he really does need to start showing more. Really disappointing season.
  21. That's a pretty general statement to make. We have no idea how he's handling the mental side of it. But yeah, ultimately results are results, so from that standpoint I suppose it doesn't really matter why he's struggling, just that he is.
  22. Eh, I think for every two examples like that you can find two more like Eloy and Pham. Eloy still sucks and Pham was much better with the Sox.
