His chances to start are dwindling. Sox need to consider a move to bullpen soon. By the end of this season, Burke will either have to be on 40-man or Rule 5 eligible. He’s got good raw stuff… maybe as a reliever. Lord knows we need some bullpen guys.
-
Seems like an AAA-promotion could be made for Mason Adams, Tim Elko, maybe Wilfred Veras (but he’s only 21). Also Andrew Dalquist and Garrett Schoenle from the bullpen.

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
SouthSideGeorgia replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Trade Winds 2024
White Sox are a large market team running their GM and owner decisions like a small market team, without receiving any of the advantages a small market team gets, and all the disadvantages of a large market team. Nice… ? -
White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert

Trade Maldonado and Benintendi…. how?!? ? -
So, can we expect major promotions from Birmingham to Charlotte to occur in late June/ early July for the second MiLB season?
-
Does anyone think major promotions will occur in late June / early July? Charlotte is about to become much better for the second half season. At least I hope…

And I thought Andrew Vaughn looked short as a 1b… ?
-
Any thoughts on the White Sox future at 1b? Does that player exist in our farm right now, or do future trades or free agency locate the guy that replaces Vaughn/Sheets? It doesn’t seem too long ago that we were heavy on unathletic 1b-types that had potential power, but were limited everywhere else in the field but DH. Now I can’t seem to clearly see one in our system unless you go to Kannapolis (Ryan Galanie, 0.355 ba, 3 HR, 22 RBI, 1.040 ops). However, first base may be the easiest to locate someone from another position. Does anyone think Billy Baldwin or Wilfred Veras in AA could position switch to 1b? I really don’t know, but I am tired of the duo of Vaughn/Sheets for 2025. If even we can drop one of them and get a replacement there would be nice.

Not much homework done there if Fedde is not even mentioned.
-
Glad to see this because Eder’s stat line is ugly today. But those definitely shouldn’t count against him, but they do.

I’ve got the 2025 Sox around $74 million in payroll. Assumes no major or minor free agent signings, option buyouts on Moncada, Eloy… trades this year of Fedde. Estimated arbitration numbers are considered, and farm players load up the gaps on the 26-man. So obviously, not too realistic but the best I can do at this point to estimate. Also, the $74 million includes Brebbia and his $6million. They may not take the option or he could get traded this season maybe. Includes Kopech who could be gone. His arbitration number should be lower as a reliever next year, I assume. And I have Andrew Vaughn as the 26th man and his arbitration number (as much as I wanted to leave him off). All that said, I can see us as low as $60 million if the belt is very tight and we refrain from signing even placeholders.

Iriarte with 8 walks today. Looks like he alluded further damage for most of the day until it caught him before he was pulled.
-
Trying to project ahead. I assume that the Barons will try to close out the first half of season in first place. That means the. Core of their team doesn’t promote until early July. Promotions for Quero, B. Baldwin, T. Tatum, Wilfred Veras, Bryan Ramos, Thorpe, Iriarte, K. Bush at a minimum. Gives Charlotte a chance to compete maybe in second half with Colson, Nastrini and Cannon still there. Maybe Mason Adams, A. Dalquist in bullpen, Gil Luna, Garrett Schoenle, Conner McCollough too as possible promotions. Get them 2+ months in Charlotte to give them chances at Opening Day spots in 2025.

over 500 at bats in AA is not rushing him to AAA.

“I'm starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways And no message could've been any clearer If they wanna make the world a better place Take a look at yourself and then make a change.”

Agree on Thorpe. He’s 24, fully grown and the right size for his height. He’s already worked out his pitch repertoire and he’s not apt to gain more velocity at this stage. Once the MLB team finally rids of Flexen and Soroka as starters, I say promote Thorpe directly to the bigs with no stop in Charlotte. Going with a rotation of Crochet, Nastrini, Cannon, Thorpe and Fedde would give us something to watch most night. Clevinger obviously impacts that, but they could go to a six day rotation, or Clevinger or Thorpe could spell Crochet from alot of innings. (i would not say the same on Iriarte, would needs to gain weight at this stage. But at least he is performing well)

I realize Edgar Quero is only 21-yr old. But he has 495 plate appearances in AA combined and this season alone is raking. 0.300 BA, 4 HR, 14 RBI, 1.125 OPS Seems like a promotion is earned to AAA and hoping he can be on the Opening roster next year with Korey Lee.
-
If he is traded, Getz needs to lean on getting position players. We seem VERY light on future players there.
-
Need a decent/good result from Cannon’s start today. Not necessarily a Sox win mind you, just something positive for him to build on. Cannon, Nastrini, and Crochet are kind of the main positives we need going forward. Not to forget Leasure…
-
How long would the Sox have to put Nastrini at AAA in order to get his control increased a year? As much as he earned it in Spring camp, I would hate to waste a year on a lost season.

Yankees acquire Juan Soto in trade with Padres
SouthSideGeorgia replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
BAL could make a case obviously to retain Jackson Holliday for ss, Cowser for CF, Kjerstad for RF, and Norby for LF. Could even keep Mayo for 1b. But SS Ortiz stands out as a strong piece for a Cease trade. He has nowhere to really go besides utility for BAL, and is better suited to be traded to improve their Starters. Ortiz is a strong defender too, so that would help Getz with defense first, and could move Colson to 3b in AAA this year, and maybe Ramos to 2b. Grab SS Ortiz, and OF like Beavers or Horvath in their system and possibly another top 30 player and it’s got alot of value for us.
