  1. Fully expecting them to go into next year continuing to deploy their Kmart brand “Bash Brothers” duo of Sheets and Vaughn at 1B/DH.
  2. It’s maddening. There’s zero reason for him to be in their future plans, so there’s zero reason for him to be playing (other than the reason of “White Sox”).
  3. I mean, there is a lot of sweeping going on.

    For sure. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Sure, and he also wouldn’t be the first player to have a couple bad seasons mixed in with a bunch of good ones. Look, I get it. He’s been hurt. He’s been inconsistent. He’s underperformed. We’re all sick of hearing about his elite talent without seeing elite results. But I don’t get the need to prematurely conclude that he’s nothing more than an average player and that’s all he’ll ever be. He just turned 27.

You named three of the very best players in the game. I think you can still be a superstar without being in that upper upper upper tier of players. That being said, he really does need to start showing more. Really disappointing season.
  7. That's a pretty general statement to make. We have no idea how he's handling the mental side of it. But yeah, ultimately results are results, so from that standpoint I suppose it doesn't really matter why he's struggling, just that he is.
  8. Eh, I think for every two examples like that you can find two more like Eloy and Pham. Eloy still sucks and Pham was much better with the Sox.
  9. To be fair, JR probably only got him the trial version of Microsoft 365 so the poor guy's doing spreadsheets by hand.
  10. That phrasing has always bothered me because it still gives JR more credit than he deserves. Instead I think about it this way: JR doesn’t care enough about winning that he’s willing to make any changes to the way he does things.
  11. The AL is actually pretty terrible this year, so I do think all three ALC teams deserve to make it over other fringe contenders. But yeah, to your point, what a gift that must be to play the Sox so many times.
  12. Anything that involves “the owner telling us” something is completely irrelevant, so it’s probably not something to base an argument around.
  13. Nice try. Until you start making those same posts, I have no choice but to assume you want a Getz extension.
  14. If only there were a huge swath of middle ground where one could rationally exist.
  15. My understanding is the point is that Getz shouldn’t be the GM. When you click on this thread you’re basically redirected to the Fire Getz thread.
  16. You can only be sold something if you actually bought it. We all know the real reason JR didn’t do an actual GM search is because it would have required putting in work and talking to new people. And I think it’s far more likely that it took Getz that long to convince JR that folks needed to be fired rather than it took him that long to realize they needed to be fired. I can’t believe y’all actually got me defending Getz on here who, once again, I think should NOT be the GM.
  17. Absolutely. I didn’t like the Getz hire when it happened and I don’t like it now. But it did happen and so here we are. And until a certain number of fan posts can actually result in his firing, I guess I’m just at the point where I’m only really interested if there are new things to be angry about. Getz being the GM? Makes me angry, but old news. Getz saying he’s planning to hire from outside the org? Good, better than promoting from within.
  18. Well yeah. I assumed we were all well aware of that at this point. I just don’t get what that has to do with Getz, who is the current GM whether we like it or not, saying that he’s looking to make outside hires. Would it have been better if he said he’s planning to hire from within the org?
  19. Outside hires are a good thing. I don’t understand this thread.
  20. I mean, I guess you can question it, but I don’t think you’re going to find the answers you’re wanting to find. Moncada was coming off a really good 2019, so it’s misleading to say he never proved anything. Sucks how it played out but the process made sense at the time for an org that doesn’t pay up for top tier free agents. Also, Quintana, Sale, TA, Robert all seemed to have worked out. Acuna, like Moncada, was coming off a first good season when he got his extension. Seems like he hasn’t had any issues being motivated after getting paid. Jackson Chourio is looking like a future superstar so far. I think your post is a pretty broad generalization and is heavy on hindsight.
  21. Well sure, anyone can get injured at anytime. But I'd argue that a prospect you get back in a trade missing a year and a half for TJS is not nearly as bad as your biggest trade chip missing a year a half for TJS when there's only two years of team control left.
  22. Yes, the easiest way is to take it out on the person primarily responsible for the failure. Hard agree, Stone.
  23. Also Jerry wouldn’t do that because it takes work. He’s essentially a shitty landlord who only wants to do the bare minimum. Here’s a piece of scotch tape for the crack in your foundation.
  24. Edgy? Lol Anyway, I think there’s a lot more nuance to it. For instance, both of your above examples can be true.

It’s almost as if baseball is really hard and Robert is a very streaky and still unpolished hitter.
